²⁴ And Jesus answered and said to them, “I will also ask you one ^[a]thing, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.

²⁵ The baptism of John was from what source, from heaven or from men?” And they began reasoning among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say to us, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

¹⁷ Therefore, tell us, what do You think? Is it ^[a]lawful to give a ^(A)tax to ^(B)Caesar, or not?”

¹⁸ But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, “Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites?

¹⁹ Show Me the ^(A)coin used for the tax.” And they brought Him a ^[a]denarius.

⁶ So Jesus *said to them, “^(A)My time is not yet here, but your time is always here.

^7 (A)The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I bear witness about it, that ^(B)its deeds are evil.
