²⁸Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses!^(A)

²⁸Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.

²⁹We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”^(A)

²⁹We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.

³⁴To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth;^(A) how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.^(B)

³⁴They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
