13 לֵ֣ב שָׂ֭מֵחַ יֵיטִ֣ב פָּנִ֑ים וּבְעַצְּבַת־לֵ֝ב ר֣וּחַ נְכֵאָֽה׃

14 לֵ֣ב נָ֭בוֹן יְבַקֶּשׁ־דָּ֑עַת ׳וּפְנֵי׳ ״וּפִ֥י״ כְ֝סִילִ֗ים יִרְעֶ֥ה אִוֶּֽלֶת׃

15 כָּל־יְמֵ֣י עָנִ֣י רָעִ֑ים וְטֽוֹב־לֵ֝֗ב מִשְׁתֶּ֥ה תָמִֽיד׃

16 טוֹב־מְ֭עַט בְּיִרְאַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה מֵאוֹצָ֥ר רָ֝֗ב וּמְה֥וּמָה בֽוֹ׃

17 ט֤וֹב אֲרֻחַ֣ת יָ֭רָק וְאַהֲבָה־שָׁ֑ם מִשּׁ֥וֹר אָ֝ב֗וּס וְשִׂנְאָה־בֽוֹ׃

18 אִ֣ישׁ חֵ֭מָה יְגָרֶ֣ה מָד֑וֹן וְאֶ֥רֶך אַ֝פַּ֗יִם יַשְׁקִ֥יט רִֽיב׃

19 דֶּ֣רֶךְ עָ֭צֵל כִּמְשֻׂ֣כַת חָ֑דֶק וְאֹ֖רַח יְשָׁרִ֣ים סְלֻלָֽה׃

But [b]when the heart is (B)sad, the (C)spirit is broken.
14 The (D)mind of the intelligent seeks knowledge,
But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.
15 All the days of the [c]needy are bad,
But a [d]cheerful heart has a continual feast.
16 (E)Better is a little with [e]the fear of the Lord
Than great treasure, and turmoil with [f]the treasure.
17 (F)Better is a portion of [g]vegetables where there is love,
Than a (G)fattened ox served with hatred.
18 A (H)hot-tempered person stirs up strife,
But the (I)slow to anger (J)calms a dispute.
19 The way of the [h]lazy one is like a hedge of thorns,
But the path of the upright is a highway.
