For the Lord appeared unto him, and said, [a]Go not down into Egypt, but abide in the land which I shall show thee.

Dwell in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee: for to thee, and to thy seed I will give all these (A)countries, and I will perform the oath which I swear unto Abraham thy father.

Also I will cause thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries: and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be (B)blessed,

Because that Abraham [b]obeyed my voice and kept mine [c]ordinance, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

¶ So Isaac dwelt in Gerar.
