O Livro
Introdução
1 Este livro revela acontecimentos que se hão de dar num futuro próximo, dizendo respeito a Jesus Cristo, e que Deus revelou por intermédio de João, seu servo, a quem foi enviado um anjo para lhe explicar o significado dessas coisas. 2 E João dá aqui testemunho das palavras de Deus, do que lhe foi revelado por Jesus Cristo, e do que viu e ouviu.
3 Felizes aqueles que lerem o conteúdo desta profecia, e também os que ouvirem e aceitarem tudo o que nela está escrito, porque está próximo o tempo.
Saudações
4 João, às sete igrejas da província da Ásia.
Que vos sejam concedidas a graça e a paz daquele que é, que era e que há de vir, e também dos sete espíritos que se acham diante do seu trono, 5 assim como da parte de Jesus Cristo, a testemunha fiel, o primeiro dos ressuscitados, o soberano dos reis da Terra.
A esse que nos ama e nos lavou dos nossos pecados pelo seu sangue, 6 nos reuniu no seu reino e nos fez sacerdotes de Deus, seu Pai, seja dada toda a honra e reconhecido o seu poder para sempre. Que assim seja!
7 Eis que ele vem rodeado de nuvens,
e toda a gente o verá,
até mesmo aqueles que o trespassaram.[a]
E as nações se lamentarão por causa dele.
Sim, isso é que há de acontecer!
8 “Eu sou o Alfa e o Ómega”,[b] diz o Senhor Deus, Todo-Poderoso, que é, que era, e que virá!
A visão do Filho do Homem
9 Eu, João, sou vosso irmão em Jesus e companheiro nos sofrimentos, na paciência e no reino. Estava eu exilado na ilha de Patmos, por ter pregado a palavra de Deus e falado sobre Jesus Cristo, 10 quando, no dia do Senhor, fui tomado pelo Espírito e ouvi uma voz muito forte por detrás de mim, com um timbre semelhante ao de uma trombeta. 11 E dizia: “Põe por escrito aquilo que vires e envia-o às sete igrejas que estão na província da Ásia: Éfeso, Esmirna, Pérgamo, Tiatira, Sardo, Filadélfia e Laodiceia.”
12 Na altura em que me virei para saber quem é que estava a falar comigo, vi sete castiçais de ouro. 13 E no meio deles estava o Filho do Homem. Trazia um manto que lhe chegava aos pés e uma faixa de ouro em volta do peito. 14 Os seus cabelos eram brancos como a lã, ou como a neve, e os olhos brilhavam como chamas ardentes. 15 Os pés reluziam como bronze polido e a sua voz tinha a majestade das grandes vagas. 16 Segurava na mão direita sete estrelas e na boca uma afiada espada de dois fios; o esplendor do seu rosto era como o do Sol na sua maior força.
17 Quando o vi, caí a seus pés como morto. Mas ele pôs sobre mim a mão direita e disse-me: “Não tenhas medo! Sou eu, o primeiro e o último! 18 Sou aquele que está vivo! Que foi morto, mas agora vive eternamente. Eu tenho as chaves da morte e do inferno. 19 Escreve o que tens visto e que diz respeito tanto ao tempo presente como ao futuro. 20 Este é o significado das sete estrelas que viste na minha mão direita, assim como dos sete castiçais de ouro: as sete estrelas são os mensageiros[c] das sete igrejas e os sete castiçais são as próprias igrejas.
A mensagem para a igreja em Éfeso
2 Ao mensageiro da igreja em Éfeso escreve:
Isto é o que te diz aquele que anda entre os sete castiçais de ouro, sustentando as sete estrelas com a mão direita. 2 Eu conheço as coisas que tens feito. Observei o teu trabalho e a tua perseverança. Sei que não podes tolerar os maus e que soubeste pôr à prova os que se dizem apóstolos e não o são, verificando que são mentirosos. 3 Tens perseverança e tens sofrido por minha causa sem te cansares.
4 Há contudo uma coisa que tenho contra ti: o teu amor já não é como no princípio. 5 Lembra-te, pois, desses primeiros tempos, arrepende-te e trabalha como fazias antes; caso contrário, brevemente virei e tirarei o teu castiçal do seu lugar se não te arrependeres. 6 Há porém isto de bom a teu respeito: é que detestas as obras dos nicolaítas, como eu também.
7 Quem pode ouvir, ouça o que o Espírito diz às igrejas. Ao que vencer, darei a comer do fruto da árvore da vida que está no paraíso de Deus.
A mensagem para a igreja em Esmirna
8 Ao mensageiro da igreja em Esmirna escreve:
Isto é o que diz aquele que é o primeiro e o último, que foi morto e voltou à vida. 9 Eu sei tudo o que tens sofrido. Conheço a tua pobreza e, contudo, és rico! Estou ao corrente das calúnias dos que se dizem judeus, mas não o são; são antes uma congregação de Satanás. 10 Não receies aquilo que virás a sofrer. O Diabo vai lançar alguns de vocês na prisão, para vos pôr à prova.
Hão de ser perseguidos durante dez dias. Sê fiel até à morte e eu te darei a coroa da vida.
11 Quem pode ouvir, que ouça o que o Espírito está a dizer às igrejas. O que vencer não terá de sofrer a segunda morte.
A mensagem para a igreja em Pérgamo
12 Ao mensageiro da igreja em Pérgamo escreve:
Isto é o que te diz aquele que tem a espada aguda de dois fios. 13 Eu sei onde vives, que é onde está o trono de Satanás. Apesar disso, permaneces fiel e recusaste negar-me, quando Antipas, minha testemunha fiel, foi martirizado no vosso meio, onde Satanás domina.
14 Contudo, tenho umas quantas coisas contra ti. Toleras no teu meio uma gente que faz como Balaão, quando ensinou Balaque a seduzir o povo de Israel, convidando-o a comer dos sacrifícios aos ídolos e a entregar-se à imoralidade sexual. 15 Tu também tens seguidores do ensino dos nicolaítas. 16 Arrepende-te! Caso contrário, em breve virei e lutarei contra eles com a espada da minha boca.
17 Quem pode ouvir, ouça o que o Espírito diz às igrejas. O que vencer comerá do maná escondido e a cada um darei uma pedra branca em que estará gravado um nome novo que ninguém mais conhece a não ser aquele que o recebe.
A mensagem para a igreja em Tiatira
18 Ao mensageiro da igreja em Tiatira escreve:
Isto diz o Filho de Deus, cujos olhos são como labaredas de fogo, cujos pés são como bronze polido. 19 Conheço as tuas obras, o teu amor, o teu serviço, a tua fé e a tua paciência. Vejo que tem havido progresso em todas estas coisas.
20 Mas tenho isto contra ti: permites que essa mulher, Jezabel, que se considera ela própria profetiza, engane os meus servos ensinando-os a praticar a imoralidade sexual e a comerem dos sacrifícios oferecidos aos ídolos. 21 Dei-lhe tempo para se arrepender, mas recusou. Não quer converter-se da sua imoralidade sexual. 22 Eu a porei numa cama e trarei sobre todos os que adulteram com ela uma grande tribulação, a menos que se arrependam das suas obras. 23 E ferirei de morte os seus filhos. E todas as igrejas saberão que eu conheço a mente e o coração dos homens. Darei a cada um aquilo que merece, segundo as suas obras. 24 Quanto aos restantes membros da igreja em Tiatira, que não seguiram estes falsos ensinos (que não são mais do que profundezas de Satanás), nada mais vos pedirei, além do que já pedi. 25 Aquilo que já têm retenham-no, porém, até que eu venha.
26 E ao que vencer, que fizer até ao fim o que me agrada, dar-lhe-ei autoridade sobre as nações, 27 para governá-las com uma vara de ferro, segundo a autoridade que também recebi de meu Pai, e poderá destruí-las como se quebra um vaso de barro. 28 E dar-lhe-ei a estrela da manhã!
29 Os que podem ouvir, que ouçam o que o Espírito diz às igrejas.
A mensagem para a igreja em Sardo
3 Ao mensageiro da igreja em Sardo escreve:
Isto é o que te diz aquele que tem os sete espíritos de Deus e as sete estrelas. Eu conheço as tuas obras e a reputação de que estás vivo, mas o facto é que estás morto. 2 Portanto desperta! Reanima os que restam e que estão a ponto de morrer. Porque as tuas obras não satisfazem a exigência do meu Deus. 3 Lembra-te daquilo que ouviste e aceitaste no princípio. Guarda-o e arrepende-te! Porque se não estiveres atento, aparecer-te-ei, subitamente, como um assaltante. Tu não sabes a que hora virei.
4 Mas aí mesmo em Sardo tens alguns que não mancharam as suas roupas; esses andarão comigo vestidos de branco, pois são dignos disso. 5 O que vencer será vestido de branco e nunca mais apagarei o seu nome do livro da vida. Pelo contrário, hei de reconhecê-lo como meu diante de meu Pai e dos seus anjos.
6 Todo aquele que puder ouvir, que ouça o que o Espírito diz às igrejas.
A mensagem para a igreja em Filadélfia
7 Ao mensageiro da igreja em Filadélfia escreve:
Isto é o que te diz aquele que é santo e verdadeiro, e que tem a chave de David, para abrir sem que mais ninguém venha a fechar e fechar sem que mais ninguém possa vir a abrir. 8 Conheço toda a tua atividade. Abri diante de ti uma porta que ninguém poderá fechar. É verdade que tens pouca força, mas obedeceste à minha palavra e não negaste o meu nome. 9 Obrigarei todos os que sustentam a causa de Satanás, que se consideram judeus e não o são, pois são mentirosos, a curvarem-se a teus pés e a reconhecerem que é a ti que eu amo. 10 Visto que obedeceste à minha palavra para perseverar pacientemente, também te livrarei da hora da tribulação que há de vir sobre todo o mundo, para pôr à prova os que habitam na Terra.
11 Em breve virei. Conserva firmemente o que tens, para que ninguém te roube o coroa da vitória. 12 Ao que vencer, farei dele uma coluna do templo do meu Deus. E nunca mais de lá sairá! Nele escreverei o nome do meu Deus e da sua cidade, a nova Jerusalém que desce do céu, vinda de Deus, e da qual será cidadão. E também terá nele gravado o meu novo nome.
13 Quem puder ouvir, que ouça o que o Espírito diz às igrejas.
A mensagem para a igreja em Laodiceia
14 Ao mensageiro da igreja em Laodiceia escreve:
Isto é o que te diz aquele que cumpre firmemente tudo o que diz, a testemunha fiel da verdade, aquele que governa a criação de Deus. 15 Conheço tudo o que fazes. Sei que nem és frio nem quente. Antes fosses uma coisa ou outra[d]. 16 Mas visto que és apenas morno (nem quente nem frio), hei de vomitar-te da minha boca! 17 Dizes: ‘Sou rico, tenho tudo o que é preciso, não me falta nada!’ E não te dás conta que és um desgraçado, um miserável, pobre, cego e nu. 18 Aconselho-te que compres de mim ouro puro, ouro purificado pelo fogo (só assim serás realmente rico) e que obtenhas de mim vestes brancas, para que não fiques nu e envergonhado; e que adquiras o meu remédio para te curar os olhos e para que possas ver com clareza.
19 Eu corrijo e castigo todos quantos amo. Arrepende-te, abandona a tua indiferença e torna-te zeloso!
20 Eis que estou à porta e bato. Se alguém ouvir a minha voz e abrir a porta, entrarei e tomaremos juntos uma refeição, em íntima companhia. 21 Concederei que todo aquele que vencer se sente ao meu lado no meu trono, tal como eu me sentei com o meu Pai no seu trono, quando me tornei vencedor.
22 Quem pode ouvir, que ouça o que o Espírito está a dizer às igrejas.”
O trono no céu
4 Depois disto olhei e vi uma porta aberta no céu. E a primeira voz que ouvi, semelhante ao toque de uma trombeta, falou comigo e disse: “Sobe aqui e eu te mostrarei o que há de acontecer no futuro.” 2 E logo me encontrei em espírito no céu e ali, diante dos meus olhos, deparei com um trono e alguém sentado sobre ele. 3 E jorravam cintilações daquele que estava sentado no trono, como de um diamante ou de um rubi, e um arco-íris fulgurante como uma esmeralda envolvia esse trono. 4 E outros vinte e quatro tronos estavam à volta do primeiro, e vinte e quatro anciãos se sentavam neles, todos vestidos de branco com coroas de ouro nas suas cabeças. 5 E saíam relâmpagos e trovões do trono e misturados com eles ouviam-se vozes. Diante do trono estavam sete fachos acesos, que são os sete espíritos de Deus. 6 Na parte da frente do trono estendia-se um mar de vidro cuja superfície brilhava como cristal.
Diante e em volta do trono havia quatro seres viventes, cheios de olhos à frente e atrás. 7 O primeiro desses seres tinha a forma de um leão; o segundo parecia um bezerro; o terceiro tinha o rosto de um homem; e o quarto a forma de uma águia, com as asas abertas como se estivesse a voar. 8 Cada um destes seres viventes tinha seis asas e estavam totalmente cobertos de olhos, mesmo debaixo das asas. E de dia e de noite, sem descanso, diziam:
“Santo, santo, santo
é o Senhor Deus, que tem todo o poder,
que era, que é, e que há de vir.”[e]
9 E quando os seres viventes davam glória, honra e graças àquele que está sentado no trono e que vive para todo o sempre, 10 os vinte e quatro anciãos lançaram-se aos seus pés e adoraram esse cuja vida não tem limite de tempo, e lançaram as suas coroas diante do trono dizendo:
11 “Tu, nosso Senhor e nosso Deus,
és digno de receber glória, honra e poder
porque criaste todas as coisas.
É por tua vontade que elas existem.”
O livro e o Cordeiro
5 E vi um livro na mão direita daquele que estava sentado no trono, livro esse escrito por dentro e por fora, mas fechado com sete selos. 2 E um anjo poderoso bradou em alta voz: “Quem é digno de quebrar os selos deste livro e abri-lo?” 3 Mas ninguém houve, nem no céu, nem na Terra, nem debaixo da terra, que tivesse o direito de abrir o livro e de ver o que estava lá escrito.
4 Chorei então abundantemente pelo facto de em parte alguma se achar alguém digno de o abrir e o ler. 5 Mas um dos vinte e quatro anciãos disse-me: “Não chores mais; aqui está o Leão da tribo de Judá, a própria raiz de David, que venceu e mostrou ser digno de quebrar os sete selos e de abrir o livro.”
6 Olhei e vi um Cordeiro de pé, no meio do trono, com os quatro seres viventes e os vinte e quatro anciãos à volta, e trazia sinais de ter sido morto. Tinha sete chifres e sete olhos, que são os sete espíritos de Deus enviados por toda a Terra. 7 Então avançou e tomou o livro da mão direita do que estava sentado no trono. 8 E depois de ter ficado com o livro, os quatro seres viventes e os vinte e quatro anciãos inclinaram-se até à terra, na frente do Cordeiro, tendo cada um uma harpa e taças de ouro cheias de incenso, que são as orações do povo de Deus.
9 E cantavam um cântico, que antes ainda não fora cantado, que tinha as seguintes palavras:
“Só tu és digno de tomar o livro,
de quebrar os selos e de o abrir;
porque foste morto e com teu sangue compraste para Deus
gente de todas as nações, raças e línguas.
10 E os reuniste num reino, fizeste deles sacerdotes do nosso Deus
e um dia governarão na Terra.”
11 Depois, olhei de novo e ouvi o canto de uma multidão de milhões e milhões de anjos que rodeavam o trono, os seres viventes e os anciãos. 12 E cantavam com voz forte:
“O Cordeiro, que foi imolado,
é o único que é digno de receber
o poder, a riqueza, a força, a sabedoria,
a honra, a glória, e o louvor.”
13 Então ouvi todas as criaturas que existem no céu, na Terra, debaixo da Terra e no mar exclamar:
“O louvor, a honra, a glória e o poder
pertencem àquele que está sentado no trono e ao Cordeiro
para sempre e sempre.”
14 E os quatro seres viventes respondiam: “Que assim seja!” E os vinte e quatro anciãos inclinaram-se e adoraram.

The Vision of the Son of Man

To the Church in Ephesus

This is what the One who holds (BZ)the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks [l](CA)among the seven golden lampstands, says:
2 ‘(CB)I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot bear with those who are evil, and you (CC)put to the test those who call themselves (CD)apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false; 3 and you have perseverance and have [m]endured (CE)for My name’s sake, you also have not grown weary. 4 But I have this against you, that you have (CF)left your first love. 5 Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and (CG)repent and (CH)do the [n]deeds you did at first. To the Church in Smyrna
8 “And to the angel of the church in (CO)Smyrna write:

9 ‘I know your (CR)tribulation and your (CS)poverty (but you are (CT)rich), and the blasphemy by those who (CU)say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of (CV)Satan. 10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be (CW)tested, and you will have tribulation (CX)for ten days. [p]Be (CY)faithful until death, and I will give you (CZ)the crown of life. 11 (DA)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (DB)He who overcomes will never be hurt by the (DC)second death.’
To the Church in Pergamum
12 “And to the angel of the church in (DD)Pergamum write:
This is what the One who has (DE)the sharp two-edged sword says:
13 ‘I know where you dwell, where (DF)Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny (DG)My faith even in the days of Antipas, My (DH)witness, My (DI)faithful one, who was killed among you, (DJ)where Satan dwells. 14 But (DK)I have a few things against you, that you have there some who hold the (DL)teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, (DM)to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality. 15 So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the (DN)Nicolaitans. 16 Therefore (DO)repent. But if not, (DP)I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with (DQ)the sword of My mouth. 17 (DR)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the Church in Thyatira
18 “And to the angel of the church in (DW)Thyatira write:
(DX)This is what the Son of God, the One (DY)who has [q]eyes like a flame of fire and His feet are like burnished bronze, says:
19 ‘(DZ)I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, and that your last deeds are greater than [r]at first. 20 But (EA)I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman (EB)Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and deceives My slaves so that they (EC)commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. 21 (ED)And I gave her time to repent, and she (EE)does not wish to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her [s]on a bed of sickness, and those who (EF)commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of [t]her deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with [u]pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who (EG)searches the [v]minds and hearts; and (EH)I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. 24 But I say to you, the rest who are in (EI)Thyatira, who do not have this teaching, who have not known the (EJ)deep things of Satan, as they call them—I (EK)place no other burden on you. 25 Nevertheless (EL)what you have, hold fast (EM)until I come. 26 (EN)And he who overcomes, and he who keeps My deeds (EO)until the end, (EP)to him I will give authority over the [w]nations; 27 and he shall [x](EQ)rule them with a rod of iron, (ER)as the vessels of the potter are broken to pieces, as I also have received authority from My Father; 28 and I will give him (ES)the morning star. 29 (ET)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
To the Church in Sardis
3 “And to the angel of the church in (EU)Sardis write:
This is what He who has (EV)the seven Spirits of God and (EW)the seven stars, says: ‘(EX)I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, [y]but you are (EY)dead. 2 Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of My God. 3 So (EZ)remember [z]what you have received and heard; and keep it, and (FA)repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, (FB)I will come (FC)like a thief, and you will not know at (FD)what hour I will come to you. 4 But you have a few [aa](FE)names in (FF)Sardis who have not (FG)defiled their garments, and they will walk with Me (FH)in white, for they are worthy. 5 (FI)He who overcomes will thus be clothed in (FJ)white garments, and I will never (FK)erase his name from the book of life, and (FL)I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. 6 (FM)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
To the Church in Philadelphia
7 “And to the angel of the church in (FN)Philadelphia write:
(FO)This is what He who is holy, (FP)who is true, who has (FQ)the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says:
8 ‘(FR)I know your [ab]deeds. Behold, I have given before you (FS)an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have kept My word, and (FT)have not denied My name. 9 Behold, I am giving up those of (FU)the synagogue of Satan, those who say that they are Jews and are not, but lie. Behold, I will make them (FV)come and bow down before your feet, and make them know that (FW)I have loved you. 10 Because you have (FX)kept the word of (FY)My perseverance, (FZ)I also will keep you from the hour of [ac](GA)testing, which is about to come upon the whole [ad](GB)world, to [ae]test (GC)those who dwell on the earth. 11 (GD)I am coming quickly; (GE)hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your (GF)crown. 12 (GG)He who overcomes, I will make him a (GH)pillar in the sanctuary of My God, and he will never go out from it anymore. And I will write on him the (GI)name of My God, and (GJ)the name of the city of My God, (GK)the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My (GL)new name. 13 (GM)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
To the Church in Laodicea
14 “And to the angel of the church in (GN)Laodicea write:
(GO)This is what the Amen, (GP)the faithful and true Witness, (GQ)the [af]Beginning of the creation of God, says:
15 ‘(GR)I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. (GS)I wish that you were cold or hot. 16 So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will [ag]spit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, “(GT)I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and pitiable and poor and blind and naked. 18 I advise you to (GU)buy from Me (GV)gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and (GW)white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that (GX)the shame of your nakedness will not be manifested; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. 19 (GY)Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline. Therefore be zealous and (GZ)repent. 20 Behold, I stand (HA)at the door and (HB)knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, (HC)I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. 21 (HD)He who overcomes, I will grant to him (HE)to sit down with Me on My throne, as (HF)I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 (HG)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”
The Throne in Heaven
4 After (HH)these things I looked, and behold, (HI)a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, (HJ)like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, “(HK)Come up here, and I will (HL)show you what must take place after these things.” 2 Immediately I was [ah](HM)in the Spirit, and behold, (HN)a throne was standing in heaven, and (HO)One sitting on the throne. 3 And He who was sitting was like a (HP)jasper stone and a (HQ)sardius in appearance; and there was a [ai](HR)rainbow around the throne, like an (HS)emerald in appearance. 4 (HT)Around the throne were (HU)twenty-four thrones, and upon those thrones I saw (HV)twenty-four elders (HW)sitting, clothed in (HX)white garments, and (HY)golden crowns on their heads. 5 And out from the throne come (HZ)flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder. And there were (IA)seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are (IB)the seven Spirits of God. 6 And before the throne there was something like a (IC)sea of glass, like crystal. And in the [aj]center and (ID)around the throne, (IE)four living creatures (IF)full of eyes in front and behind. 7 (IG)And the first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle. 8 And the (IH)four living creatures, each one of them having (II)six wings, are (IJ)full of eyes around and within, and (IK)day and night [ak]they do not cease to say,
“(IL)Holy, holy, holy is the [al](IM)Lord God, the Almighty, (IN)who was and who is and who [am]is to come.”
9 And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who (IO)sits on the throne, to (IP)Him who lives forever and ever, 10 the (IQ)twenty-four elders will (IR)fall down before Him who (IS)sits on the throne, and will worship (IT)Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their (IU)crowns before the throne, saying,
11 “(IV)Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You (IW)created all things, and because of Your will they [an]existed, and were created.”
The Scroll and the Lamb
5 Then I saw [ao]in the right hand of Him who (IX)sits on the throne a (IY)scroll written inside and on the back, (IZ)sealed up with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a (JA)strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to break its seals?” 3 And no one (JB)in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it. 4 Then I was crying greatly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. 5 And one of the elders *said to me, “Stop crying! Behold, the (JC)Lion that is (JD)from the tribe of Judah, the (JE)Root of David, has overcome so as to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 Then I saw in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and in the midst of (JF)the elders a (JG)Lamb standing, as if (JH)slain, having seven (JI)horns and (JJ)seven eyes, which are (JK)the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. 7 And He came and took (JL)the scroll out of the right hand of Him who (JM)sits on the throne. 8 And when He had taken the scroll, the (JN)four living creatures and the (JO)twenty-four elders (JP)fell down before the (JQ)Lamb, each one having a (JR)harp and (JS)golden bowls full of incense, which are the (JT)prayers of the [ap]saints. 9 And they *sang a (JU)new song, saying,
“(JV)Worthy are You to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were (JW)slain and (JX)purchased for God with Your blood people from (JY)every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
10 And You made them to be a (JZ)kingdom and (KA)priests to our God, and they will (KB)reign upon the earth.”
Angels Worship the Lamb
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels (KC)around the throne and the (KD)living creatures and the (KE)elders; and the number of them was (KF)myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,
“(KG)Worthy is the (KH)Lamb that was (KI)slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”
13 And (KJ)every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying,
“To Him who (KK)sits on the throne, and to the (KL)Lamb, (KM)be the blessing and the honor and the glory and the might forever and ever.”
14 And the (KN)four living creatures kept saying, “(KO)Amen.” And the (KP)elders (KQ)fell down and worshiped.
