3 Entonces el Señor me dijo: «Ve otra vez, ama a una mujer amada por otro y adúltera, así como el Señor ama a los israelitas(A) a pesar de que ellos se vuelven a otros dioses y se deleitan con tortas de pasas(B)». 2 La compré(C), pues, para mí por 15 siclos (171 gramos) de plata y un homer y medio (330 litros) de cebada. 3 Y le dije: «Te quedarás conmigo por muchos días(D). No te prostituirás, ni serás de otro hombre, y yo también seré para ti». 4 Porque por muchos días los israelitas quedarán sin rey y sin príncipe(E), sin sacrificio(F) y sin pilar sagrado(G), sin efod(H) y sin ídolos domésticos(I). 5 Después los israelitas volverán y buscarán al Señor su Dios(J) y a David su rey(K); y acudirán temblorosos al Señor(L) y a Su bondad en los últimos días.

In Time They’ll Come Back
3 Then God ordered me, “Start all over: Love your wife again,
your wife who’s in bed with her latest boyfriend, your cheating wife.
Love her the way I, God, love the Israelite people,
even as they flirt and party with every god that takes their fancy.”
2-3 I did it. I paid good money to get her back.
It cost me the price of a slave.
Then I told her, “From now on you’re living with me.
No more whoring, no more sleeping around.
You’re living with me and I’m living with you.”

4-5 The people of Israel are going to live a long time
stripped of security and protection,
without religion and comfort,
godless and prayerless.
But in time they’ll come back, these Israelites,
come back looking for their God and their David-King.
They’ll come back chastened to reverence
before God and his good gifts, ready for the End of the story of his love.

3 Herren sa till mig: ”Gå och älska din hustru igen, trots att hon är älskad av en annan och otrogen. Älska henne som Herren älskar israeliterna, trots att de har vänt sig till andra gudar och offrat druvkakor till dem.”[a] 2 Då köpte jag henne för femton siklar silver och 1,5 homer korn.[b] 3 Jag sa till henne: ”Nu ska du leva med mig en lång tid. Du får inte leva som sköka och inte vara tillsammans med någon annan man. Jag ska också vara så mot dig.” 4 För Israel ska under en lång tid leva utan kung och utan furste, utan offer och utan stenstod, utan efod och utan husgudar. 5 Men sedan ska israeliterna vända tillbaka och söka Herren, sin Gud, och David, sin kung. De ska komma bävande till Herren och till hans godhet i kommande dagar.

- 3:2 En sikel motsvarade 12 gram, så femton siklar var 180 gram. En homer var tio efamått, och en efa har i sin tur varierat mellan 20 och 40 liter; beräknat från medelvärdet 30 liter blir 1,5 homer 450 liter.

Hosea’s Reconciliation With His Wife
3 The Lord said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress.(A) Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.(B)”
2 So I bought her for fifteen shekels[a] of silver and about a homer and a lethek[b] of barley. 3 Then I told her, “You are to live with me many days; you must not be a prostitute or be intimate with any man, and I will behave the same way toward you.”
4 For the Israelites will live many days without king or prince,(C) without sacrifice(D) or sacred stones,(E) without ephod(F) or household gods.(G) 5 Afterward the Israelites will return and seek(H) the Lord their God and David their king.(I) They will come trembling(J) to the Lord and to his blessings in the last days.(K)
