15 Un răspuns blând potoleşte furia,
dar o vorbă aspră provoacă mânia.
2 Limba înţelepţilor foloseşte corect cunoştinţa,
dar gura proştilor împroaşcă nebunie.
3 Ochii Domnului sunt în orice loc,
supraveghindu-i atât pe cei răi, cât şi pe cei buni.
4 Limba care aduce însănătoşire este un pom de viaţă,
dar limba stricată zdrobeşte duhul.
5 Prostul dispreţuieşte învăţătura tatălui său,
dar cine primeşte mustrarea este înţelept.
6 În casa celui drept este mare bogăţie,
dar câştigul celor răi le aduce necaz.
7 Buzele celor înţelepţi răspândesc cunoştinţă,
nu tot aşa face şi inima proştilor.
8 Jertfa celor răi este o urâciune înaintea Domnului,
dar rugăciunea celor drepţi Îi este plăcută.
9 Calea celor răi este o urâciune înaintea Domnului,
dar El îi iubeşte pe cei ce urmăresc dreptatea.
10 O disciplinare severă îl aşteaptă pe cel ce părăseşte cărarea,
iar cine dispreţuieşte mustrarea va muri.[a]
11 Locuinţa Morţilor şi Locul Nimicirii[b] sunt înaintea Domnului;
cu cât mai mult inimile fiilor oamenilor!
12 Batjocoritorului nu-i place să fie mustrat;
de aceea nu va merge la cei înţelepţi.
13 O inimă veselă înseninează faţa,
dar, prin îndurerarea inimii, duhul este zdrobit.
14 Inima celor pricepuţi caută cunoştinţă,
dar gura celor proşti se hrăneşte cu prostie.
15 Toate zilele celui nenorocit sunt rele,
dar cel cu inima voioasă are parte de un ospăţ necurmat.
16 Mai bine puţin, dar cu frică de Domnul,
decât o mare bogăţie cu tulburare.
17 Mai bine o mâncare de legume unde este dragoste,
decât un bou îngrăşat unde este ură.
18 Omul iute la mânie provoacă certuri,
dar cel încet la mânie potoleşte cearta.
19 Drumul leneşului este ca o barieră de spini,
dar cărarea celor drepţi este netezită.
20 Un fiu înţelept aduce bucurie tatălui său,
dar omul prost îşi dispreţuieşte mama.
21 Prostia este o bucurie pentru cel fără minte,
dar omul priceput păstrează drumul drept.
22 Fără sfat planurile dau greş,
dar ele reuşesc când sunt mulţi sfetnici.
23 Pentru un om este o bucurie să dea un răspuns iscusit
şi ce bună este o vorbă spusă la timpul potrivit!
24 Pentru cel înţelept cărarea vieţii duce în sus,
ca să-l abată de la Locuinţa Morţilor, care este jos.
25 Domnul distruge casa celor mândri,
dar întăreşte hotarele văduvei.
26 Gândurile rele sunt o urâciune înaintea Domnului,
dar cuvintele plăcute sunt curate.
27 Cel lacom de câştig aduce necaz asupra familiei lui,
dar cel ce urăşte mita va trăi.
28 Inima celui drept cântăreşte răspunsurile,
dar gura celor răi împroaşcă lucruri rele.
29 Domnul este departe de cei răi,
dar ascultă rugăciunea celor drepţi.
30 O privire voioasă[c] înveseleşte inima
şi veştile bune dau sănătate oaselor.
31 Cel ce ascultă mustrarea care duce la viaţă
va locui printre înţelepţi.
32 Cine ignoră corectarea se dispreţuieşte pe sine,
dar cine ascultă mustrarea dobândeşte înţelepciune.
33 Frica de Domnul îl învaţă pe om înţelepciunea,[d]
iar smerenia merge înaintea gloriei.

15 (A)A soft answer turns away wrath,
but (B)a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 The tongue of the wise commends knowledge,
but (C)the mouths of fools pour out folly.
3 (D)The eyes of the Lord are in every place,
keeping watch on the evil and the good.
4 (E)A gentle[a] tongue is (F)a tree of life,
but (G)perverseness in it breaks the spirit.
5 (H)A fool (I)despises his father's instruction,
but (J)whoever heeds reproof is prudent.
6 In the house of the righteous there is much treasure,
but trouble befalls the income of the wicked.
7 (K)The lips of the wise spread knowledge;
(L)not so the hearts of fools.[b]
8 (M)The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
but (N)the prayer of the upright is acceptable to him.
9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
but he loves him (O)who pursues righteousness.
10 There is (P)severe discipline for him who forsakes the way;
(Q)whoever hates reproof will die.
11 Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the Lord;
how much more (R)the hearts of the children of man!
12 (S)A scoffer (T)does not like to be reproved;
he will not go to the wise.
13 (U)A glad heart makes a cheerful face,
but by (V)sorrow of heart the spirit is (W)crushed.
14 (X)The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge,
but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
15 All the days of the afflicted are evil,
but (Y)the cheerful of heart has a continual feast.
16 (Z)Better is a little with the fear of the Lord
than great treasure and trouble with it.
17 (AA)Better is a dinner of herbs where love is
than (AB)a fattened ox and hatred with it.
18 (AC)A hot-tempered man (AD)stirs up strife,
but he who is (AE)slow to anger quiets contention.
19 The way of (AF)a sluggard is like a hedge of (AG)thorns,
but the path of the upright is (AH)a level highway.
20 (AI)A wise son makes a glad father,
but a foolish man despises his mother.
21 (AJ)Folly is a joy to him who lacks sense,
but a man of understanding (AK)walks straight ahead.
22 (AL)Without counsel plans fail,
but with many advisers they succeed.
23 To make an apt answer is a joy to a man,
and (AM)a word in season, how good it is!
24 The path of life leads upward (AN)for the prudent,
that he may turn away from Sheol beneath.
25 The Lord tears down the house of (AO)the proud
but (AP)maintains (AQ)the widow's boundaries.
26 (AR)The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord,
but (AS)gracious words are pure.
27 Whoever is (AT)greedy for unjust gain (AU)troubles his own household,
but he who hates (AV)bribes will live.
28 The heart of the righteous (AW)ponders how to answer,
but (AX)the mouth of the wicked pours out evil things.
29 The Lord is (AY)far from the wicked,
but he (AZ)hears the prayer of the righteous.
30 (BA)The light of the eyes rejoices the heart,
and (BB)good news refreshes[c] the bones.
31 (BC)The ear that listens to (BD)life-giving reproof
will dwell among the wise.
32 Whoever (BE)ignores instruction (BF)despises himself,
but he who listens to reproof (BG)gains intelligence.
33 (BH)The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom,
and (BI)humility comes before honor.

15 Et hårdt svar vækker vrede,
forsonende ord kan afværge et skænderi.
2 Fra den kloges mund kommer en strøm af visdomsord,
fra tåbens mund kommer en flod af tåbeligheder.
3 Herren spejder ud over jorden,
han ser både de onde og de gode.
4 Opmuntrende ord giver mod på livet,
nedsættende ord giver sår i sjælen.
5 Kun en tåbe foragter sin fars formaning,
en fornuftig søn tager imod vejledning.
6 De retskafne opnår succes og velstand,
de onde mister det, de har samlet.
7 Der kommer visdom fra den kloges mund,
det gør der ikke fra tåbens tanker.
8 Herren afskyr de gudløses offergaver,

19 Den dovne synes, at vejen er overgroet med tidsler,
den flittige synes, at vejen er bred og problemfri.
20 Et klogt barn glæder sin far,
kun en tåbe gør nar af sin mor.
21 Den uforstandige er godt tilfreds med sine dumheder,
den kloge har forstand til at gøre det rigtige.
22 Uden god rådgivning går en plan let i vasken,
men når mange tages med på råd, lykkes den.
23 Det er en glæde at kunne give et godt råd,
dejligt at kunne sige det forløsende ord.

but the hearts of fools are not upright.
10 Stern discipline awaits anyone who leaves the path;
the one who hates correction will die.(T)
12 Mockers resent correction,(W)
so they avoid the wise.
14 The discerning heart seeks knowledge,(Z)
but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.
15 All the days of the oppressed are wretched,
but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.(AA)
16 Better a little with the fear of the Lord
than great wealth with turmoil.(AB)
17 Better a small serving of vegetables with love

27 The greedy bring ruin to their households,

31 Whoever heeds life-giving correction
