Praise for Deliverance from Oppression
25 O Lord, you are my God;
I will exalt you, I will praise your name;
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure.
2 For you have made the city a heap,
the fortified city a ruin;
the palace of aliens is a city no more,
it will never be rebuilt.
3 Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;
cities of ruthless nations will fear you.
4 For you have been a refuge to the poor,
a refuge to the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the rainstorm and a shade from the heat.
When the blast of the ruthless was like a winter rainstorm,
5 the noise of aliens like heat in a dry place,
you subdued the heat with the shade of clouds;
the song of the ruthless was stilled.
6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wines,
of rich food filled with marrow, of well-aged wines strained clear.
7 And he will destroy on this mountain
the shroud that is cast over all peoples,
the sheet that is spread over all nations;
8 he will swallow up death forever.
Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces,
and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the Lord has spoken.
9 It will be said on that day,
Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us.
This is the Lord for whom we have waited;
let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

25 (A)Signore, tu sei il mio Dio; io ti esalterò, loderò il tuo nome, perché hai fatto cose meravigliose; i tuoi disegni, concepiti da tempo, sono fedeli e stabili.
2 Poiché tu hai ridotto la città[a] in un mucchio di pietre, la città forte in un monte di rovine; il castello degli stranieri non è più una città, non sarà mai più ricostruito.
3 Perciò il popolo forte ti glorifica, le città delle nazioni possenti ti temono,
4 perché tu sei stato una fortezza per il povero, una fortezza per l’indifeso nella sua angoscia, un rifugio contro la tempesta, un’ombra contro l’arsura; poiché il soffio dei tiranni era come una tempesta che batte la muraglia.
5 Come il calore è domato in una terra arida, così tu hai domato il tumulto degli stranieri; come il calore è diminuito dall’ombra di una nuvola, così il canto dei tiranni è stato attenuato.
6 (B)Il Signore degli eserciti preparerà per tutti i popoli su questo monte un convito di cibi succulenti, un convito di vini vecchi, di cibi pieni di midollo, di vini vecchi raffinati.
7 Distruggerà su quel monte il velo che copre la faccia di tutti i popoli e la coperta stesa su tutte le nazioni.
8 Annienterà per sempre la morte; il Signore, Dio, asciugherà le lacrime da ogni viso, toglierà via da tutta la terra la vergogna del suo popolo, perché il Signore ha parlato.
9 In quel giorno si dirà: «Ecco, questo è il nostro Dio; in lui abbiamo sperato ed egli ci ha salvati. Questo è il Signore in cui abbiamo sperato; esultiamo, rallegriamoci per la sua salvezza!»

25 O Herr, du bist mein Gott; dich will ich erheben! Ich lobe deinen Namen, denn du hast Wunder getan; deine Ratschlüsse von alters her sind zuverlässig und wahrhaftig!
2 Denn du hast die Stadt zum Steinhaufen gemacht, die feste Burg zum Trümmerhaufen, den Palast der Fremden zu einer untergegangenen Stadt; ewiglich wird sie nicht mehr aufgebaut werden.
3 Darum ehrt dich auch ein mächtiges Volk, die Städte gewalttätiger Nationen fürchten dich;
4 denn du bist dem Schwachen eine Zuflucht geworden, eine Zuflucht dem Armen in seiner Not, ein Schirm vor dem Wolkenbruch, ein Schatten vor der Hitze, als der Zornhauch der Tyrannen wie ein Unwetter gegen eine Wand [daherkam].
5 Wie die Sonnenglut in einer dürren Gegend, so dämpfst du das Toben der Fremden; wie die Sonnenglut durch den Schatten einer Wolke, so legt sich der Triumphgesang der Tyrannen.
6 Und der Herr der Heerscharen wird auf diesem Berg allen Völkern ein Mahl von fetten Speisen bereiten, ein Mahl von alten Weinen, von fetten, markigen Speisen, von alten, geläuterten Weinen.
7 Und er wird auf diesem Berg die Schleierhülle wegnehmen[a], die alle Völker verhüllt, und die Decke, womit alle Nationen bedeckt sind.
8 Er wird den Tod auf ewig verschlingen. Und Gott, der Herr, wird die Tränen abwischen von jedem Angesicht und die Schmach seines Volkes hinwegnehmen von der ganzen Erde. Ja, der Herr hat [es] gesprochen.
9 Und an jenem Tag wird man sagen: Seht, das ist unser Gott, auf den wir gehofft haben, dass er uns rette; das ist der Herr, auf den wir hofften; nun lasst uns frohlocken und fröhlich sein in seiner Rettung!

Dicsérem neved és magasztallak,
mert csodákat tettél,

2 Nagy városokat leromboltál,
erős várakat romhalmazzá tettél,
kőrakás maradt csak belőlük.

7 Megszabadítja az Örökkévaló a népeket
ezen a hegyen a sötét takarótól,
amely arcukat befedte,
a fekete gyászlepeltől,
amely az összes nemzetet beborította.
8 Bizony, elveszti a halált örökre,[a]
s arcukról minden könnyet letöröl Uram, az Örökkévaló!
Népét megszabadítja szégyenétől az egész földön.

8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 “As for me, I am establishing my covenant with you and your descendants after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the domestic animals, and every animal of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark.[a] 11 I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

14 Wenn es nun geschieht, dass ich Wolken über der Erde sammle, und der Bogen in den Wolken erscheint,
15 dann will ich an meinen Bund gedenken, der zwischen mir und euch und allen lebendigen Wesen von allem Fleisch besteht, dass künftig die Wasser nicht mehr zur Sintflut werden sollen, die alles Fleisch verdirbt.
16 Darum soll der Bogen in den Wolken sein, dass ich ihn ansehe und an den ewigen Bund gedenke zwischen Gott und allen lebendigen Wesen von allem Fleisch, das auf der Erde ist!

8 One is commended for good sense,
but a perverse mind is despised.
9 Better to be despised and have a servant,
than to be self-important and lack food.
10 The righteous know the needs of their animals,
but the mercy of the wicked is cruel.
11 Those who till their land will have plenty of food,
but those who follow worthless pursuits have no sense.
12 The wicked covet the proceeds of wickedness,[a]
but the root of the righteous bears fruit.
13 The evil are ensnared by the transgression of their lips,
but the righteous escape from trouble.
14 From the fruit of the mouth one is filled with good things,
and manual labor has its reward.
15 Fools think their own way is right,
but the wise listen to advice.
16 Fools show their anger at once,
but the prudent ignore an insult.
17 Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence,
but a false witness speaks deceitfully.
18 Rash words are like sword thrusts,
but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Truthful lips endure forever,
but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
20 Deceit is in the mind of those who plan evil,
but those who counsel peace have joy.
21 No harm happens to the righteous,
but the wicked are filled with trouble.

wer aber Nichtigem nachjagt, dem mangelt es an Verstand.
12 Den Gottlosen gelüstet nach der Beute der Bösen,
aber die Wurzel der Gerechten trägt Frucht.
13 In treulosen Lippen steckt ein böser Fallstrick,
ein Gerechter aber entgeht der Bedrängnis.
