5 ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. 6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. 7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, 8 and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

(A)“Behold, I lay in Zion
A chief cornerstone, elect, precious,
And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”
7 Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who [a]are disobedient,
(B)“The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief cornerstone,”
8 and
(C)“A stone of stumbling
And a rock of offense.”
(D)They stumble, being disobedient to the word, (E)to which they also were appointed.

«¡Miren! Yo pongo en Sión
la principal piedra angular, escogida y preciosa;
y el que crea en ella no será avergonzado.»(A)
7 Para ustedes, los que creen, él es de gran valor; pero para los que no creen:
«La piedra que desecharon los edificadores
ha llegado a ser la piedra angular»,(B)
8 y también:
«Una piedra de tropiezo,
y una roca que hace tropezar.»(C)
Porque al ser desobedientes, ellos tropiezan en la palabra, para lo cual estaban ya destinados.

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,(E)
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”[b](F)
7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,(G)
8 and,
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.(K)
