    going down to the chambers of death.

⁵ Her feet ^(A)go down to death;
    her steps follow the path to^[a] Sheol;

¹⁸ But he does not know ^(A)that the dead^[a] are there,
    that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

^18 (A)for her house sinks down to death,
    and her paths to the departed;^[a]
19 none who go to her come back,
    nor do they regain the paths of life.
