19 For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation(A) for God’s sons(B) to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected(C) to futility(D)—not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it(E)—in the hope 21 that the creation itself(F) will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God’s children. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains(G) until now. 23 And not only that,(H) but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits(I)—we also groan within ourselves,(J) eagerly waiting for adoption,(K) the redemption of our bodies.(L) 24 Now in this hope(M) we were saved, yet hope(N) that is seen is not hope, because who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see,(O) we eagerly wait for it with patience.

26 In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should,(P) but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us[a](Q) with unspoken groanings. 27 And He who searches the hearts(R) knows the Spirit’s mind-set, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

28 We know that all things work together[b] for the good[c] of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.(S) 29 For those He foreknew He also predestined(T) to be conformed to the image of His Son,(U) so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.(V) 30 And those He predestined, He also called; and those He called, He also justified;(W) and those He justified, He also glorified.(X)

The Believer’s Triumph

31 What then are we to say about these things?(Y)
If God is for us, who is against us?(Z)
32 He did not even spare His own Son(AA)
but offered Him up for us all;(AB)
how will He not also with Him grant us everything?
33 Who can bring an accusation against God’s elect?(AC)
God is the One who justifies.(AD)
34 Who is the one who condemns?(AE)
Christ Jesus is the One who died,(AF)
but even more, has been raised;(AG)
He also is at the right hand of God(AH)
and intercedes for us.(AI)
35 Who can separate us from the love of Christ?
Can affliction(AJ) or anguish or persecution(AK)
or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written:
Because of You
we are being put to death all day long;(AL)
we are counted as sheep to be slaughtered.(AM)[d]
37 No, in all these things we are more than victorious(AN)
through Him who loved us.(AO)
38 For I am persuaded that not even death or life,(AP)
angels or rulers,(AQ)
things present or things to come,(AR) hostile powers,
39 height or depth, or any other created thing
will have the power to separate us
from the love of God(AS) that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!(AT)

19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God(A) to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it,(B) in hope 21 that[a] the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay(C) and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.(D)

22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning(E) as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,(F) groan(G) inwardly as we wait eagerly(H) for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.(I) 24 For in this hope we were saved.(J) But hope that is seen is no hope at all.(K) Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.(L)

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit(M) himself intercedes for us(N) through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts(O) knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes(P) for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good(Q) of those who love him, who[b] have been called(R) according to his purpose.(S) 29 For those God foreknew(T) he also predestined(U) to be conformed to the image of his Son,(V) that he might be the firstborn(W) among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined,(X) he also called;(Y) those he called, he also justified;(Z) those he justified, he also glorified.(AA)

More Than Conquerors

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things?(AB) If God is for us,(AC) who can be against us?(AD) 32 He who did not spare his own Son,(AE) but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge(AF) against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns?(AG) No one. Christ Jesus who died(AH)—more than that, who was raised to life(AI)—is at the right hand of God(AJ) and is also interceding for us.(AK) 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?(AL) Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?(AM) 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[c](AN)

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors(AO) through him who loved us.(AP) 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[d] neither the present nor the future,(AQ) nor any powers,(AR) 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God(AS) that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.(AT)
