⁹⁷Oh how ^(A)I love your law!
    It is my ^(B)meditation all the day.
⁹⁸Your commandment makes me ^(C)wiser than my enemies,
    for it is ever with me.
⁹⁹I have more understanding than all my teachers,
    for ^(D)your testimonies are my meditation.
¹⁰⁰I understand more than ^(E)the aged,^[a]
    for I ^(F)keep your precepts.
¹⁰¹I ^(G)hold back my feet from every evil way,
    in order to keep your word.
¹⁰²I do not turn aside from your rules,
    for you have taught me.
¹⁰³How ^(H)sweet are your words to my taste,
    sweeter than honey to my mouth!
¹⁰⁴Through your precepts I get understanding;
    therefore ^(I)I hate every false way.

The People Complain

11 And ^(A)the people complained in the hearing of the Lord about their misfortunes, and when the Lord heard it, ^(B)his anger was kindled, and ^(C)the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some outlying parts of the camp. ²Then ^(D)the people cried out to Moses, ^(E)and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire died down. ³So the name of that place was called ^(F)Taberah,^[a] because the fire of the Lord burned among them.

⁴Now the ^(G)rabble that was among them had a strong craving. And the people of Israel also ^(H)wept again and said, ^(I)“Oh that we had meat to eat! ⁵^(J)We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic. ⁶But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at.”

⁷Now ^(K)the manna was like coriander seed, and its appearance like that of bdellium. ⁸^(L)The people went about and gathered it and ground it in handmills or beat it in mortars and boiled it in pots and made cakes of it. ^(M)And the taste of it was like the taste of cakes baked with oil. ⁹^(N)When the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell with it.

¹⁷I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles ^(A)contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; ^(B)avoid them. ¹⁸For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but ^(C)their own appetites,^[a] and ^(D)by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. ¹⁹For ^(E)your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you ^(F)to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil. ²⁰^(G)The God of peace ^(H)will soon crush Satan under your feet. ^(I)The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
