Nước Từ Vầng Ðá Tuôn Ra
(Dân 20:1-13)
17 Từ Ðồng Hoang Sin, toàn thể hội chúng I-sơ-ra-ên nhổ trại ra đi từng chặng, như Chúa đã truyền cho họ. Họ hạ trại ở Rê-phi-đim, nhưng nơi đó chẳng có nước cho dân uống. 2 Dân gây sự với Môi-se và nói, “Hãy cho chúng tôi nước uống.”
Môi-se nói với họ, “Tại sao anh chị em gây sự với tôi? Tại sao anh chị em muốn thử Chúa?”
3 Tuy nhiên tại đó dân chúng quá khát nước, nên họ oán trách Môi-se và nói, “Tại sao ông đem chúng tôi ra khỏi Ai-cập, để chúng tôi, các con nhỏ chúng tôi, và các đàn súc vật của chúng tôi chết khát?”
4 Môi-se kêu cầu với Chúa, “Con phải làm gì với dân nầy bây giờ? Thiếu điều họ muốn ném đá con.”
5 Chúa phán với Môi-se, “Hãy đi trước dân I-sơ-ra-ên và đem một vài trưởng lão I-sơ-ra-ên đi với ngươi. Hãy cầm theo cây gậy ngươi đã dùng để đập vào nước Sông Nin và hãy đi. 6 Nầy, Ta sẽ đứng tại đó, trước mặt ngươi, trên vầng đá ở Hô-rếp. Hãy đập vào vầng đá ấy, nước từ vầng đá ấy sẽ phun ra, để dân có nước uống.”
Môi-se làm y như vậy, trước mặt các trưởng lão của I-sơ-ra-ên. 7 Ông đặt tên nơi đó là Ma-sa[a] và Mê-ri-ba,[b] vì dân I-sơ-ra-ên đã gây sự và thử Chúa rằng, “Không biết Chúa có thật sự ở giữa chúng ta chăng?”
Dân A-ma-léc Tấn Công Dân I-sơ-ra-ên và Bị Bại
8 Lúc ấy quân A-ma-léc đến và tấn công I-sơ-ra-ên ở Rê-phi-đim. 9 Môi-se nói với Giô-suê, “Hãy chọn một số người trong chúng ta để ra đối phó với quân A-ma-léc. Ngày mai ta sẽ đứng trên đỉnh đồi với cây gậy của Ðức Chúa Trời trong tay.”
10 Vậy Giô-suê làm như lời Môi-se đã bảo ông. Ông xuống đánh quân A-ma-léc trong khi Môi-se, A-rôn, và Hu-rơ đi lên đỉnh đồi. 11 Hễ khi Môi-se đưa tay lên thì quân I-sơ-ra-ên thắng hơn, nhưng khi ông hạ tay xuống thì quân A-ma-léc thắng hơn. 12 Hai tay Môi-se mỏi, nên người ta dựng một hòn đá lên cho ông ngồi, rồi A-rôn và Hu-rơ đỡ hai tay ông lên, một người bên nầy, và một người bên kia. Vậy hai tay của ông cứ được đưa lên cho đến khi mặt trời lặn. 13 Giô-suê dùng gươm đánh bại A-ma-léc với dân ông ấy.
14 Bấy giờ Chúa phán với Môi-se, “Hãy chép điều nầy vào một cuốn sách để ghi nhớ, và đọc cho Giô-suê nghe rõ rằng: Ta sẽ xóa sạch kỷ niệm về A-ma-léc dưới trời.” 15 Môi-se cho xây một bàn thờ và đặt tên, “Chúa Là Biểu Kỳ của Tôi.”[c] 16 Ông nói, “Vì tay của A-ma-léc đã đưa lên chống lại ngai của Chúa, cho nên giữa Chúa và A-ma-léc sẽ có chiến tranh từ đời nầy sang đời khác.”[d]

17 (A)Toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel marchó por[a] jornadas desde el desierto de Sin(B), conforme al mandamiento[b] del Señor; y acamparon en Refidim, y no había agua para que el pueblo bebiera(C). 2 Entonces el pueblo contendió con Moisés(D), y dijeron: Danos agua para beber. Y Moisés les dijo: ¿Por qué contendéis conmigo? ¿Por qué tentáis al Señor(E)? 3 Pero el pueblo tuvo allí sed[c], y murmuró el pueblo contra Moisés(F), y dijo: ¿Por qué nos has hecho subir de Egipto para matarnos[d] de sed a nosotros, a nuestros[e] hijos y a nuestros[f] ganados(G)? 4 Y clamó Moisés al Señor, diciendo: ¿Qué haré con este pueblo? Un poco más y me apedrearán(H). 5 Y el Señor dijo a Moisés: Pasa delante del pueblo y toma contigo a algunos de los ancianos de Israel(I), y toma en tu mano la vara con la cual golpeaste el Nilo, y ve(J). 6 He aquí, yo estaré allí delante de ti sobre la peña en Horeb(K); y golpearás la peña, y saldrá agua de ella para que beba el pueblo(L). Y así lo hizo Moisés en presencia de los ancianos de Israel. 7 Y puso a aquel lugar el nombre de Masah[g](M) y Meriba[h](N), por la contienda de los hijos de Israel, y porque tentaron al Señor(O), diciendo: ¿Está el Señor entre nosotros o no?
Guerra con Amalec
8 Entonces vino Amalec(P) y peleó contra Israel en Refidim(Q). 9 Y Moisés dijo a Josué(R): Escógenos hombres, y sal a pelear contra Amalec. Mañana yo estaré sobre la cumbre del collado con la vara de Dios en mi mano(S). 10 Y Josué hizo como Moisés le dijo, y peleó[i] contra Amalec; y Moisés, Aarón y Hur(T) subieron a la cumbre del collado. 11 Y sucedió que mientras Moisés tenía en alto su mano, Israel prevalecía; y cuando dejaba caer[j] la mano, prevalecía Amalec. 12 Pero las manos de Moisés se le cansaban[k]. Entonces tomaron una piedra y la pusieron debajo de él, y se sentó en ella; y Aarón y Hur le sostenían las manos(U), uno de un lado y otro del otro. Así estuvieron sus manos firmes hasta que se puso el sol. 13 Y Josué deshizo[l] a Amalec y a su pueblo a filo de espada.
14 Entonces dijo el Señor a Moisés: Escribe esto en un[m] libro(V) para que sirva de memorial, y haz saber a[n] Josué que yo borraré por completo la memoria de Amalec de debajo del cielo(W). 15 Y edificó Moisés un altar(X), y le puso por nombre El Señor es mi Estandarte(Y), 16 y dijo: El Señor lo ha jurado[o](Z); el Señor hará guerra contra Amalec de generación en generación.

17 Toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel partió del desierto de Sin por sus jornadas, conforme al mandamiento de Jehová, y acamparon en Refidim; y no había agua para que el pueblo bebiese. 2 Y altercó el pueblo con Moisés, y dijeron: Danos agua para que bebamos. Y Moisés les dijo: ¿Por qué altercáis conmigo? ¿Por qué tentáis a Jehová? 3 Así que el pueblo tuvo allí sed, y murmuró contra Moisés, y dijo: ¿Por qué nos hiciste subir de Egipto para matarnos de sed a nosotros, a nuestros hijos y a nuestros ganados? 4 Entonces clamó Moisés a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Qué haré con este pueblo? De aquí a un poco me apedrearán. 5 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Pasa delante del pueblo, y toma contigo de los ancianos de Israel; y toma también en tu mano tu vara con que golpeaste el río, y ve. 6 He aquí que yo estaré delante de ti allí sobre la peña en Horeb; y golpearás la peña, y saldrán de ella aguas, y beberá el pueblo. Y Moisés lo hizo así en presencia de los ancianos de Israel. 7 Y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Masah[a] y Meriba,[b] por la rencilla de los hijos de Israel, y porque tentaron a Jehová, diciendo: ¿Está, pues, Jehová entre nosotros, o no?(A)
Guerra con Amalec
8 Entonces vino Amalec y peleó contra Israel en Refidim. 9 Y dijo Moisés a Josué: Escógenos varones, y sal a pelear contra Amalec; mañana yo estaré sobre la cumbre del collado, y la vara de Dios en mi mano. 10 E hizo Josué como le dijo Moisés, peleando contra Amalec; y Moisés y Aarón y Hur subieron a la cumbre del collado. 11 Y sucedía que cuando alzaba Moisés su mano, Israel prevalecía; mas cuando él bajaba su mano, prevalecía Amalec. 12 Y las manos de Moisés se cansaban; por lo que tomaron una piedra, y la pusieron debajo de él, y se sentó sobre ella; y Aarón y Hur sostenían sus manos, el uno de un lado y el otro de otro; así hubo en sus manos firmeza hasta que se puso el sol. 13 Y Josué deshizo a Amalec y a su pueblo a filo de espada.
14 Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Escribe esto para memoria en un libro, y di a Josué que raeré del todo la memoria de Amalec de debajo del cielo.(B) 15 Y Moisés edificó un altar, y llamó su nombre Jehová-nisi;[c] 16 y dijo: Por cuanto la mano de Amalec se levantó contra el trono de Jehová, Jehová tendrá guerra con Amalec de generación en generación.

Water From the Rock
17 The whole Israelite community set out from the Desert of Sin,(A) traveling from place to place as the Lord commanded. They camped at Rephidim,(B) but there was no water(C) for the people to drink. 2 So they quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water(D) to drink.”(E)
Moses replied, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you put the Lord to the test?”(F)
3 But the people were thirsty(G) for water there, and they grumbled(H) against Moses. They said, “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to make us and our children and livestock die(I) of thirst?”
4 Then Moses cried out to the Lord, “What am I to do with these people? They are almost ready to stone(J) me.”
5 The Lord answered Moses, “Go out in front of the people. Take with you some of the elders of Israel and take in your hand the staff(K) with which you struck the Nile,(L) and go. 6 I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb.(M) Strike(N) the rock, and water(O) will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7 And he called the place Massah[a](P) and Meribah[b](Q) because the Israelites quarreled and because they tested the Lord saying, “Is the Lord among us or not?”
The Amalekites Defeated
8 The Amalekites(R) came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.(S) 9 Moses said to Joshua,(T) “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff(U) of God in my hands.”
10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur(V) went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning,(W) but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.(X) 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite(Y) army with the sword.
14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write(Z) this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out(AA) the name of Amalek(AB) from under heaven.”
15 Moses built an altar(AC) and called(AD) it The Lord is my Banner. 16 He said, “Because hands were lifted up against[c] the throne of the Lord,[d] the Lord will be at war against the Amalekites(AE) from generation to generation.”(AF)
