55 But He turned and rebuked them.[a] 56 And they went on to another village.
Exacting Discipleship
57 (A)As they were going on the road, (B)someone said to Him, “I will follow You wherever You go.” 58 And Jesus said to him, “The foxes have holes and the birds of the sky have nests, but (C)the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” 59 And He said to another, “(D)Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” 60 But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and (E)proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.” 61 Another also said, “I will follow You, Lord; but (F)first permit me to say goodbye to those at my home.”

58 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man(C) has no place to lay his head.”
59 He said to another man, “Follow me.”(D)
But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”(E)
61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”(F)

56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
