Psalms 1–41
The Way of the Righteous and the End of the Ungodly
1 Blessed (A)is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the [a]ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
(B)Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But (C)his delight is in the law of the Lord,
(D)And in His law he [b]meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
(E)Planted by the [c]rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall (F)prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so,
But are (G)like the chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For (H)the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow evil men’s advice, who do not hang around with sinners, scoffing at the things of God. 2 But they delight in doing everything God wants them to, and day and night are always meditating on his laws and thinking about ways to follow him more closely.
3 They are like trees along a riverbank bearing luscious fruit each season without fail. Their leaves shall never wither, and all they do shall prosper.
4 But for sinners, what a different story! They blow away like chaff before the wind. 5 They are not safe on Judgment Day; they shall not stand among the godly.
6 For the Lord watches over all the plans and paths of godly men, but the paths of the godless lead to doom.

Dichoso quien se complace en la ley del Señor
1 Dichoso quien no sigue el consejo de los malvados,
ni en la senda de los pecadores se detiene,
ni en compañía de los necios se sienta,
2 sino que se complace en la ley del Señor
sobre la que reflexiona día y noche.
3 Es como un árbol plantado junto al arroyo:
da fruto a su tiempo y no se secan sus hojas;
consigue todo cuanto emprende.
4 No ocurre así a los malvados,
paja que el viento arrastra.
5 No vencerán los malvados en el juicio,
ni los pecadores en la asamblea de los justos
6 pues el Señor protege la senda de los justos
mientras la senda de los malvados se desvanece.
