4 此 後 ， 我 观 看 ， 见 天 上 有 门 开 了 。 我 初 次 听 见 好 像 吹 号 的 声 音 ， 对 我 说 ： 你 上 到 这 里 来 ， 我 要 将 以 後 必 成 的 事 指 示 你 。
2 我 立 刻 被 圣 灵 感 动 ， 见 有 一 个 宝 座 安 置 在 天 上 ， 又 有 一 位 坐 在 宝 座 上 。
3 看 那 坐 着 的 ， 好 像 碧 玉 和 红 宝 石 ； 又 有 虹 围 着 宝 座 ， 好 像 绿 宝 石 。
4 宝 座 的 周 围 又 有 二 十 四 个 座 位 ； 其 上 坐 着 二 十 四 位 长 老 ， 身 穿 白 衣 ， 头 上 戴 着 金 冠 冕 。
5 有 闪 电 、 声 音 、 雷 轰 从 宝 座 中 发 出 ； 又 有 七 盏 火 灯 在 宝 座 前 点 着 ； 这 七 灯 就 是 神 的 七 灵 。
6 宝 座 前 好 像 一 个 玻 璃 海 ， 如 同 水 晶 。 宝 座 中 和 宝 座 周 围 有 四 个 活 物 ， 前 後 遍 体 都 满 了 眼 睛 。
7 第 一 个 活 物 像 狮 子 ， 第 二 个 像 牛 犊 ， 第 三 个 脸 面 像 人 ， 第 四 个 像 飞 鹰 。
8 四 活 物 各 有 六 个 翅 膀 ， 遍 体 内 外 都 满 了 眼 睛 。 他 们 昼 夜 不 住 的 说 ： 圣 哉 ！ 圣 哉 ！ 圣 哉 ！ 主 神 是 昔 在 、 今 在 、 以 後 永 在 的 全 能 者 。
9 每 逢 四 活 物 将 荣 耀 、 尊 贵 、 感 谢 归 给 那 坐 在 宝 座 上 、 活 到 永 永 远 远 者 的 时 候 ，
10 那 二 十 四 位 长 老 就 俯 伏 在 坐 宝 座 的 面 前 敬 拜 那 活 到 永 永 远 远 的 ， 又 把 他 们 的 冠 冕 放 在 宝 座 前 ， 说 ：
11 我 们 的 主 ， 我 们 的 神 ， 你 是 配 得 荣 耀 、 尊 贵 、 权 柄 的 ； 因 为 你 创 造 了 万 物 ， 并 且 万 物 是 因 你 的 旨 意 被 创 造 而 有 的 。
5 我 看 见 坐 宝 座 的 右 手 中 有 书 卷 ， 里 外 都 写 着 字 ， 用 七 印 封 严 了 。
2 我 又 看 见 一 位 大 力 的 天 使 大 声 宣 传 说 ： 有 谁 配 展 开 那 书 卷 ， 揭 开 那 七 印 呢 ？
3 在 天 上 、 地 上 、 地 底 下 ， 没 有 能 展 开 、 能 观 看 那 书 卷 的 。
4 因 为 没 有 配 展 开 、 配 观 看 那 书 卷 的 ， 我 就 大 哭 。
5 长 老 中 有 一 位 对 我 说 ： 不 要 哭 。 看 哪 ， 犹 大 支 派 中 的 狮 子 ， 大 卫 的 根 ， 他 已 得 胜 ， 能 以 展 开 那 书 卷 ， 揭 开 那 七 印 。
6 我 又 看 见 宝 座 与 四 活 物 ， 并 长 老 之 中 有 羔 羊 站 立 ， 像 是 被 杀 过 的 ， 有 七 角 七 眼 ， 就 是 神 的 七 灵 ， 奉 差 遣 往 普 天 下 去 的 。
7 这 羔 羊 前 来 ， 从 坐 宝 座 的 右 手 里 拿 了 书 卷 。
8 他 既 拿 了 书 卷 ， 四 活 物 和 二 十 四 位 长 老 就 俯 伏 在 羔 羊 面 前 ， 各 拿 着 琴 和 盛 满 了 香 的 金 炉 ； 这 香 就 是 众 圣 徒 的 祈 祷 。
9 他 们 唱 新 歌 ， 说 ： 你 配 拿 书 卷 ， 配 揭 开 七 印 ； 因 为 你 曾 被 杀 ， 用 自 己 的 血 从 各 族 、 各 方 、 各 民 、 各 国 中 买 了 人 来 ， 叫 他 们 归 於 神 ，
10 又 叫 他 们 成 为 国 民 ， 作 祭 司 归 於 神 ， 在 地 上 执 掌 王 权 。
11 我 又 看 见 且 听 见 ， 宝 座 与 活 物 并 长 老 的 周 围 有 许 多 天 使 的 声 音 ； 他 们 的 数 目 有 千 千 万 万 ，
12 大 声 说 ： 曾 被 杀 的 羔 羊 是 配 得 权 柄 、 丰 富 、 智 慧 、 能 力 、 尊 贵 、 荣 耀 、 颂 赞 的 。
13 我 又 听 见 在 天 上 、 地 上 、 地 底 下 、 沧 海 里 ， 和 天 地 间 一 切 所 有 被 造 之 物 ， 都 说 ： 但 愿 颂 赞 、 尊 贵 、 荣 耀 、 权 势 都 归 给 坐 宝 座 的 和 羔 羊 ， 直 到 永 永 远 远 ！
14 四 活 物 就 说 ： 阿 们 ！ 众 长 老 也 俯 伏 敬 拜 。
6 我 看 见 羔 羊 揭 开 七 印 中 第 一 印 的 时 候 ， 就 听 见 四 活 物 中 的 一 个 活 物 ， 声 音 如 雷 ， 说 ： 你 来 ！
2 我 就 观 看 ， 见 有 一 匹 白 马 ； 骑 在 马 上 的 ， 拿 着 弓 ， 并 有 冠 冕 赐 给 他 。 他 便 出 来 ， 胜 了 又 要 胜 。
3 揭 开 第 二 印 的 时 候 ， 我 听 见 第 二 个 活 物 说 ： 你 来 。
4 就 另 有 一 匹 马 出 来 ， 是 红 的 ， 有 权 柄 给 了 那 骑 马 的 ， 可 以 从 地 上 夺 去 太 平 ， 使 人 彼 此 相 杀 ； 又 有 一 把 大 刀 赐 给 他 。
5 揭 开 第 三 印 的 时 候 ， 我 听 见 第 三 个 活 物 说 ： 你 来 ！ 我 就 观 看 ， 见 有 一 匹 黑 马 ； 骑 在 马 上 的 ， 手 里 拿 着 天 平 。
6 我 听 见 在 四 活 物 中 似 乎 有 声 音 说 ： 一 钱 银 子 买 一 升 麦 子 ， 一 钱 银 子 买 三 升 大 麦 ； 油 和 酒 不 可 糟 蹋 。
7 揭 开 第 四 印 的 时 候 ， 我 听 见 第 四 个 活 物 说 ： 你 来 ！
8 我 就 观 看 ， 见 有 一 匹 灰 色 马 ； 骑 在 马 上 的 ， 名 字 叫 作 死 ， 阴 府 也 随 着 他 ； 有 权 柄 赐 给 他 们 ， 可 以 用 刀 剑 、 饥 荒 、 瘟 疫 （ 或 作 ： 死 亡 ） 、 野 兽 ， 杀 害 地 上 四 分 之 一 的 人 。
9 揭 开 第 五 印 的 时 候 ， 我 看 见 在 祭 坛 底 下 ， 有 为 神 的 道 、 并 为 作 见 证 被 杀 之 人 的 灵 魂 ，
10 大 声 喊 着 说 ： 圣 洁 真 实 的 主 阿 ， 你 不 审 判 住 在 地 上 的 人 ， 给 我 们 伸 流 血 的 冤 ， 要 等 到 几 时 呢 ？
11 於 是 有 白 衣 赐 给 他 们 各 人 ； 又 有 话 对 他 们 说 ， 还 要 安 息 片 时 ， 等 着 一 同 作 仆 人 的 和 他 们 的 弟 兄 也 像 他 们 被 杀 ， 满 足 了 数 目 。
12 揭 开 第 六 印 的 时 候 ， 我 又 看 见 地 大 震 动 ， 日 头 变 黑 像 毛 布 ， 满 月 变 红 像 血 ，
13 天 上 的 星 辰 坠 落 於 地 ， 如 同 无 花 果 树 被 大 风 摇 动 ， 落 下 未 熟 的 果 子 一 样 。
14 天 就 挪 移 ， 好 像 书 卷 被 卷 起 来 ； 山 岭 海 岛 都 被 挪 移 离 开 本 位 。
15 地 上 的 君 王 、 臣 宰 、 将 军 、 富 户 、 壮 士 ， 和 一 切 为 奴 的 、 自 主 的 ， 都 藏 在 山 洞 和 岩 石 穴 里 ，
16 向 山 和 岩 石 说 ： 倒 在 我 们 身 上 罢 ！ 把 我 们 藏 起 来 ， 躲 避 坐 宝 座 者 的 面 目 和 羔 羊 的 忿 怒 ；
17 因 为 他 们 忿 怒 的 大 日 到 了 ， 谁 能 站 得 住 呢 ？
7 此 後 ， 我 看 见 四 位 天 使 站 在 地 的 四 角 ， 执 掌 地 上 四 方 的 风 ， 叫 风 不 吹 在 地 上 、 海 上 ， 和 树 上 。
2 我 又 看 见 另 有 一 位 天 使 ， 从 日 出 之 地 上 来 ， 拿 着 永 生 神 的 印 。 他 就 向 那 得 着 权 柄 能 伤 害 地 和 海 的 四 位 天 使 大 声 喊 着 说 ：
3 地 与 海 并 树 木 ， 你 们 不 可 伤 害 ， 等 我 们 印 了 我 们 神 众 仆 人 的 额 。
4 我 听 见 以 色 列 人 各 支 派 中 受 印 的 数 目 有 十 四 万 四 千 。
5 犹 大 支 派 中 受 印 的 有 一 万 二 千 ； 流 便 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ； 迦 得 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ；
6 亚 设 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ； 拿 弗 他 利 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ； 玛 拿 西 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ；
7 西 缅 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ； 利 未 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ； 以 萨 迦 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ；
8 西 布 伦 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ； 约 瑟 支 派 中 有 一 万 二 千 ； 便 雅 悯 支 派 中 受 印 的 有 一 万 二 千 。
9 此 後 ， 我 观 看 ， 见 有 许 多 的 人 ， 没 有 人 能 数 过 来 ， 是 从 各 国 、 各 族 、 各 民 、 各 方 来 的 ， 站 在 宝 座 和 羔 羊 面 前 ， 身 穿 白 衣 ， 手 拿 棕 树 枝 ，
10 大 声 喊 着 说 ： 愿 救 恩 归 与 坐 在 宝 座 上 我 们 的 神 ， 也 归 与 羔 羊 ！
11 众 天 使 都 站 在 宝 座 和 众 长 老 并 四 活 物 的 周 围 ， 在 宝 座 前 ， 面 伏 於 地 ， 敬 拜 神 ，
12 说 ： 阿 们 ！ 颂 赞 、 荣 耀 、 智 慧 、 感 谢 、 尊 贵 、 权 柄 、 大 力 都 归 与 我 们 的 神 ， 直 到 永 永 远 远 。 阿 们 ！
13 长 老 中 有 一 位 问 我 说 ： 这 些 穿 白 衣 的 是 谁 ？ 是 从 那 里 来 的 ？
14 我 对 他 说 ： 我 主 ， 你 知 道 。 他 向 我 说 ： 这 些 人 是 从 大 患 难 中 出 来 的 ， 曾 用 羔 羊 的 血 把 衣 裳 洗 白 净 了 。
15 所 以 ， 他 们 在 神 宝 座 前 ， 昼 夜 在 他 殿 中 事 奉 他 。 坐 宝 座 的 要 用 帐 幕 覆 庇 他 们 。
16 他 们 不 再 饥 ， 不 再 渴 ； 日 头 和 炎 热 也 必 不 伤 害 他 们 。
17 因 为 宝 座 中 的 羔 羊 必 牧 养 他 们 ， 领 他 们 到 生 命 水 的 泉 源 ； 神 也 必 擦 去 他 们 一 切 的 眼 泪 。
8 羔 羊 揭 开 第 七 印 的 时 候 ， 天 上 寂 静 约 有 二 刻 。
2 我 看 见 那 站 在 神 面 前 的 七 位 天 使 ， 有 七 枝 号 赐 给 他 们 。
3 另 有 一 位 天 使 ， 拿 着 金 香 炉 来 ， 站 在 祭 坛 旁 边 。 有 许 多 香 赐 给 他 ， 要 和 众 圣 徒 的 祈 祷 一 同 献 在 宝 座 前 的 金 坛 上 。
4 那 香 的 烟 和 众 圣 徒 的 祈 祷 从 天 使 的 手 中 一 同 升 到 神 面 前 。
5 天 使 拿 着 香 炉 ， 盛 满 了 坛 上 的 火 ， 倒 在 地 上 ； 随 有 雷 轰 、 大 声 、 闪 电 、 地 震 。
6 拿 着 七 枝 号 的 七 位 天 使 就 预 备 要 吹 。
7 第 一 位 天 使 吹 号 ， 就 有 雹 子 与 火 搀 着 血 丢 在 地 上 ； 地 的 三 分 之 一 和 树 的 三 分 之 一 被 烧 了 ， 一 切 的 青 草 也 被 烧 了 。
8 第 二 位 天 使 吹 号 ， 就 有 彷 佛 火 烧 着 的 大 山 扔 在 海 中 ； 海 的 三 分 之 一 变 成 血 ，
9 海 中 的 活 物 死 了 三 分 之 一 ， 船 只 也 坏 了 三 分 之 一 。
10 第 三 位 天 使 吹 号 ， 就 有 烧 着 的 大 星 ， 好 像 火 把 从 天 上 落 下 来 ， 落 在 江 河 的 三 分 之 一 和 众 水 的 泉 源 上 。
11 这 星 名 叫 茵 ? 。 众 水 的 三 分 之 一 变 为 茵 ? ； 因 水 变 苦 ， 就 死 了 许 多 人 。
12 第 四 位 天 使 吹 号 ， 日 头 的 三 分 之 一 ， 月 亮 的 三 分 之 一 、 星 辰 的 三 分 之 一 都 被 击 打 ， 以 致 日 月 星 的 三 分 之 一 黑 暗 了 ， 白 昼 的 三 分 之 一 没 有 光 ， 黑 夜 也 是 这 样 。
13 我 又 看 见 一 个 鹰 飞 在 空 中 ， 并 听 见 他 大 声 说 ： 三 位 天 使 要 吹 那 其 馀 的 号 。 你 们 住 在 地 上 的 民 ， 祸 哉 ！ 祸 哉 ！ 祸 哉 ！

天上的敬拜
4 此後，我再觀看，見天上有一扇門開了，又聽見剛才那個像號角般響亮的聲音對我說：「你上這裡來，我要把以後必發生的事指示給你看。」 2 我便立刻被聖靈感動，看見天上安設著一個寶座，有一位坐在寶座上， 3 閃耀著碧玉和紅寶石般的光彩。有一道翡翠般的彩虹圍繞著寶座。 4 寶座的周圍設有二十四個座位，有二十四位長老坐在上面，他們身穿白袍，頭戴金冠。 5 從寶座中有閃電、響聲、雷鳴發出，寶座前面燃燒著七把火炬，代表[a]上帝的七靈。 6 寶座前還有一個水晶般的玻璃海，寶座的四周有四個活物，他們前後都長滿了眼睛。 7 第一個活物像獅子，第二個像牛犢，第三個有人的面孔，第四個像飛鷹。 8 這四個活物各有三對翅膀，翅膀內外都長滿眼睛。他們晝夜不停地說：
「聖哉！聖哉！聖哉！
主上帝是昔在、今在、
以後永在的全能者。」
9 每逢這些活物將榮耀、尊貴、感謝獻給坐在寶座上、活到永永遠遠的那位時， 10 二十四位長老就俯伏在坐寶座的那位面前，敬拜那位永活者，又摘下他們頭上的冠冕，放在寶座前，說：
11 「我們的主，我們的上帝，
你配得榮耀、尊貴和權能，
因你創造了萬物，
萬物都因你的旨意被創造而存在。」
羔羊與封印的書卷
5 接著，我看見坐在寶座上的那位右手拿著一卷內外寫著字、用七個印封住的書。 2 有一位大力天使高聲問道：「誰有資格揭開那七個封印，打開那卷書？」 3 可是，天上、地上、甚至地底下都沒有人有資格揭開並閱讀那卷書。 4 我見無人有資格揭開並閱讀那卷書，便放聲大哭。 5 有一位長老對我說：「不要哭。你看，猶大支派的獅子、大衛的根已經得勝了！祂能揭開那七個封印，打開那卷書。」
6 我又看到寶座、四個活物和眾長老之間站著一隻好像是被宰殺過的羔羊。祂身上的七隻角和七隻眼睛代表奉差遣到普天下去的上帝的七靈。 7 那羔羊走上前去，從坐在寶座上的那位右手中接過書卷。 8 祂拿過書卷後，四個活物和二十四位長老就俯伏在羔羊面前，各拿著豎琴和盛滿了香的金香爐。那些香就是眾聖徒的祈禱。 9 他們唱著一首新歌：
「你配拿書卷並揭開封印，
因你曾被殺，
用你的血從各部落、各語言族群、各民族、各國家，
將人買贖回來歸給上帝。
10 你又使他們成為上帝的國度和祭司，
他們要在地上執掌王權。」
11 我看見寶座、四個活物和眾長老的周圍有千千萬萬的天使，又聽見他們高聲呼喊： 12 「那被殺的羔羊配得權柄、財富、智慧、能力、尊貴、榮耀和頌讚！」
13 我又聽到天上、地上、地底下和海洋中一切被造之物同聲說：「願頌讚、尊貴、榮耀和權柄都歸於坐在寶座上的那位和羔羊，直到永永遠遠！」 14 四個活物就說：「阿們！」眾長老也俯伏敬拜。
羔羊揭開前六印
6 然後，我看見羔羊揭開七印中的第一印，那時我聽見四個活物中的一個用如雷的聲音說：「來！」 2 我便觀看，見有一匹白馬，馬上的騎士拿著弓，他接受了賞賜給他的冠冕後，便四處征戰，戰無不勝。
3 羔羊揭開第二印時，我聽見第二個活物說：「來！」 4 這次出現了一匹紅馬，馬上的騎士獲得權柄和一把大刀，要奪取地上的和平，使人類互相廝殺。
5 揭開第三印的時候，我聽見第三個活物說：「來！」我便看見一匹黑馬，馬上的騎士手裡拿著天平。 6 我又聽見四個活物中好像有聲音說：「一升小麥值一個銀幣[b]，三升大麥也同價，油和酒都不要糟蹋。」
7 羔羊揭開第四印的時候，我聽到第四個活物說：「來！」 8 這次我看到一匹淺灰色的馬，馬上騎士的名字叫死亡，陰府緊跟在他後面。他們得到權力可以用刀劍、饑荒、瘟疫和野獸消滅全人類的四分之一。
9 羔羊揭開第五印的時候，我看到一個祭壇，祭壇下有許多靈魂，都是為傳揚上帝的道、為祂做見證而被殺的。 10 他們大聲喊著說：「聖潔真實的主宰啊，還要等多久呢？為什麼你還不審判地上那些屠殺我們的人，為我們伸冤呢？」 11 這時有白袍賜給他們，有聲音告訴他們要再稍候片刻，直到和他們同作奴僕的弟兄被殺害的數目滿了為止。
12 羔羊揭開第六印的時候，我看見大地震發生了，太陽變得像黑毛布一樣黑，整個月亮變成血紅色， 13 天上的星辰都墜落，好像未成熟的無花果被狂風吹落一般。 14 天空也像書卷被捲起來，所有的山嶺和海島都被挪離原位。 15 地上的君王、顯貴、將領、富豪、有勢力的、一切奴隸和自由人都躲藏在山洞裡和岩穴間。 16 他們哀求群山和岩石，說：「倒下來遮蓋我們，將我們藏起來吧！我們不敢面對寶座上的那位和羔羊的烈怒啊！ 17 因為祂們發烈怒的大日子到了，誰能站得住呢？」
為上帝的僕人蓋印
7 這些事情之後，我看見四位天使分別站在地的四個角落控制著四面的風，使風不再吹向地面、海洋和樹木。 2 我又看見一位天使從東方日出之地上來，手裡拿著永活上帝的印。他對那領受權柄能傷害地和海的四位天使大聲說： 3 「我們還沒在上帝的奴僕額上蓋印之前，你們不可傷害地、海和樹木。」 4 我聽見以色列各支派中蓋了印的共有十四萬四千人： 5 猶大支派有一萬二千，呂便支派有一萬二千，迦得支派有一萬二千， 6 亞設支派有一萬二千，拿弗他利支派有一萬二千，瑪拿西支派有一萬二千， 7 西緬支派有一萬二千，利未支派有一萬二千，以薩迦支派有一萬二千， 8 西布倫支派有一萬二千，約瑟支派有一萬二千，便雅憫支派有一萬二千。

9 後來我又看見一大群人，多得不可勝數。他們來自各國家、各部落、各民族、各語言族群，身穿白袍，手拿棕樹枝，站在寶座和羔羊面前， 10 大聲呼喊說：「救恩來自我們坐在寶座上的上帝，也來自羔羊！」 11 眾天使都站在寶座、眾長老和四個活物的周圍，在寶座前俯伏敬拜上帝，說： 12 「阿們！願頌讚、榮耀、智慧、感謝、尊貴、權柄、能力都歸給我們的上帝，直到永永遠遠。阿們！」
13 長老中有一位問我：「這些身穿白袍的人是誰？他們從哪裡來？」
14 我回答說：「先生，你知道答案。」
他便說：「這些都是經過大災難的人，他們用羔羊的血將衣裳洗得純淨潔白。 15 因此，他們在寶座前，在聖殿中不分晝夜地事奉上帝。坐在寶座上的那位要庇護他們。 16 他們不會再受饑餓和乾渴的折磨，也不會再受太陽和酷熱的煎熬， 17 因為在寶座中央的羔羊要作他們的牧人，引導他們到生命之泉那裡，上帝要擦乾他們所有的眼淚。」
揭開第七印
8 羔羊揭開第七印時，天上寂靜無聲，約半小時。 2 然後，我看見站在上帝面前的七位天使領受了七支號角。
3 另一位天使手裡拿著金香爐上前來，站在祭壇旁邊。他接過了許多香，把香和眾聖徒的祈禱一起獻在寶座前的金壇上。 4 這香發出的煙，連同眾聖徒的禱告從那天使的手中向上升，直達上帝面前。 5 天使又拿著香爐，盛滿祭壇的火，將它倒在地上，於是有雷鳴、巨響、閃電和地震。
天使吹號
6 這時，那七位拿著號角的天使也預備要吹號。
7 第一位天使吹響號角的時候，冰雹和火攙雜著血從天上傾盆而下。地的三分之一、樹木的三分之一和一切的青草都被燒毀了。
8 第二位天使吹號的時候，一座好像燃燒的大山被丟進海裡。海洋的三分之一變成了血， 9 海中的活物死了三分之一，船隻也被毀了三分之一。
10 第三位天使吹號的時候，有一顆好像火炬般燃燒著的巨星從天上墜落在三分之一的江河溪流和水泉裡。 11 這顆星名叫「苦艾」，它使三分之一的水都變苦了，許多人因為喝了這種苦水而死去。
12 第四位天使吹號的時候，太陽、月亮和星辰的三分之一都受到重擊，以致失去了光輝，於是日間的三分之一黯淡無光，夜間也是如此。 13 我又看見有一隻鷹在半空中飛翔，聽見牠大聲宣告：「有禍了！有禍了！世上的居民有禍了！還有三位天使要吹響號角。」

4 After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open(A) in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet(B) said, “Come up here,(C) and I will show you what must take place after this.”(D) 2 At once I was in the Spirit,(E) and there before me was a throne in heaven(F) with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper(G) and ruby.(H) A rainbow(I) that shone like an emerald(J) encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders.(K) They were dressed in white(L) and had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder.(M) In front of the throne, seven lamps(N) were blazing. These are the seven spirits[a](O) of God. 6 Also in front of the throne there was what looked like a sea of glass,(P) clear as crystal.
In the center, around the throne, were four living creatures,(Q) and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back.(R) 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.(S) 8 Each of the four living creatures(T) had six wings(U) and was covered with eyes all around,(V) even under its wings. Day and night(W) they never stop saying:
9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne(Z) and who lives for ever and ever,(AA) 10 the twenty-four elders(AB) fall down before him(AC) who sits on the throne(AD) and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:
11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,(AE)
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”(AF)
The Scroll and the Lamb
5 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne(AG) a scroll with writing on both sides(AH) and sealed(AI) with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel(AJ) proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion(AK) of the tribe of Judah,(AL) the Root of David,(AM) has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 Then I saw a Lamb,(AN) looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures(AO) and the elders.(AP) The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes,(AQ) which are the seven spirits[c](AR) of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.(AS) 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures(AT) and the twenty-four elders(AU) fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp(AV) and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers(AW) of God’s people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:(AX)
“You are worthy(AY) to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood(AZ) you purchased(BA) for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.(BB)
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests(BC) to serve our God,
and they will reign[d] on the earth.”(BD)
11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand.(BE) They encircled the throne and the living creatures(BF) and the elders.(BG) 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb,(BH) who was slain,(BI)
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”(BJ)
13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth(BK) and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
“To him who sits on the throne(BL) and to the Lamb(BM)
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”(BN)
14 The four living creatures(BO) said, “Amen,”(BP) and the elders(BQ) fell down and worshiped.(BR)
The Seals
6 I watched as the Lamb(BS) opened the first of the seven seals.(BT) Then I heard one of the four living creatures(BU) say in a voice like thunder,(BV) “Come!” 2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse!(BW) Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown,(BX) and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.(BY)
3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature(BZ) say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one.(CA) Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth(CB) and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.
5 When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature(CC) say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse!(CD) Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6 Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures,(CE) saying, “Two pounds[e] of wheat for a day’s wages,[f] and six pounds[g] of barley for a day’s wages,[h](CF) and do not damage(CG) the oil and the wine!”
7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature(CH) say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse!(CI) Its rider was named Death, and Hades(CJ) was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.(CK)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under(CL) the altar(CM) the souls of those who had been slain(CN) because of the word of God(CO) and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long,(CP) Sovereign Lord,(CQ) holy and true,(CR) until you judge the inhabitants of the earth(CS) and avenge our blood?”(CT) 11 Then each of them was given a white robe,(CU) and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters,[i] were killed just as they had been.(CV)
12 I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake.(CW) The sun turned black(CX) like sackcloth(CY) made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13 and the stars in the sky fell to earth,(CZ) as figs drop from a fig tree(DA) when shaken by a strong wind. 14 The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up,(DB) and every mountain and island was removed from its place.(DC)
15 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free,(DD) hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.(DE) 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us(DF) and hide us[j] from the face of him who sits on the throne(DG) and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day(DH) of their[k] wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”(DI)
144,000 Sealed
7 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners(DJ) of the earth, holding back the four winds(DK) of the earth to prevent(DL) any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal(DM) of the living God.(DN) He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea:(DO) 3 “Do not harm(DP) the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads(DQ) of the servants of our God.” 4 Then I heard the number(DR) of those who were sealed: 144,000(DS) from all the tribes of Israel.
5 From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,
from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,
from the tribe of Gad 12,000,
6 from the tribe of Asher 12,000,
from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,
from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,
7 from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,
from the tribe of Levi 12,000,
from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,
8 from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,
from the tribe of Joseph 12,000,
from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.
The Great Multitude in White Robes
9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language,(DT) standing before the throne(DU) and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes(DV) and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 And they cried out in a loud voice:
11 All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders(DY) and the four living creatures.(DZ) They fell down on their faces(EA) before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:
“Amen!
Praise and glory
and wisdom and thanks and honor
and power and strength
be to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!”(EB)
13 Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes(EC)—who are they, and where did they come from?”
14 I answered, “Sir, you know.”
And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes(ED) and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.(EE) 15 Therefore,
“they are before the throne of God(EF)
and serve him(EG) day and night in his temple;(EH)
and he who sits on the throne(EI)
will shelter them with his presence.(EJ)
16 ‘Never again will they hunger;
never again will they thirst.(EK)
The sun will not beat down on them,’[l]
nor any scorching heat.(EL)
17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd;(EM)
‘he will lead them to springs of living water.’[m](EN)
‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.’[n]”(EO)
The Seventh Seal and the Golden Censer
8 When he opened the seventh seal,(EP) there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
2 And I saw the seven angels(EQ) who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.(ER)
3 Another angel,(ES) who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people,(ET) on the golden altar(EU) in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God(EV) from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar,(EW) and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder,(EX) rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.(EY)
The Trumpets
6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets(EZ) prepared to sound them.
7 The first angel(FA) sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire(FB) mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third(FC) of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.(FD)
8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain,(FE) all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third(FF) of the sea turned into blood,(FG) 9 a third(FH) of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky(FI) on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water(FJ)— 11 the name of the star is Wormwood.[o] A third(FK) of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.(FL)
12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third(FM) of them turned dark.(FN) A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.(FO)
13 As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair(FP) call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe(FQ) to the inhabitants of the earth,(FR) because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!”
