2 When a land is in rebellion, it has many rulers,(C)
but with a discerning and knowledgeable person, it endures.
7 A discerning son keeps the law,
but a companion of gluttons humiliates his father.(K)
8 Whoever increases his wealth through excessive interest(L)
collects it for one who is kind to the poor.(M)
9 Anyone who turns his ear away from hearing the law—
even his prayer is detestable.(N)
10 The one who leads the upright into an evil way
will fall into his own pit,(O)
but the blameless will inherit what is good.(P)
11 A rich man is wise in his own eyes,
but a poor man who has discernment sees through him.
12 When the righteous triumph,
there is great rejoicing,[c]
but when the wicked come to power,
people hide themselves.(Q)
13 The one who conceals his sins
will not prosper,(R)
but whoever confesses and renounces them
will find mercy.(S)
16 A leader who lacks understanding
is very oppressive,
but one who hates dishonest profit
prolongs his life.(X)
18 The one who lives with integrity will be helped,
but one who distorts right and wrong[e]
will suddenly fall.(AA)
19 The one who works his land
will have plenty of food,(AB)
but whoever chases fantasies
will have his fill of poverty.(AC)
20 A faithful man will have many blessings,(AD)
but one in a hurry to get rich(AE)
will not go unpunished.
23 One who rebukes a person will later find more favor(AI)
than one who flatters[g] with his tongue.(AJ)
24 The one who robs his father or mother(AK)
and says, “That’s no sin,”(AL)
is a companion to a man who destroys.(AM)
27 The one who gives to the poor
will not be in need,
but one who turns his eyes away[i]
will receive many curses.(AQ)
28 When the wicked come to power,
people hide,
but when they are destroyed,
the righteous flourish.(AR)

28 L’empio fugge senza che nessuno lo perseguiti, ma il giusto se ne sta sicuro come un leone.
2 Quando un paese è pieno di misfatti sono numerosi i suoi capi, ma con un uomo intelligente e pratico delle cose l’ordine dura.
3 Un povero che opprime i miseri è come una pioggia che devasta e non dà pane.
4 Quelli che abbandonano la legge lodano gli empi, ma quelli che l’osservano fanno loro la guerra.
5 Gli uomini malvagi non comprendono ciò che è giusto, ma quelli che cercano il Signore comprendono ogni cosa.
6 Meglio il povero che cammina nella sua integrità, che il perverso che cammina nella doppiezza ed è ricco.
7 Chi osserva la legge è un figlio intelligente, ma il compagno dei golosi fa vergogna a suo padre.
8 Chi accresce i suoi beni con gli interessi e l’usura, li accumula per colui che ha pietà dei poveri.
9 Se uno volge altrove gli orecchi per non udire la legge, la sua stessa preghiera è un abominio.
10 Chi spinge i giusti a percorrere una via sbagliata cadrà egli stesso nella fossa che ha scavata, ma gli uomini integri erediteranno il bene.
11 Il ricco si ritiene saggio, ma il povero, che è intelligente, lo scruta.
12 Quando i giusti trionfano la gloria è grande, ma quando gli empi s’innalzano la gente si nasconde.
13 Chi copre le sue colpe non prospererà, ma chi le confessa e le abbandona otterrà misericordia.
14 Beato l’uomo che è sempre timoroso! Ma chi indurisce il suo cuore cadrà nella sfortuna.
15 Un empio che domina un popolo povero è un leone ruggente, un orso affamato.
16 Il principe senza intelligenza fa molte estorsioni, ma chi odia il guadagno disonesto prolunga i suoi giorni.
17 L’uomo su cui pesa un omicidio fuggirà sino alla fossa; nessuno lo fermi!
18 Chi cammina da integro sarà salvato, ma il perverso che percorre vie tortuose cadrà all’improvviso.
19 Chi lavora la sua terra avrà pane in abbondanza, ma chi va dietro ai fannulloni avrà abbondanza di miseria.
20 L’uomo fedele sarà colmato di benedizioni, ma chi ha fretta di arricchire non rimarrà impunito.
21 Avere dei riguardi personali non è bene; per un pezzo di pane l’uomo talvolta diventa colpevole.
22 L’uomo avaro[a] ha fretta di arricchire, e non sa che gli piomberà addosso la miseria.
23 L’uomo che corregge sarà, alla fine, più accetto di chi lusinga con la sua lingua.
24 Chi ruba a suo padre e a sua madre, e dice: «Non è un delitto!», è compagno del dissipatore.
25 Chi ha l’animo avido fa nascere contese, ma chi confida nel Signore sarà saziato.
26 Chi confida nel proprio cuore è uno stolto, ma chi cammina da saggio scamperà.
27 Chi dona al povero non sarà mai nel bisogno, ma colui che chiude gli occhi sarà coperto di maledizioni.
28 Quando gli empi s’innalzano la gente si nasconde, ma quando periscono si moltiplicano i giusti.

28 El que nada debe, nada teme,
pero el malvado siempre huye
aunque nadie lo persiga.
2 En un país lleno de maldad
todos se creen líderes,
pero el gobernante capaz
logra poner el orden.
3 El pobre que maltrata a otro pobre
es como una tormenta
que acaba con las cosechas.
4 Los que se apartan de la ley
aplauden a los malvados,
pero los que la obedecen
se oponen a ellos.
5 Los malvados no entienden nada
acerca de la justicia,
pero los que obedecen a Dios
demuestran que sí la entienden.
6 Vale más el pobre honrado,
que el rico malvado.
7 El que es inteligente
obedece la ley;
el que todo lo malgasta,
llena de vergüenza a su padre.
8 Al que presta dinero
y luego exige que
le devuelvan el doble,
Dios le quitará todo
y hará que alguien
de buen corazón
se lo dé a los pobres.
9 Dios rechaza las oraciones
de los que no lo obedecen.
10 Quien hace pecar al hombre honrado

que despedaza a su presa.

18 El hombre honrado quedará a salvo;
el de mala conducta un día caerá.
19 El que trabaja
tendrá suficiente comida;
el que no trabaja
acabará en la pobreza.
20 El hombre digno de confianza
siempre será alabado;
el que sólo quiere hacerse rico
no quedará sin castigo.
21 No aceptes ser testigo falso
contra ninguna persona;
porque hay quienes lo hacen
hasta por un pedazo de pan.
22 Quien sólo vive
pensando en dinero,
acabará más pobre
de lo que se imagina.
23 El tiempo te demostrará
que vale más
una crítica sincera
que un elogio.
24 Amigo de gente malvada
es quien roba a sus padres
y alega que no ha hecho nada.
25 El amor al dinero es causa de pleitos.
Confía en Dios, y prosperarás.
26 El necio confía en sí mismo;
el sabio se pone a salvo.
27 El que ayuda al pobre
siempre tendrá de todo;
el que no ayuda al pobre
terminará en la desgracia.

but a ruler with discernment and knowledge maintains order.
3 A ruler[a] who oppresses the poor
is like a driving rain that leaves no crops.
4 Those who forsake instruction praise the wicked,
but those who heed it resist them.
5 Evildoers do not understand what is right,
but those who seek the Lord understand it fully.
6 Better the poor whose walk is blameless
than the rich whose ways are perverse.(D)
7 A discerning son heeds instruction,
but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.(E)
8 Whoever increases wealth by taking interest(F) or profit from the poor
amasses it for another,(G) who will be kind to the poor.(H)
9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to my instruction,
even their prayers are detestable.(I)
10 Whoever leads the upright along an evil path
will fall into their own trap,(J)
but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.
11 The rich are wise in their own eyes;
one who is poor and discerning sees how deluded they are.
12 When the righteous triumph, there is great elation;(K)
but when the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding.(L)
13 Whoever conceals their sins(M) does not prosper,
but the one who confesses(N) and renounces them finds mercy.(O)
14 Blessed is the one who always trembles before God,
but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
15 Like a roaring lion or a charging bear
is a wicked ruler over a helpless people.
16 A tyrannical ruler practices extortion,
but one who hates ill-gotten gain will enjoy a long reign.
17 Anyone tormented by the guilt of murder
will seek refuge(P) in the grave;
let no one hold them back.
18 The one whose walk is blameless is kept safe,(Q)
but the one whose ways are perverse will fall(R) into the pit.[b]
19 Those who work their land will have abundant food,
but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.(S)
20 A faithful person will be richly blessed,
but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.(T)
22 The stingy are eager to get rich
and are unaware that poverty awaits them.(X)
23 Whoever rebukes a person will in the end gain favor
rather than one who has a flattering tongue.(Y)
24 Whoever robs their father or mother(Z)
and says, “It’s not wrong,”
is partner to one who destroys.(AA)
27 Those who give to the poor will lack nothing,(AF)
