¹⁷ For the law was given through Moses;^(A) grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.^(B)

⁶ Jesus answered, “I am^(A) the way^(B) and the truth^(C) and the life.^(D) No one comes to the Father except through me.^(E)

²⁰ The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase.^(A) But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,^{(B) 21} so that, just as sin reigned in death,^(C) so also grace^(D) might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life^(E) through Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹⁴ For sin shall no longer be your master,^(A) because you are not under the law,^(B) but under grace.^(C)

⁸ For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews^[a](A) on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises^(B) made to the patriarchs might be confirmed ⁹ and, moreover, that the Gentiles^(C) might glorify God^(D) for his mercy. As it is written:

¹⁰ Again, it says,

¹¹ And again,

¹² And again, Isaiah says,

² Preach^(A) the word;^(B) be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke^(C) and encourage^(D)—with great patience and careful instruction.

³ But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins.^{(A) 4} It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats^(B) to take away sins.^(C)

⁵ Therefore, when Christ came into the world,^(D) he said:

⁸ First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”^(H)—though they were offered in accordance with the law. ⁹ Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.”^(I) He sets aside the first to establish the second. ¹⁰ And by that will, we have been made holy^(J) through the sacrifice of the body^(K) of Jesus Christ once for all.^(L)
