¹⁷ For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

²¹ God made him who had no sin to be sin^[a] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

²¹ I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!’^[a]

²¹ Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.
