²⁵ Now when Moses saw that the people were ^[a]out of control—for Aaron had ^(A)let them ^[b]get out of control to the point of being an object of ridicule among ^[c]their enemies—

²³ because they ^(A)acted ^[a]foolishly in Israel, and ^(B)committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and falsely ^(C)spoke words in My name which I did not command them. I am He who ^(D)knows, and a witness,” declares the Lord.’”

⁹ Slanderous men have been among you for the purpose of shedding blood, and among you they have eaten at the mountain shrines. In your midst they have ^(A)committed outrageous sin. ¹⁰ Among you ^[a]they have ^(B)uncovered their fathers’ nakedness; among you they have abused her who was ^(C)unclean in her menstruation. ¹¹ And one has committed abomination with his ^(D)neighbor’s wife, another has outrageously defiled his ^(E)daughter-in-law, and another among you has sexually ^(F)abused his sister, his father’s daughter.

²⁶ You ^[a](A)rely on your sword, you commit abominations, and each of you defiles his neighbor’s wife. Should you then possess the land?”’
