5 “Blessed are the (A)meek, for they (B)shall inherit the earth.
6 “Blessed are those who hunger and (C)thirst (D)for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
7 “Blessed are (E)the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
8 “Blessed are (F)the pure in heart, for (G)they shall see God.
9 “Blessed are (H)the peacemakers, for (I)they shall be called (J)sons[a] of God.

who are humble.
The earth will belong
to them!

who want to obey him[a]
more than to eat or drink.
They will be given
what they want!
7 God blesses those people
who are merciful.
They will be treated
with mercy!
8 (C) God blesses those people
whose hearts are pure.
They will see him!
9 God blesses those people
who make peace.
They will be called
his children!
