Your Name, O Lord, Endures Forever

135 (A)Praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord,
    give praise, O (B)servants of the Lord,
who (C)stand in the house of the Lord,
    in (D)the courts of the house of our God!
Praise the Lord, for (E)the Lord is good;
    sing to his name, (F)for it is pleasant![a]
For the Lord has (G)chosen Jacob for himself,
    Israel as his (H)own possession.

For I know that (I)the Lord is great,
    and that our Lord is above all gods.
(J)Whatever the Lord pleases, he does,
    in heaven and on earth,
    in the seas and all deeps.
(K)He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth,
    who (L)makes lightnings for the rain
    and brings forth the wind from his (M)storehouses.

Give Thanks to the Lord

Of David.

138 (A)I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;
    before (B)the gods I sing your praise;
I bow down (C)toward your (D)holy temple
    and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness,
    for you have exalted above all things
    your name and your word.[a]
On the day I called, you answered me;
    my strength of soul you increased.[b]

(E)All the kings of the earth shall give you thanks, O Lord,
    for they have heard the words of your mouth,
and they shall sing of (F)the ways of the Lord,
    for great is the glory of the Lord.
(G)For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly,
    but the haughty he knows from afar.

(H)Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
    you (I)preserve my life;
you (J)stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
    and your (K)right hand delivers me.

  2. Psalm 138:3 Hebrew you made me bold in my soul with strength

21 Then Moses (A)stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by (B)a strong east wind all night and (C)made the sea dry land, and the waters were (D)divided. 22 And (E)the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being (F)a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 23 The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24 And in the morning watch the Lord in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, 25 clogging[a] their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the (G)Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”

26 Then the Lord said to Moses, (H)“Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” 27 (I)So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea (J)returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord (K)threw[b] the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. 28 The (L)waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, (M)not one of them remained. 29 But the (N)people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

30 Thus the Lord (O)saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 (P)Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they (Q)believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.

Jesus and Zacchaeus

19 (A)He entered Jericho and was passing through. And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was rich. And (B)he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed up into (C)a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for (D)I must stay at your house today.” So he hurried and came down and (E)received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all (F)grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods (G)I give to the poor. And if I have (H)defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it (I)fourfold.” And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since (J)he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For (K)the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
