8 Dios se acordó entonces de Noé y de todos los animales salvajes y domésticos que estaban con él en el arca. Hizo que soplara un fuerte viento sobre la tierra y las aguas comenzaron a bajar. 2 Se cerraron las fuentes del mar profundo y las compuertas del cielo, y dejó de llover. 3 Poco a poco las aguas se fueron retirando de la tierra. Al cabo de ciento cincuenta días las aguas habían disminuido. 4 El día diecisiete del mes séptimo el arca se detuvo sobre las montañas de Ararat. 5 Las aguas siguieron bajando hasta que el primer día del mes décimo pudieron verse las cimas de las montañas.
6 Después de cuarenta días, Noé abrió la ventana del arca que había hecho 7 y soltó un cuervo, el cual estuvo volando de un lado a otro a la espera de que se secara la tierra. 8 Luego soltó una paloma para ver si las aguas que cubrían la tierra ya se habían retirado. 9 Pero la paloma no encontró un lugar donde posarse y volvió al arca porque las aguas aún cubrían la tierra. Noé extendió la mano, tomó la paloma y la metió consigo en el arca. 10 Esperó siete días más y volvió a soltar la paloma fuera del arca. 11 Caía la noche cuando la paloma regresó trayendo en su pico una hoja de olivo recién cortada. Así Noé se dio cuenta de que las aguas habían bajado hasta dejar la tierra al descubierto. 12 Esperó siete días más y volvió a soltar la paloma, pero esta vez la paloma ya no regresó.
13 Noé tenía seiscientos un años cuando las aguas se secaron. El primer día del primer mes de ese año, Noé quitó la cubierta del arca y vio que la tierra estaba seca. 14 Para el día veintisiete del segundo mes, la tierra estaba ya completamente seca.
15 Entonces Dios dijo a Noé: 16 «¡Sal del arca junto con tus hijos, tu esposa y tus nueras! 17 Saca también a todos los seres vivientes que están contigo: las aves, el ganado y todos los animales que se arrastran por el suelo. Que sean fecundos y que se multipliquen y llenen la tierra».
18 Salieron, pues, del arca Noé y sus hijos, su esposa y sus nueras. 19 También salieron todos los animales, las criaturas que se mueven en la tierra y las aves. Todos los seres vivientes que se mueven sobre la tierra, cada uno según su especie.
20 Luego Noé construyó un altar[a] al Señor, y sobre ese altar ofreció como holocausto animales y aves puros. 21 Cuando el Señor percibió el grato aroma, se dijo a sí mismo: «Aunque la inclinación del corazón del ser humano es perversa desde su juventud, nunca más volveré a maldecir la tierra por culpa suya. Tampoco volveré a destruir a todos los seres vivientes, como acabo de hacerlo.
22 »Mientras la tierra exista,
habrá siembra y cosecha,
frío y calor,
verano e invierno,
días y noches».
El pacto de Dios con Noé
9 Dios bendijo a Noé y a sus hijos con estas palabras: «¡Sean fructíferos, multiplíquense y llenen la tierra! 2 Todos los animales de la tierra tendrán temor y miedo ante ustedes: las aves, las bestias salvajes, los animales que se arrastran por el suelo y los peces del mar. Todos estarán bajo su dominio. 3 Todo lo que se mueve y tiene vida, al igual que las verduras, les servirá de alimento. Yo les doy todo esto.
4 »Pero no deberán comer carne con sangre; la sangre es vida. 5 Por cierto, de la sangre de ustedes yo habré de pedirles cuentas. A todos los animales y a todos los seres humanos pediré cuentas de la vida de sus semejantes.
6 »Si alguien derrama la sangre de un ser humano,
otro ser humano derramará la suya,
porque el ser humano ha sido creado
a imagen de Dios mismo.
7 »En cuanto a ustedes, sean fructíferos y multiplíquense; sí, multiplíquense y llenen la tierra».
8 Dios habló otra vez a Noé y a sus hijos y dijo: 9 «Yo establezco mi pacto con ustedes, con sus descendientes 10 y con todos los seres vivientes que están con ustedes, es decir, con todos los seres vivientes de la tierra que salieron del arca: las aves, y los animales domésticos y salvajes. 11 Este es mi pacto con ustedes: Nunca más serán exterminados todos los seres vivientes por las aguas de un diluvio; nunca más habrá un diluvio que destruya la tierra».
12 Y Dios añadió: «Esta es la señal del pacto que establezco para siempre con ustedes y con todos los seres vivientes que los acompañan: 13 He colocado mi arcoíris en las nubes, el cual servirá como señal de mi pacto con la tierra. 14 Cuando yo cubra la tierra de nubes y en ellas aparezca el arcoíris, 15 me acordaré del pacto que he establecido con ustedes y con todos los seres vivientes. Nunca más las aguas se convertirán en un diluvio para destruir a todos los mortales. 16 Cada vez que aparezca el arcoíris entre las nubes, yo lo veré y me acordaré del pacto que establecí para siempre con todos los seres vivientes que hay sobre la tierra».
17 Dios concluyó diciéndole a Noé: «Esta es la señal de mi pacto, que establezco con todos los seres vivientes que hay en la tierra».
Los hijos de Noé
18 Los hijos de Noé que salieron del arca fueron: Sem, Cam y Jafet. Cam fue el padre de Canaán. 19 Estos fueron los tres hijos de Noé que con su descendencia poblaron toda la tierra.
20 Noé se dedicó a cultivar la tierra y plantó una viña. 21 Un día, bebió vino y se embriagó, quedándose desnudo dentro de su tienda de campaña. 22 Cam, el padre de Canaán, vio la desnudez de su padre y fue a contárselo a sus hermanos que estaban afuera. 23 Entonces Sem y Jafet tomaron un manto, se lo echaron sobre los hombros y caminando hacia atrás, cubrieron la desnudez de su padre. Como miraban en dirección opuesta, no vieron la desnudez de su padre.
24 Cuando Noé despertó de su borrachera y se enteró de lo que su hijo menor había hecho, 25 declaró:
«¡Maldito sea Canaán!
Será de sus dos hermanos
el más bajo de sus esclavos».
26 Y agregó:
«¡Bendito sea el Señor, Dios de Sem!
¡Que Canaán sea su esclavo!
27 ¡Que Dios extienda el territorio de Jafet![b]
¡Que habite Jafet en los campamentos de Sem
y que Canaán sea su esclavo!».
28 Después del diluvio Noé vivió trescientos cincuenta años más, 29 de modo que murió a la edad de novecientos cincuenta años.
Las naciones de la tierra(A)(B)
10 Esta es la lista de los descendientes de Sem, Cam y Jafet, hijos de Noé, quienes después del diluvio tuvieron sus propios hijos.
2 Los hijos[c] de Jafet:
Gómer, Magog, Maday, Javán, Tubal, Mésec y Tirás.
3 Hijos de Gómer:
Asquenaz, Rifat y Togarma.
4 Hijos de Javán:
Elisá, Tarsis, Quitín y Rodanín.[d] 5 Algunos de ellos se esparcieron por las costas. Formaron naciones y clanes en sus respectivos territorios y con sus propios idiomas.
6 Hijos de Cam:
Cus, Misrayin, Fut y Canaán.
7 Hijos de Cus:
Seba, Javilá, Sabtá, Ragama y Sabteca.
Hijos de Ragama:
Sabá y Dedán.
8 Cus fue el padre de Nimrod, conocido como el primer gran guerrero en la tierra, 9 quien llegó a ser un valiente cazador ante el Señor. Por eso se dice: «Como Nimrod, valiente cazador ante el Señor». 10 Las principales ciudades de su reino fueron Babel, Érec, Acad y Calné, en la región de Sinar.[e] 11 Desde esa región Nimrod salió hacia Asiria, donde construyó[f] las ciudades de Nínive, Rejobot Ir,[g] Cala 12 y Resén, la gran ciudad que está entre Nínive y Cala.
13 Misrayin fue el antepasado de
los ludeos, los anameos, los leabitas, los naftuitas, 14 los patruseos, los caslujitas —de quienes descienden los filisteos— y los caftoritas.
15 Canaán fue el padre de
Sidón, su primogénito, y de Het, 16 y el antepasado de los jebuseos, los amorreos, los gergeseos, 17 los heveos, los araceos, los sineos, 18 los arvadeos, los zemareos y los jamatitas.
Luego, estos clanes cananeos se dispersaron, 19 y su territorio se extendió desde Sidón hasta Guerar y Gaza, y en dirección de Sodoma, Gomorra, Admá y Zeboyín, hasta Lasa.
20 Estos fueron los descendientes de Cam, según sus clanes e idiomas, territorios y naciones.
21 Sem, antepasado de todos los hijos de Éber y hermano mayor de[h] Jafet, también tuvo hijos.
22 Hijos de Sem:
Elam, Asur, Arfaxad, Lud y Aram.
23 Hijos de Aram:
Uz, Hul, Guéter y Mas.
24 Arfaxad fue el padre de Selaj.
Selaj fue el padre de Éber.
25 Éber tuvo dos hijos:
El primero se llamó Péleg[i] porque en su tiempo se dividió la tierra; su hermano se llamó Joctán.
26 Joctán fue el padre de
Almodad, Sélef, Jazar Mávet, Yeraj, 27 Hadorán, Uzal, Diclá, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sabá, 29 Ofir, Javilá y Jobab. Todos estos fueron hijos de Joctán.
30 Ellos vivieron en la región que va desde Mesá hasta Sefar, en la región montañosa oriental.
31 Estos fueron los hijos de Sem, según sus clanes y sus idiomas, sus territorios y naciones.
32 Estos son los clanes de los hijos de Noé, según sus genealogías y sus naciones. A partir de estos clanes, las naciones se extendieron sobre la tierra después del diluvio.
La torre de Babel
11 En ese entonces se hablaba un solo idioma en toda la tierra. 2 Al emigrar al oriente, la gente encontró una llanura en la región de Sinar[j] y allí se establecieron.
3 Un día se dijeron unos a otros: «Vamos a hacer ladrillos y a cocerlos al fuego». Fue así como usaron ladrillos en vez de piedras y asfalto en vez de mezcla. 4 Luego dijeron: «Construyamos una ciudad con una torre que llegue hasta el cielo. De ese modo, nos haremos famosos y evitaremos ser dispersados por toda la tierra».
5 Pero el Señor bajó para observar la ciudad y la torre que los hombres estaban construyendo. 6 Entonces el Señor dijo: «Todos forman un solo pueblo y hablan un solo idioma; esto es solo el comienzo de sus obras y todo lo que se propongan lo podrán lograr. 7 Será mejor que bajemos a confundir su idioma para que ya no se entiendan entre ellos mismos».
8 De esta manera el Señor los dispersó desde allí por toda la tierra; por lo tanto, dejaron de construir la ciudad. 9 Por eso a la ciudad se le llamó Babel,[k] porque fue allí donde el Señor confundió el lenguaje de todos los habitantes de la tierra y los dispersó por todo el mundo.
Descendientes de Sem(C)
10 Esta es la historia de Sem:
Dos años después del diluvio, cuando Sem tenía cien años, nació su hijo Arfaxad. 11 Después del nacimiento de Arfaxad, Sem vivió quinientos años más y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.
12 Cuando Arfaxad tenía treinta y cinco años, nació su hijo Selaj. 13 Después del nacimiento de Selaj, Arfaxad vivió cuatrocientos tres años más y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.
14 Cuando Selaj tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Éber. 15 Después del nacimiento de Éber, Selaj vivió cuatrocientos tres años más y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.
16 Cuando Éber tenía treinta y cuatro años, nació su hijo Péleg. 17 Después del nacimiento de Péleg, Éber vivió cuatrocientos treinta años más y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.
18 Cuando Péleg tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Reú. 19 Después del nacimiento de Reú, Péleg vivió doscientos nueve años más y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.
20 Cuando Reú tenía treinta y dos años, nació su hijo Serug. 21 Después del nacimiento de Serug, Reú vivió doscientos siete años más y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.
22 Cuando Serug tenía treinta años, nació su hijo Najor. 23 Después del nacimiento de Najor, Serug vivió doscientos años más y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.
24 Cuando Najor tenía veintinueve años, nació su hijo Téraj. 25 Después del nacimiento de Téraj, Najor vivió ciento diecinueve años más y tuvo otros hijos y otras hijas.
26 Después de haber vivido setenta años, Téraj tuvo a sus hijos Abram, Najor y Harán.
Descendientes de Téraj
27 Esta es la historia de Téraj, el padre de Abram, Najor y Harán.
Harán fue el padre de Lot 28 y murió en Ur de los caldeos, su tierra natal, cuando su padre Téraj aún vivía. 29 Abram se casó con Saray y Najor se casó con Milca, la hija de Harán, el cual tuvo otra hija llamada Iscá. 30 Pero Saray era estéril; no podía tener hijos.
31 Téraj salió de Ur de los caldeos rumbo a Canaán. Se fue con su hijo Abram, su nieto Lot, hijo de Harán, y su nuera Saray, la esposa de Abram. Sin embargo, al llegar a la ciudad de Jarán, se quedaron a vivir en aquel lugar 32 y allí mismo murió Téraj a los doscientos cinco años.

8 But God remembered(A) Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth,(B) and the waters receded. 2 Now the springs of the deep and the floodgates of the heavens(C) had been closed, and the rain(D) had stopped falling from the sky. 3 The water receded steadily from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days(E) the water had gone down, 4 and on the seventeenth day of the seventh month(F) the ark came to rest on the mountains(G) of Ararat.(H) 5 The waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible.
6 After forty days(I) Noah opened a window he had made in the ark 7 and sent out a raven,(J) and it kept flying back and forth until the water had dried up from the earth.(K) 8 Then he sent out a dove(L) to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. 9 But the dove could find nowhere to perch because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. 10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. 11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.(M) 12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him.
13 By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year,(N) the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month(O) the earth was completely dry.
15 Then God said to Noah, 16 “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives.(P) 17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”(Q)
18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives.(R) 19 All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another.
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord(S) and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean(T) birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings(U) on it. 21 The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma(V) and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground(W) because of humans, even though[a] every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood.(X) And never again will I destroy(Y) all living creatures,(Z) as I have done.
22 “As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,(AA)
cold and heat,
summer and winter,(AB)
day and night
will never cease.”(AC)
God’s Covenant With Noah
9 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.(AD) 2 The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.(AE) 3 Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.(AF) Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.(AG)
4 “But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.(AH) 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting.(AI) I will demand an accounting from every animal.(AJ) And from each human being, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of another human being.(AK)
6 “Whoever sheds human blood,
by humans shall their blood be shed;(AL)
for in the image of God(AM)
has God made mankind.
7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.”(AN)
8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 “I now establish my covenant with you(AO) and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant(AP) with you:(AQ) Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.(AR)”
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant(AS) I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:(AT) 13 I have set my rainbow(AU) in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow(AV) appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant(AW) between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.(AX) 16 Whenever the rainbow(AY) appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant(AZ) between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
17 So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant(BA) I have established between me and all life on the earth.”
The Sons of Noah
18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth.(BB) (Ham was the father of Canaan.)(BC) 19 These were the three sons of Noah,(BD) and from them came the people who were scattered over the whole earth.(BE)
20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded[b] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine,(BF) he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked(BG) and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.
24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,
26 He also said,
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Shem!(BK)
May Canaan be the slave(BL) of Shem.
27 May God extend Japheth’s[c] territory;(BM)
may Japheth live in the tents of Shem,(BN)
and may Canaan be the slave of Japheth.”
28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. 29 Noah lived a total of 950 years, and then he died.(BO)
The Table of Nations
10 This is the account(BP) of Shem, Ham and Japheth,(BQ) Noah’s sons,(BR) who themselves had sons after the flood.
The Japhethites(BS)
2 The sons[d] of Japheth:
Gomer,(BT) Magog,(BU) Madai, Javan,(BV) Tubal,(BW) Meshek(BX) and Tiras.
3 The sons of Gomer:
Ashkenaz,(BY) Riphath and Togarmah.(BZ)
4 The sons of Javan:
Elishah,(CA) Tarshish,(CB) the Kittites(CC) and the Rodanites.[e] 5 (From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.)(CD)
The Hamites(CE)
6 The sons of Ham:
Cush,(CF) Egypt, Put(CG) and Canaan.(CH)
7 The sons of Cush:
Seba,(CI) Havilah,(CJ) Sabtah, Raamah(CK) and Sabteka.
The sons of Raamah:
8 Cush was the father[f] of Nimrod,(CN) who became a mighty warrior on the earth. 9 He was a mighty(CO) hunter(CP) before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.” 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon,(CQ) Uruk,(CR) Akkad and Kalneh,(CS) in[g] Shinar.[h](CT) 11 From that land he went to Assyria,(CU) where he built Nineveh,(CV) Rehoboth Ir,[i] Calah 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah—which is the great city.
13 Egypt was the father of
the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, 14 Pathrusites, Kasluhites (from whom the Philistines(CW) came) and Caphtorites.(CX)
15 Canaan(CY) was the father of
Sidon(CZ) his firstborn,[j](DA) and of the Hittites,(DB) 16 Jebusites,(DC) Amorites,(DD) Girgashites,(DE) 17 Hivites,(DF) Arkites, Sinites, 18 Arvadites,(DG) Zemarites and Hamathites.(DH)
Later the Canaanite(DI) clans scattered 19 and the borders of Canaan(DJ) reached from Sidon(DK) toward Gerar(DL) as far as Gaza,(DM) and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim,(DN) as far as Lasha.
20 These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.
The Semites(DO)
21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was[k] Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.(DP)
22 The sons of Shem:
Elam,(DQ) Ashur,(DR) Arphaxad,(DS) Lud and Aram.(DT)
23 The sons of Aram:
Uz,(DU) Hul, Gether and Meshek.[l]
24 Arphaxad was the father of[m] Shelah,
and Shelah the father of Eber.(DV)
25 Two sons were born to Eber:
One was named Peleg,[n] because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan.
26 Joktan was the father of
Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal,(DW) Diklah, 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba,(DX) 29 Ophir,(DY) Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan.
30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country.
31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations.
32 These are the clans of Noah’s sons,(DZ) according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth(EA) after the flood.
The Tower of Babel
11 Now the whole world had one language(EB) and a common speech. 2 As people moved eastward,[o] they found a plain in Shinar[p](EC) and settled there.
3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks(ED) and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone,(EE) and tar(EF) for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens,(EG) so that we may make a name(EH) for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered(EI) over the face of the whole earth.”(EJ)
5 But the Lord came down(EK) to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language(EL) they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us(EM) go down(EN) and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”(EO)
8 So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth,(EP) and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel[q](EQ)—because there the Lord confused the language(ER) of the whole world.(ES) From there the Lord scattered(ET) them over the face of the whole earth.
From Shem to Abram(EU)
10 This is the account(EV) of Shem’s family line.
Two years after the flood, when Shem was 100 years old, he became the father[r] of Arphaxad.(EW) 11 And after he became the father of Arphaxad, Shem lived 500 years and had other sons and daughters.
12 When Arphaxad had lived 35 years, he became the father of Shelah.(EX) 13 And after he became the father of Shelah, Arphaxad lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.[s]
14 When Shelah had lived 30 years, he became the father of Eber.(EY) 15 And after he became the father of Eber, Shelah lived 403 years and had other sons and daughters.
16 When Eber had lived 34 years, he became the father of Peleg.(EZ) 17 And after he became the father of Peleg, Eber lived 430 years and had other sons and daughters.
18 When Peleg had lived 30 years, he became the father of Reu.(FA) 19 And after he became the father of Reu, Peleg lived 209 years and had other sons and daughters.
20 When Reu had lived 32 years, he became the father of Serug.(FB) 21 And after he became the father of Serug, Reu lived 207 years and had other sons and daughters.
22 When Serug had lived 30 years, he became the father of Nahor.(FC) 23 And after he became the father of Nahor, Serug lived 200 years and had other sons and daughters.
24 When Nahor had lived 29 years, he became the father of Terah.(FD) 25 And after he became the father of Terah, Nahor lived 119 years and had other sons and daughters.
26 After Terah had lived 70 years, he became the father of Abram,(FE) Nahor(FF) and Haran.(FG)
Abram’s Family
27 This is the account(FH) of Terah’s family line.
Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor(FI) and Haran. And Haran became the father of Lot.(FJ) 28 While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans,(FK) in the land of his birth. 29 Abram and Nahor(FL) both married. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai,(FM) and the name of Nahor’s wife was Milkah;(FN) she was the daughter of Haran, the father of both Milkah and Iskah. 30 Now Sarai was childless because she was not able to conceive.(FO)
31 Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot(FP) son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law(FQ) Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans(FR) to go to Canaan.(FS) But when they came to Harran,(FT) they settled there.
32 Terah(FU) lived 205 years, and he died in Harran.
