1 Proverbes de Salomon, fils de David, roi d'Israël,
2 Pour connaître la sagesse et l'instruction, Pour comprendre les paroles de l'intelligence;
3 Pour recevoir des leçons de bon sens, De justice, d'équité et de droiture;
4 Pour donner aux simples du discernement, Au jeune homme de la connaissance et de la réflexion.
5 Que le sage écoute, et il augmentera son savoir, Et celui qui est intelligent acquerra de l'habileté,
6 Pour saisir le sens d'un proverbe ou d'une énigme, Des paroles des sages et de leurs sentences.
7 La crainte de l'Éternel est le commencement de la science; Les insensés méprisent la sagesse et l'instruction.
8 Écoute, mon fils, l'instruction de ton père, Et ne rejette pas l'enseignement de ta mère;
9 Car c'est une couronne de grâce pour ta tête, Et une parure pour ton cou.
10 Mon fils, si des pécheurs veulent te séduire, Ne te laisse pas gagner.
11 S'ils disent: Viens avec nous! dressons des embûches, versons du sang, Tendons des pièges à celui qui se repose en vain sur son innocence,
12 Engloutissons-les tout vifs, comme le séjour des morts, Et tout entiers, comme ceux qui descendent dans la fosse;
13 Nous trouverons toute sorte de biens précieux, Nous remplirons de butin nos maisons;
14 Tu auras ta part avec nous, Il n'y aura qu'une bourse pour nous tous!
15 Mon fils, ne te mets pas en chemin avec eux, Détourne ton pied de leur sentier;
16 Car leurs pieds courent au mal, Et ils ont hâte de répandre le sang.
17 Mais en vain jette-t-on le filet Devant les yeux de tout ce qui a des ailes;
18 Et eux, c'est contre leur propre sang qu'ils dressent des embûches, C'est à leur âme qu'ils tendent des pièges.
19 Ainsi arrive-t-il à tout homme avide de gain; La cupidité cause la perte de ceux qui s'y livrent.
20 La sagesse crie dans les rues, Elle élève sa voix dans les places:
21 Elle crie à l'entrée des lieux bruyants; Aux portes, dans la ville, elle fait entendre ses paroles:
22 Jusqu'à quand, stupides, aimerez-vous la stupidité? Jusqu'à quand les moqueurs se plairont-ils à la moquerie, Et les insensés haïront-ils la science?
23 Tournez-vous pour écouter mes réprimandes! Voici, je répandrai sur vous mon esprit, Je vous ferez connaître mes paroles...
24 Puisque j'appelle et que vous résistez, Puisque j'étends ma main et que personne n'y prend garde,
25 Puisque vous rejetez tous mes conseils, Et que vous n'aimez pas mes réprimandes,
26 Moi aussi, je rirai quand vous serez dans le malheur, Je me moquerai quand la terreur vous saisira,
27 Quand la terreur vous saisira comme une tempête, Et que le malheur vous enveloppera comme un tourbillon, Quand la détresse et l'angoisse fondront sur vous.
28 Alors ils m'appelleront, et je ne répondrai pas; Ils me chercheront, et ils ne me trouveront pas.
29 Parce qu'ils ont haï la science, Et qu'ils n'ont pas choisi la crainte de l'Éternel,
30 Parce qu'ils n'ont point aimé mes conseils, Et qu'ils ont dédaigné toutes mes réprimandes,
31 Ils se nourriront du fruit de leur voie, Et ils se rassasieront de leurs propres conseils,
32 Car la résistance des stupides les tue, Et la sécurité des insensés les perd;
33 Mais celui qui m'écoute reposera avec assurance, Il vivra tranquille et sans craindre aucun mal.

箴言的價值
1 這是大衛的兒子以色列王所羅門的箴言。
2 為使人認識智慧和教誨，
領悟真知灼見；
3 為使人接受勸誡，
為人處事仁義、公平、正直；
4 使愚昧人明智，
使青年有知識和明辨力；
5 使智者聽了長學問，
明哲聽了得指引；
6 使人領悟箴言和比喻，
明白智者的話和謎語。
7 知識始於敬畏耶和華，
愚人輕視智慧和教誨。
8 孩子啊，
你要聽從父親的教誨，
不可背棄母親的訓言。
9 因為這要作你頭上的華冠，
頸上的項鏈。
10 孩子啊，惡人若引誘你，
千萬不要聽從。
11 他們若說：「跟我們來吧，
我們去埋伏殺人，
暗害無辜者取樂；
12 我們要像陰間一樣生吞他們，
整個吞沒他們，
使他們如墜入墳墓的人；
13 我們必得到各樣寶物，
把戰利品裝滿我們的房屋。
14 跟我們一起幹吧，
大家有福同享！」
15 孩子啊，
不要走他們的道，
切莫行他們的路。
16 因為他們奔向罪惡，
急速地去殺人流血。
17 在飛鳥眼前設網羅，徒勞無功。
18 他們埋伏，卻自流己血；
他們伏擊，卻自害己命。
19 這就是貪愛不義之財者的結局，
不義之財終要奪去他們的性命。
智慧的勸誡
20 智慧在大街上高喊，
在廣場上揚聲，
21 在熱鬧的市集宣告，
在城門口演說：
22 「你們愚昧人喜愛愚昧，
嘲諷者以嘲弄為樂，
無知者厭惡知識，
要到什麼時候呢？
23 你們若因我的責備而回轉，
我就向你們顯明我的旨意[a]，
叫你們明白我的話語。
24 我呼喚你們，
你們卻充耳不聞；
我向你們招手，
你們卻視若無睹。
25 你們漠視我的勸誡，
不接受我的責備。
26 因此，
你們遭遇災難時，
我必發笑；
驚恐臨到你們時，
我必嗤笑——
27 那時，恐懼如風暴襲擊你們，
災難如旋風臨到你們，
憂愁和苦難吞沒你們。
28 你們呼求我，
我也不回答；
你們懇切地尋找我，
卻找不到。
29 因為你們厭惡知識，
不願意敬畏耶和華，
30 不接受我的勸誡，
又藐視我的責備。
31 所以，你們必自食其果，
因自己的惡謀而吃盡苦頭。
32 愚昧人背離正道，
自招滅亡；
愚頑人逍遙自在，
毀掉自己。
33 然而，那聽從我的必安然居住，
得享安寧，
不怕災禍。」

2 要 使 人 曉 得 智 慧 和 訓 誨 ， 分 辨 通 達 的 言 語 ，
3 使 人 處 事 領 受 智 慧 、 仁 義 、 公 平 、 正 直 的 訓 誨 ，
4 使 愚 人 靈 明 ， 使 少 年 人 有 知 識 和 謀 略 ，
5 使 智 慧 人 聽 見 ， 增 長 學 問 ， 使 聰 明 人 得 著 智 謀
6 使 人 明 白 箴 言 和 譬 喻 ， 懂 得 智 慧 人 的 言 詞 和 謎 語 。
7 敬 畏 耶 和 華 是 知 識 的 開 端 ； 愚 妄 人 藐 視 智 慧 和 訓 誨 。

1 Ang mga kawikaan ni Salomon na anak ni David na hari sa Israel:
2 Upang umalam ng karunungan at turo; upang bulayin ang mga salita ng pagkaunawa;
3 Upang tumanggap ng turo sa pantas na paguugali, sa katuwiran, at kahatulan, at karampatan;
4 Upang magbigay ng katalinuhan sa musmos. Kaalaman at pagbubulay sa kabataan:
5 Upang marinig ng pantas, at lumago sa ikatututo: at upang tamuhin ng taong may unawa ang magagaling na payo:
6 Upang umunawa ng kawikaan at ng kahulugan; ng mga salita ng pantas, at ng kanilang malalabong sabi.
7 Ang takot sa Panginoon ay pasimula ng kaalaman: nguni't ang mangmang ay humahamak sa karunungan at turo.
8 Anak ko, dinggin mo ang turo ng iyong ama, at huwag mong pabayaan ang kautusan ng iyong ina:
9 Sapagka't sila'y magiging tali ng biyaya sa iyong ulo, at mga kuwintas sa ligid ng iyong leeg.
10 Anak ko, kung ikaw ay hikayatin ng mga makasalanan, huwag mong tulutan.
11 Kung kanilang sabihin, sumama ka sa amin, tayo'y magsibakay sa pagbububo ng dugo, tayo'y mangagkubli ng silo na walang anomang kadahilanan sa walang sala;
12 Sila'y lamunin nating buhay na gaya ng Sheol. At buo, na gaya ng nagsibaba sa lungaw;
13 Tayo'y makakasumpong ng lahat na mahalagang pag-aari, ating pupunuin ang ating mga bahay ng samsam;
14 Ikaw ay makikipagsapalaran sa gitna namin; magkakaroon tayong lahat ng isang supot:
15 Anak ko, huwag kang lumakad sa daan na kasama nila; pigilin mo ang iyong paa sa kanilang landas:
16 Sapagka't ang kanilang mga paa ay nagsisitakbo sa kasamaan, at sila'y nangagmamadali sa pagbububo ng dugo.
17 Sapagka't walang kabuluhang naladlad ang silo, sa paningin ng alin mang ibon:
18 At binabakayan ng mga ito ang kanilang sariling dugo, kanilang ipinagkukubli ng silo ang kanilang sariling mga buhay.
19 Ganyan ang mga lakad ng bawa't sakim sa pakinabang; na nagaalis ng buhay ng mga may-ari niyaon.
20 Karunungan ay humihiyaw na malakas sa lansangan; kaniyang inilalakas ang kaniyang tinig sa mga luwal na dako;
21 Siya'y humihiyaw sa mga pangulong dako na pinaglilipunan; sa pasukan ng mga pintuang-bayan, sa bayan, kaniyang binibigkas ang kaniyang mga salita:
22 Hanggang kailan kayong mga musmos, magsisiibig sa inyong kamusmusan? At ang mga nanunuya ay maliligaya sa panunuya, at ang mga mangmang ay mangagtatanim sa kaalaman?
23 Magsibalik kayo sa aking saway: narito, aking ibubuhos ang aking espiritu sa inyo.
24 Sapagka't ako'y tumawag, at kayo'y tumanggi: aking iniunat ang aking kamay, at walang makinig;
25 Kundi inyong iniuwi sa wala ang buo kong payo, at hindi ninyo inibig ang aking saway:
26 Ako naman ay tatawa sa kaarawan ng inyong kasakunaan: ako'y manunuya pagka ang inyong takot ay dumarating;

28 Kung magkagayo'y tatawag sila sa akin, nguni't hindi ako sasagot; hahanapin nila akong masikap, nguni't hindi nila ako masusumpungan:
29 Sapagka't kanilang ipinagtanim ang kaalaman, at hindi pinili ang takot sa Panginoon.
30 Ayaw sila ng aking payo; kanilang hinamak ang buo kong pagsaway:
31 Kaya't sila'y magsisikain ng bunga ng kanilang sariling lakad, at mabubusog ng kanilang sariling mga kagagawan.

Purpose and Theme
1 The proverbs(A) of Solomon(B) son of David, king of Israel:(C)
2 for gaining wisdom and instruction;
for understanding words of insight;
3 for receiving instruction in prudent behavior,
doing what is right and just and fair;
4 for giving prudence to those who are simple,[a](D)
knowledge and discretion(E) to the young—
5 let the wise listen and add to their learning,(F)
and let the discerning get guidance—
6 for understanding proverbs and parables,(G)
the sayings and riddles(H) of the wise.[b](I)
7 The fear of the Lord(J) is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools[c] despise wisdom(K) and instruction.(L)
Prologue: Exhortations to Embrace Wisdom
Warning Against the Invitation of Sinful Men
8 Listen, my son,(M) to your father’s(N) instruction
and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.(O)
9 They are a garland to grace your head
and a chain to adorn your neck.(P)
10 My son, if sinful men entice(Q) you,
do not give in(R) to them.(S)
11 If they say, “Come along with us;
let’s lie in wait(T) for innocent blood,
let’s ambush some harmless soul;
12 let’s swallow(U) them alive, like the grave,
and whole, like those who go down to the pit;(V)
13 we will get all sorts of valuable things
and fill our houses with plunder;
14 cast lots with us;
we will all share the loot(W)”—
15 my son, do not go along with them,
do not set foot(X) on their paths;(Y)
16 for their feet rush into evil,(Z)
they are swift to shed blood.(AA)
17 How useless to spread a net
where every bird can see it!
18 These men lie in wait(AB) for their own blood;
they ambush only themselves!(AC)
19 Such are the paths of all who go after ill-gotten gain;
it takes away the life of those who get it.(AD)
Wisdom’s Rebuke
20 Out in the open wisdom calls aloud,(AE)
she raises her voice in the public square;
21 on top of the wall[d] she cries out,
at the city gate she makes her speech:
22 “How long will you who are simple(AF) love your simple ways?
How long will mockers delight in mockery
and fools hate(AG) knowledge?
23 Repent at my rebuke!
Then I will pour out my thoughts to you,
I will make known to you my teachings.
24 But since you refuse(AH) to listen when I call(AI)
and no one pays attention(AJ) when I stretch out my hand,
25 since you disregard all my advice
and do not accept my rebuke,
26 I in turn will laugh(AK) when disaster(AL) strikes you;
I will mock(AM) when calamity overtakes you(AN)—
27 when calamity overtakes you like a storm,
when disaster(AO) sweeps over you like a whirlwind,
when distress and trouble overwhelm you.
28 “Then they will call to me but I will not answer;(AP)
they will look for me but will not find me,(AQ)
29 since they hated knowledge
and did not choose to fear the Lord.(AR)
30 Since they would not accept my advice
and spurned my rebuke,(AS)
31 they will eat the fruit of their ways
and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.(AT)
32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them,
and the complacency of fools will destroy them;(AU)
33 but whoever listens to me will live in safety(AV)
and be at ease, without fear of harm.”(AW)
