Psalmen 5
Het Boek
5 Een psalm van David voor de koordirigent. Te begeleiden met fluitspel.
2 O Here, wilt U mijn gebed aanhoren?
Luister toch naar mijn smeken.
3 God, U bent mijn Koning
en ik richt mij tot U.
4 Elke morgen kijk ik omhoog naar U
en wacht op uw antwoord,
en U hoort mij roepen.
5 Ik weet dat slechtheid
bij U geen standhoudt
en dat geen enkele goddeloze
op uw bescherming kan rekenen.
6 Hoogmoedige zondaars
kunnen uw onderzoekende blik niet doorstaan,
omdat U hun slechte daden haat.
7 Om hun leugens zult U hen vernietigen,
U verafschuwt moord en bedrog, Here.
uw tempel binnengaan.
Met diep ontzag zal ik U eren.
9 Here, wilt U mij leiden?
Anders zullen mijn vijanden over mij zegevieren.
10 Mijn tegenstanders zullen elke kans aangrijpen
Hun lippen spuwen dodelijk vergif.
want zij komen in opstand tegen U.
omdat U hen beschermt.
Dan zal ieder die U liefheeft,
overlopen van blijdschap.
13 Want U, Here, zegent uw volgelingen.

Lead Me in Your Righteousness
For the choir director. For [a]the flutes. A Psalm of David.
5 (A)Give ear to my words, O Yahweh,
Consider my (B)meditation.
2 Give heed to (C)the sound of my cry for help, (D)my King and my God,
For to You I pray.
3 O Yahweh, in the morning, [b]You will hear my voice;
In the (E)morning I will order my [c]prayer to You and eagerly (F)watch.
4 For You are not a God (G)who delights in wickedness;
(H)Evil does not sojourn with You.
5 The (I)boastful shall not (J)stand before Your eyes;
You (K)hate all workers of iniquity.
6 You (L)destroy those who speak falsehood;
Yahweh abhors (M)the man of bloodshed and deceit.
7 But as for me, (N)in the abundance of Your lovingkindness I will enter Your house,
[d]At Your holy temple I will (O)worship in (P)fear of You.
8 O Yahweh, (Q)lead me (R)in Your righteousness (S)because of [e]my foes;
Make Your way [f]straight before me.
9 There is (T)nothing [g]reliable in their mouth;
Their (U)inward part is destruction itself.
Their (V)throat is an open grave;
They [h]flatter with their tongue.
10 Hold them guilty, O God;
(W)By their own devices let them fall!
In the abundance of their transgressions (X)thrust them out,
For they are (Y)rebellious against You.
11 But let all who (Z)take refuge in You (AA)be glad,
Let them ever sing for joy;
And [i]may You (AB)shelter them,
That those who (AC)love Your name may exult in You.
12 For it is You who (AD)blesses the righteous one, O Yahweh,
You (AE)surround him with favor as with a large shield.

Psalm 5
King James Version
5 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.
3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.
4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.
5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.
7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
9 For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.
11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
