Praise for God’s Protection
For the choir director: “Do Not Destroy.” A Miktam of David. When he fled before Saul into the cave.(A)
1 Be gracious to me, God, be gracious to me,
for I take refuge in you.
I will seek refuge in the shadow of your wings
until danger passes.(B)
2 I call to God Most High,
to God who fulfills his purpose for me.[a](C)
3 He reaches down from heaven and saves me,
challenging the one who tramples me.(D)Selah
God sends his faithful love and truth.(E)
4 I am surrounded by lions;
I lie down among devouring lions—
people whose teeth are spears and arrows,
whose tongues are sharp swords.(F)
5 God, be exalted above the heavens;
let your glory be over the whole earth.(G)
6 They prepared a net for my steps;
I was despondent.
They dug a pit ahead of me,
but they fell into it!(H)Selah
7 My heart is confident, God, my heart is confident.
I will sing; I will sing praises.(I)
8 Wake up, my soul!
Wake up, harp and lyre!
I will wake up the dawn.(J)
9 I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.(K)
10 For your faithful love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches the clouds.(L)
11 God, be exalted above the heavens;(M)
let your glory be over the whole earth.(N)

Praise and Assurance under Persecution
To the leader: Do Not Destroy. Of David. A Miktam, when he fled from Saul, in the cave.
1 Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
for in you my soul takes refuge;
in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge,
until the destroying storms pass by.
2 I cry to God Most High,
to God who fulfils his purpose for me.
3 He will send from heaven and save me,
he will put to shame those who trample on me.Selah
God will send forth his steadfast love and his faithfulness.
4 I lie down among lions
that greedily devour[a] human prey;
their teeth are spears and arrows,
their tongues sharp swords.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.
Let your glory be over all the earth.
6 They set a net for my steps;
my soul was bowed down.
They dug a pit in my path,
but they have fallen into it themselves.Selah
7 My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast.
I will sing and make melody.
8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn.
9 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10 For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness extends to the clouds.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.
Let your glory be over all the earth.

57 Maawa ka sa akin, O Diyos, sa akin ay maawa ka,
sapagkat nanganganlong sa iyo ang aking kaluluwa,
sa lilim ng iyong mga pakpak ay manganganlong ako,
hanggang sa makaraan ang mga pagkawasak na ito.
2 Sa Diyos na Kataas-taasan ako'y dumaraing,
sa Diyos na nagsasagawa ng lahat na mga bagay sa akin.
3 Siya'y magsusugo mula sa langit at ako'y ililigtas
ilalagay niya sa kahihiyan ang sa akin ay yumuyurak, (Selah)
Susuguin ng Diyos ang kanyang pag-ibig na tapat at ang kanyang katapatan!
4 Ang aking kaluluwa ay nasa gitna ng mga leon,
ako'y nahihiga sa gitna ng mga taong bumubuga ng apoy,
sa mga anak ng tao na ang mga ngipin ay sibat at mga pana,
at matalas na mga tabak ang kanilang dila.
5 Mabunyi ka, O Diyos, sa itaas ng mga langit, ikaw naging dakila!
Ang iyong kaluwalhatian nawa'y mapasa buong lupa!
6 Naglagay sila ng silo para sa aking mga hakbang;
ang aking kaluluwa ay nakayuko.
Sila'y gumawa ng isang hukay sa aking daan,
ngunit sila mismo ang doon ay nabuwal. (Selah)
7 Ang aking puso ay tapat, O Diyos,
ang aking puso ay tapat!
Ako'y aawit, oo, ako'y aawit ng mga papuri!
8 Gumising ka, aking kaluwalhatian!
Gumising ka, O lira at alpa!
Gigisingin ko ang bukang-liwayway!
9 Ako'y magpapasalamat sa iyo, O Panginoon, sa gitna ng mga bayan.
Ako'y aawit sa iyo ng mga papuri sa gitna ng mga bansa.
10 Sapagkat ang iyong tapat na pag-ibig ay dakila hanggang sa mga langit,
ang iyong katapatan hanggang sa mga ulap.
11 O Diyos, sa itaas ng kalangitan, ikaw ay maging dakila!
Ang iyong kaluwalhatian nawa'y mapasa buong lupa!
