Bài Ca của Môi-se
15 Bấy giờ Môi-se và dân I-sơ-ra-ên hát bài ca nầy dâng lên Chúa:
“Tôi ca ngợi Chúa, vì Ngài đã chiến thắng vẻ vang;[a]
Chiến mã và kỵ binh đều bị Ngài quăng xuống biển.
2 Chúa là sức mạnh và bài ca của tôi;
Ngài là Ðấng Giải Cứu của tôi;
Ngài là Ðức Chúa Trời của tôi, tôi ca ngợi Ngài;
Ngài là Ðức Chúa Trời của tổ tiên tôi, tôi tôn ngợi Ngài.
3 Chúa là một Chiến Sĩ;
Danh Ngài là Chúa.
4 Ngài quăng xuống biển các xe chiến mã của Pha-ra-ôn và quân đội của vua ấy;
các sĩ quan tinh nhuệ của vua ấy đã chìm sâu trong Hồng Hải.[b]
5 Nước phủ ngập chúng;
Chúng như một cục đá chìm xuống biển sâu.
6 Lạy Chúa, tay phải Ngài bày tỏ quyền năng vinh hiển;
Lạy Chúa, tay phải Ngài đánh quân giặc tan tành.
7 Với đại quyền oai hùng, Ngài đánh đổ những kẻ chống nghịch Ngài;
Ngài nổi cơn thịnh nộ, chúng bị thiêu rụi như rơm.
8 Hơi từ lỗ mũi Ngài thở ra, nước đại dương liền dồn lại;
Nước biển dựng đứng như một bức tường;
Nước ở giữa lòng biển sâu khựng lại.
9 Quân thù bảo nhau,
‘Ta sẽ truy đuổi, ta sẽ đuổi kịp chúng,
Ta sẽ chia nhau chiến lợi phẩm,
Ta sẽ tha hồ cướp lấy của cải chúng;
Ta sẽ vung gươm lên và thẳng tay tiêu diệt chúng.’
10 Nhưng Ngài thổi hơi nổi gió, biển liền phủ lấp chúng.
Chúng chìm lỉm như chì, chìm vào đáy nước sâu.
11 Lạy Chúa, trong vòng các thần, ai giống như Ngài?
Ai có thể sánh được với Ngài,
Ðấng uy nghi thánh khiết,
Ðấng vinh hiển đáng kinh,
Ðấng làm việc diệu kỳ?
12 Ngài đưa cánh tay phải ra,
Ðất liền nuốt trọn chúng.
13 Với tình thương chẳng phai tàn, Ngài dìu dắt dân Ngài cứu chuộc;
Bằng sức mạnh vạn năng, Ngài dẫn họ vào nơi ngự thánh của Ngài.
14 Các dân nghe tin ấy bèn run lên lẩy bẩy;
Nỗi đau đớn quằn quại bắt lấy dân Phi-li-tin.
15 Các thủ lãnh của Ê-đôm kinh hãi;
Các lãnh tụ của Mô-áp run sợ,
Các dân trong xứ Ca-na-an khiếp đảm rụng rời.
16 Kinh hoàng và sợ hãi giáng trên chúng;
Khi cánh tay quyền năng của Ngài tỏ ra, chúng đứng chết trân như đá;
Lạy Chúa, cho đến khi dân Ngài vượt qua,
Cho đến khi dân Ngài mua chuộc đã vượt qua.
17 Ngài đem họ vào và trồng trên núi do Ngài làm chủ;
Lạy Chúa, đó là nơi Ngài chọn làm chỗ ở của Ngài,
Lạy Chúa, tức là Nơi Thánh tay Ngài đã lập.
18 Chúa sẽ trị vì đời đời vô cùng.”
19 Thật vậy, các ngựa, các xe chiến mã, và các kỵ binh của Pha-ra-ôn đã bị chìm sâu trong lòng biển, vì Chúa đã khiến nước ập lại phủ lấp họ, còn dân I-sơ-ra-ên đã đi trên đất khô mà vượt qua lòng biển.
Bài Ca của Mi-ri-am
20 Bấy giờ Nữ Tiên Tri Mi-ri-am chị của A-rôn cầm một trống lục lạc, và các phụ nữ cũng cầm trống lục lạc đi theo bà; họ vừa khua trống vừa nhảy múa. 21 Mi-ri-am cất tiếng hát rằng,
“Hãy ca ngợi Chúa, vì Ngài đã chiến thắng vẻ vang;[c]
Chiến mã và kỵ binh đều bị Ngài quăng xuống biển.”

22 Bấy giờ Môi-se truyền cho dân I-sơ-ra-ên nhổ trại rời Hồng Hải[d] ra đi. Họ đi vào Đồng Hoang Su-rơ. Họ đi trong đồng hoang ba ngày và chẳng nơi nào có nước. 23 Khi họ đến Ma-ra, họ không thể uống nước ở Ma-ra được, vì nước ở nơi đó đắng. Vì thế nơi đó có tên là Ma-ra.[e] 24 Dân oán trách Môi-se rằng, “Chúng tôi lấy gì uống đây?” 25 Ông kêu cầu Chúa; Chúa chỉ cho ông một khúc cây. Ông quăng khúc cây ấy xuống nước, nước liền biến thành ngọt.
Tại đó Ngài lập cho họ một quy luật và một mệnh lệnh, và cũng tại đó Ngài muốn thử lòng họ. 26 Ngài phán, “Nếu ngươi cẩn thận nghe theo tiếng Chúa, Ðức Chúa Trời của ngươi, và làm theo lẽ phải trước mắt Ngài; nếu ngươi vâng theo các điều răn Ngài và giữ các mạng lịnh Ngài, thì Ta sẽ không giáng bịnh tật nào trên ngươi, như Ta đã giáng trên người Ai-cập, vì Ta là Chúa, Ðấng chữa lành[f] ngươi.”
27 Rồi từ đó họ đến Ê-lim là nơi có mười hai suối nước và bảy mươi cây chà là. Dân chúng hạ trại tại đó, bên cạnh các suối nước.

The Song of Moses
15 Then Moses and the people of Israel (A)sang this song to the Lord, saying,
(B)“I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;
the horse and his rider[a] he has thrown into the sea.
2 (C)The Lord is my strength and my (D)song,
and he has become (E)my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
(F)my father's God, and (G)I will exalt him.
3 The Lord is (H)a man of war;
(I)the Lord is his name.
4 (J)“Pharaoh's chariots and his host he cast into the sea,
and his chosen (K)officers were sunk in the Red Sea.
5 The (L)floods covered them;
they (M)went down into the depths like a stone.
6 (N)Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power,
your right hand, O Lord, (O)shatters the enemy.
7 In the (P)greatness of your majesty you overthrow your adversaries;
you send out your fury; it (Q)consumes them like stubble.
8 At the (R)blast of your nostrils the waters piled up;
the (S)floods stood up in a heap;
the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 The enemy said, (T)‘I will pursue, I will overtake,
I (U)will divide the spoil, my desire shall have its fill of them.
I will draw my sword; my hand shall destroy them.’
10 You (V)blew with your wind; the (W)sea covered them;
they sank like lead in the mighty waters.
11 (X)“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like you, majestic in holiness,
awesome in (Y)glorious deeds, (Z)doing wonders?
12 You stretched out (AA)your right hand;
the earth swallowed them.
13 “You have (AB)led in your steadfast love the people whom (AC)you have redeemed;
you have (AD)guided them by your strength to your holy abode.
14 (AE)The peoples have heard; they tremble;
pangs have seized the inhabitants of Philistia.
15 Now are the chiefs of Edom (AF)dismayed;
trembling seizes the leaders of (AG)Moab;
(AH)all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.
16 Terror and (AI)dread fall upon them;
because of the greatness of your arm, they are still (AJ)as a stone,
till your people, O Lord, pass by,
till the people pass by whom (AK)you have purchased.
17 You will bring them in and (AL)plant them on your own mountain,
the place, O Lord, which you have made for your abode,
(AM)the sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have established.
18 (AN)The Lord will reign forever and ever.”
19 For when (AO)the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, (AP)the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the people of Israel walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea. 20 Then (AQ)Miriam (AR)the prophetess, the (AS)sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and (AT)all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing. 21 And Miriam sang to them:
(AU)“Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;
the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.”
Bitter Water Made Sweet
22 Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of (AV)Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 When they came to (AW)Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah.[b] 24 And the people (AX)grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25 And he (AY)cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log,[c] and he (AZ)threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.
There the Lord[d] made for them a statute and a rule, and there he (BA)tested them, 26 saying, (BB)“If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the (BC)diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, (BD)your healer.”
27 Then (BE)they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees, and they encamped there by the water.

15 Then (B)Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying:
“I will (C)sing to the Lord,
For He has triumphed gloriously!
The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea!
2 The Lord is my strength and (D)song,
And He has become my salvation;
He is my God, and (E)I will praise Him;
My (F)father’s God, and I (G)will exalt Him.
3 The Lord is a man of (H)war;
The Lord is His (I)name.
4 (J)Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea;
(K)His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea.
5 The depths have covered them;
(L)They sank to the bottom like a stone.
6 “Your (M)right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power;
Your right hand, O Lord, has dashed the enemy in pieces.
7 And in the greatness of Your (N)excellence
You have overthrown those who rose against You;
You sent forth (O)Your wrath;
It (P)consumed them (Q)like stubble.
8 And (R)with the blast of Your nostrils
The waters were gathered together;
(S)The floods stood upright like a heap;
The depths [a]congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 (T)The enemy said, ‘I will pursue,
I will overtake,

My desire shall be satisfied on them.
I will draw my sword,
My hand shall destroy them.’
10 You blew with Your wind,
The sea covered them;
They sank like lead in the mighty waters.
11 “Who(V) is like You, O Lord, among the [b]gods?
Who is like You, (W)glorious in holiness,
Fearful in (X)praises, (Y)doing wonders?
12 You stretched out Your right hand;
The earth swallowed them.
13 You in Your mercy have (Z)led forth
The people whom You have redeemed;
You have guided them in Your strength
To (AA)Your holy habitation.
14 “The (AB)people will hear and be afraid;
(AC)Sorrow[c] will take hold of the inhabitants of Philistia.
15 (AD)Then (AE)the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed;
(AF)The mighty men of Moab,
Trembling will take hold of them;
(AG)All the inhabitants of Canaan will (AH)melt away.
16 (AI)Fear and dread will fall on them;
By the greatness of Your arm
They will be (AJ)as still as a stone,
Till Your people pass over, O Lord,
Till the people pass over
(AK)Whom You have purchased.
17 You will bring them in and (AL)plant them
In the (AM)mountain of Your inheritance,
In the place, O Lord, which You have made
For Your own dwelling,
The (AN)sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.
18 “The(AO) Lord shall reign forever and ever.”
19 For the (AP)horses of Pharaoh went with his chariots and his horsemen into the sea, and (AQ)the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them. But the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
The Song of Miriam(AR)
20 Then Miriam (AS)the prophetess, (AT)the sister of Aaron, (AU)took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her (AV)with timbrels and with dances. 21 And Miriam (AW)answered them:
(AX)“Sing to the Lord,
For He has triumphed gloriously!
The horse and its rider
He has thrown into the sea!”
Bitter Waters Made Sweet
22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea; then they went out into the Wilderness of (AY)Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no (AZ)water. 23 Now when they came to (BA)Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called [d]Marah. 24 And the people (BB)complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” 25 So he cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree. (BC)When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet.
There He (BD)made a statute and an [e]ordinance for them, and there (BE)He tested them, 26 and said, (BF)“If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the (BG)diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord (BH)who heals you.”
27 (BI)Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees; so they camped there by the waters.

for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver(C)
he has hurled into the sea.(D)
2 “The Lord is my strength(E) and my defense[a];
he has become my salvation.(F)
He is my God,(G) and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt(H) him.
3 The Lord is a warrior;(I)
the Lord is his name.(J)
4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his army(K)
he has hurled into the sea.
The best of Pharaoh’s officers
are drowned in the Red Sea.[b]
5 The deep waters(L) have covered them;
they sank to the depths like a stone.(M)
6 Your right hand,(N) Lord,
was majestic in power.
Your right hand,(O) Lord,
shattered(P) the enemy.
7 “In the greatness of your majesty(Q)
you threw down those who opposed you.
You unleashed your burning anger;(R)
it consumed(S) them like stubble.
8 By the blast of your nostrils(T)

The surging waters stood up like a wall;(V)
the deep waters congealed in the heart of the sea.(W)
9 The enemy boasted,
‘I will pursue,(X) I will overtake them.
I will divide the spoils;(Y)
I will gorge myself on them.
I will draw my sword
and my hand will destroy them.’
10 But you blew with your breath,(Z)
and the sea covered them.
They sank like lead
in the mighty waters.(AA)
11 Who among the gods
is like you,(AB) Lord?
Who is like you—
majestic in holiness,(AC)
awesome in glory,(AD)
working wonders?(AE)
12 “You stretch out(AF) your right hand,
and the earth swallows your enemies.(AG)
13 In your unfailing love you will lead(AH)
the people you have redeemed.(AI)
In your strength you will guide them
to your holy dwelling.(AJ)
14 The nations will hear and tremble;(AK)
anguish(AL) will grip the people of Philistia.(AM)
15 The chiefs(AN) of Edom(AO) will be terrified,
the leaders of Moab will be seized with trembling,(AP)
the people[c] of Canaan will melt(AQ) away;
16 terror(AR) and dread will fall on them.
By the power of your arm
they will be as still as a stone(AS)—
until your people pass by, Lord,
until the people you bought[d](AT) pass by.(AU)
17 You will bring(AV) them in and plant(AW) them
on the mountain(AX) of your inheritance—
the place, Lord, you made for your dwelling,(AY)
the sanctuary,(AZ) Lord, your hands established.
18 “The Lord reigns
for ever and ever.”(BA)
19 When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen[e] went into the sea,(BB) the Lord brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.(BC) 20 Then Miriam(BD) the prophet,(BE) Aaron’s sister, took a timbrel in her hand, and all the women followed her, with timbrels(BF) and dancing.(BG) 21 Miriam sang(BH) to them:
“Sing to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver(BI)
he has hurled into the sea.”(BJ)
The Waters of Marah and Elim
22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert(BK) of Shur.(BL) For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water.(BM) 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.[f](BN)) 24 So the people grumbled(BO) against Moses, saying, “What are we to drink?”(BP)
25 Then Moses cried out(BQ) to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a piece of wood. He threw(BR) it into the water, and the water became fit to drink.
There the Lord issued a ruling and instruction for them and put them to the test.(BS) 26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep(BT) all his decrees,(BU) I will not bring on you any of the diseases(BV) I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals(BW) you.”
27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped(BX) there near the water.
