Psalm 124

Thanksgiving for Israel’s Deliverance

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

¹If it had not been the Lord who was on our side
    —let Israel now say—^(A)
²if it had not been the Lord who was on our side,
    when our enemies attacked us,
³then they would have swallowed us up alive,
    when their anger was kindled against us;^(B)
⁴then the flood would have swept us away;
    the torrent would have gone over us;^(C)
⁵then over us would have gone
    the raging waters.

⁶Blessed be the Lord,
    who has not given us
    as prey to their teeth.^(D)
⁷We have escaped like a bird
    from the snare of the hunters;
the snare is broken,
    and we have escaped.^(E)

⁸Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.^(F)

124 願以色列人說：

²如果不是耶和華幫助我們；

那麼，人起來攻擊我們，

³向我們發怒的時候，

就把我們活活吞下去了。

⁴那時，洪水漫過我們，

急流淹沒我們；

⁵洶湧的洪水把我們淹沒。

⁶耶和華是應當稱頌的，

他沒有容讓敵人把我們當作獵物撕裂。

⁷我們像雀鳥從捕鳥的人的網羅裡逃脫；

網羅破裂，我們就逃脫了。

⁸我們的幫助在於耶和華的名，

他是造天地的主。
