10 (A)Tell it not in Gath,
Weep not at all.
At [a]Beth-le-aphrah roll yourself in the dust.
11 [b]Pass on by, inhabitant of [c]Shaphir, in (B)shameful nakedness.
The inhabitant of [d](C)Zaanan does not go out.
The lamentation of [e]Beth-ezel: “He will take from you its [f]support.”
12 For the inhabitant of [g]Maroth
Writhes (D)in waiting for good
Because a [h]calamity has come down from Yahweh
To the (E)gate of Jerusalem.

Beth Ezel is in mourning;
it no longer protects you.
12 Those who live in Maroth[e] writhe in pain,
waiting for relief,(B)
because disaster(C) has come from the Lord,
even to the gate of Jerusalem.
