¹⁰ They kept this word^(A) to themselves, questioning what “rising from the dead” meant.

¹¹ Then they asked him, “Why do the scribes^(B) say that Elijah must come first?” ^(C)

¹² “Elijah does come first and restores^(D) all things,”^(E) he replied. “Why then is it written^(F) that the Son of Man must suffer^(G) many things and be treated with contempt?^(H)
