¹² ‘For I ^(A)will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and ^(B)against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: ^(C)I am the Lord. ¹³ Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

²³ So He destroyed all living things which were on the face of the ground: both man and cattle, creeping thing and bird of the air. They were destroyed from the earth. Only ^(A)Noah and those who were with him in the ark remained alive.

³⁷ those very men who brought the evil report about the land, ^(A)died by the plague before the Lord. ^38 (B)But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive, of the men who went to spy out the land.

¹⁰ And now, behold, the Lord has kept me ^(A)alive, ^(B)as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel ^[a]wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.
