Jesus Calms a Storm

^23 (A)And when He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. ²⁴ And behold, there arose ^[a]a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was sleeping. ²⁵ And they came to Him and got Him up, saying, “^(B)Save us, Lord; we are perishing!” ²⁶ And He *said to them, “Why are you so cowardly, ^(C)you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and ^[b]it became perfectly calm. ²⁷ And the men marveled, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”

^36 [a]And leaving the crowd, they *took Him along with them ^(A)in the boat, just as He was; and other boats were with Him. ³⁷ And a great windstorm *arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat so that the boat was already filling up. ³⁸ And Jesus Himself was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion; and they *got Him up and *said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” ³⁹ And He woke up and ^(B)rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still.” And the wind died down and ^[b]it became ^[c]perfectly calm. ⁴⁰ And He said to them, “Why are you so cowardly? ^(C)Do you still have no faith?” ⁴¹ And they became ^[d]very afraid and were saying to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

Jesus Calms a Storm

^22 (A)Now it happened that on one of those days He and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let us go over to the other side of ^(B)the lake.” So they set sail. ²³ But as they were sailing along, He fell asleep, and a windstorm descended on ^(C)the lake, and they began to be swamped and in danger. ²⁴ And they came to Him and woke Him up, saying, “^(D)Master, Master, we are perishing!” And He woke up and ^(E)rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and ^[a]it became calm. ²⁵ And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” They were fearful and marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?”
