Psalm 61-63
New American Standard Bible 1995
Confidence in God’s Protection.
For the choir director; on a stringed instrument. A Psalm of David.
61 (A)Hear my cry, O God;
(B)Give heed to my prayer.
2 From the (C)end of the earth I call to You when my heart is (D)faint;
Lead me to (E)the rock that is higher than I.
3 For You have been a (F)refuge for me,
A (G)tower of strength [a]against the enemy.
4 Let me [b](H)dwell in Your tent forever;
Let me (I)take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. [c]Selah.
5 For You have heard my (J)vows, O God;
You have given me the inheritance of those who (K)fear Your name.
6 You will [d](L)prolong the king’s [e]life;
His years will be as many generations.
7 He will [f]abide (M)before God forever;
Appoint (N)lovingkindness and truth that they may preserve him.
8 So I will (O)sing praise to Your name forever,
That I may (P)pay my vows day by day.
God Alone a Refuge from Treachery and Oppression.
For the choir director; [g]according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
62 (Q)My soul waits in silence for God only;
From Him (R)is my salvation.
2 He only is my (S)rock and my salvation,
My (T)stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
3 How long will you assail a man,
That you may murder him, all of you,
Like a (U)leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
4 They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position;
They (V)delight in falsehood;
They (W)bless with [h]their mouth,
But inwardly they curse. [i]Selah.
5 My soul, (X)wait in silence for God only,
For my hope is from Him.
6 He only is (Y)my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
7 On God my (Z)salvation and my glory rest;
The rock of my strength, my (AA)refuge is in God.
8 (AB)Trust in Him at all times, O people;
(AC)Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah.
9 Men of (AD)low degree are only (AE)vanity and men of rank are a (AF)lie;
In the (AG)balances they go up;
They are together lighter than breath.
10 (AH)Do not trust in oppression
And do not [j]vainly hope in (AI)robbery;
If riches increase, (AJ)do not set your heart upon them.
11 [k]Once God has (AK)spoken;
[l]Twice I have heard this:
That (AL)power belongs to God;
12 And lovingkindness (AM)is Yours, O Lord,
For You (AN)recompense a man according to his work.
The Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God.
A Psalm of David, [m]when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63 O God, (AO)You are my God; I shall seek You [n]earnestly;
My soul (AP)thirsts for You, my flesh [o]yearns for You,
In a (AQ)dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 Thus I have (AR)seen You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
3 Because Your (AS)lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
4 So I will bless You (AT)as long as I live;
I will (AU)lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul is (AV)satisfied as with [p]marrow and fatness,
And my mouth offers (AW)praises with joyful lips.
6 When I remember You (AX)on my bed,
I meditate on You in the (AY)night watches,
7 For (AZ)You have been my help,
And in the (BA)shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
8 My soul (BB)clings [q]to You;
Your (BC)right hand upholds me.
9 But those who (BD)seek my [r]life to destroy it,
Will go into the [s](BE)depths of the earth.
10 [t]They will be [u](BF)delivered over to the power of the sword;
They will be a [v](BG)prey for foxes.
11 But the (BH)king will rejoice in God;
Everyone who (BI)swears by Him will glory,
For the (BJ)mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.
