How Shall We Sing the Lord's Song?
137 By the waters of Babylon,
there we sat down and wept,
when we remembered Zion.
2 On the willows[a] there
we hung up our lyres.
3 For there our captors
required of us songs,
and our tormentors, mirth, saying,
“Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”
4 (A)How shall we sing the Lord's song
in a foreign land?
5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
(B)let my right hand forget its skill!
6 Let my (C)tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not remember you,
if I do not set Jerusalem
above my highest joy!
7 Remember, O Lord, against the (D)Edomites
(E)the day of Jerusalem,
how they said, (F)“Lay it bare, lay it bare,
down to its foundations!”
8 O daughter of Babylon, (G)doomed to be destroyed,
blessed shall he be who (H)repays you
with what you have done to us!
9 Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones
and (I)dashes them against the rock!

“Sing for us one of the songs of Zion!”
4 How can we sing (G)the Lord’s song
In a foreign land?
5 If I (H)forget you, Jerusalem,
May my right hand [e]forget its skill.
6 May my (I)tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
If I do not remember you,
If I do not [f](J)exalt Jerusalem
Above my chief joy.
7 Remember, Lord, against the sons of (K)Edom
The day of Jerusalem,
Those who said, “Lay it bare, lay it bare
(L)To its foundation!”
8 Daughter of Babylon, you [g](M)devastated one,
Blessed will be one who (N)repays you
With [h]the retribution with which you have repaid us.
9 Blessed will be one who seizes and (O)dashes your children
Against the rock.

2 Sa mga punong sauce sa gitna niyaon ating ibinitin ang ating mga alpa.
3 Sapagka't doo'y silang nagsibihag sa atin ay nagsihiling sa atin ng mga awit, at silang magpapahamak sa atin ay nagsihiling sa atin ng kasayahan, na nangagsasabi: Awitin ninyo sa amin ang sa mga awit ng Sion.
4 Paanong aawitin namin ang awit sa Panginoon sa ibang lupain?
5 Kung kalimutan kita, Oh Jerusalem, kalimutan nawa ng aking kanan ang kaniyang kasanayan.
6 Dumikit nawa ang aking dila sa ngalangala ng aking bibig, kung hindi kita alalahanin; kung hindi ko piliin ang Jerusalem ng higit sa aking pinakapangulong kagalakan.
7 Alalahanin mo Oh Panginoon, laban sa mga anak ni Edom ang kaarawan ng Jerusalem; na nagsabi, Sirain, sirain, pati ng patibayan niyaon.
8 Oh anak na babae ng Babilonia, na sira; magiging mapalad siya, na gumaganti sa iyo na gaya ng iyong ginawa sa amin.

our tormentors demanded(G) songs of joy;
they said, “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”(H)
4 How can we sing the songs of the Lord(I)
while in a foreign land?
5 If I forget you,(J) Jerusalem,
may my right hand forget its skill.
6 May my tongue cling to the roof(K) of my mouth
if I do not remember(L) you,
if I do not consider Jerusalem(M)
my highest joy.
7 Remember, Lord, what the Edomites(N) did
on the day Jerusalem fell.(O)
“Tear it down,” they cried,
“tear it down to its foundations!”(P)

happy is the one who repays you
according to what you have done to us.
9 Happy is the one who seizes your infants
and dashes them(R) against the rocks.
