1:25 Verses 24 and 25 have been moved before verse 22 to help the reader understand the continuity of the passage.

²⁵But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.^(A)

²⁵but he kept her a virgin until she had given birth to a Son [her firstborn child]; and he named Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation).
