¹⁷ And the scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to Him. And He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written:

⁸ Therefore ^[a]it says,

⁹ (Now this expression, “He ^(C)ascended,” what ^[b]does it mean except that He also ^[c]had descended into ^(D)the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He who descended is Himself also He who ascended ^(E)far above all the heavens, so that He might ^(F)fill all things.)

^51 (A)And behold, ^(B)the ^[a]veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and ^(C)the earth shook and the rocks were split. ⁵² Also the tombs were opened, and many bodies of the ^[b]saints who had ^(D)fallen asleep were raised; ⁵³ and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection, they entered ^(E)the holy city and appeared to many.

¹⁷ And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, ^(A)Simon ^[a]Barjona, because ^(B)flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. ¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are ^[b](C)Peter, and upon this ^[c]rock I will build My church; and the gates of ^(D)Hades will not overpower it. ¹⁹ I will give you ^(E)the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and ^(F)whatever you ^[d]bind on earth ^[e]shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you ^[f]loose on earth ^[g]shall have been loosed in heaven.”

⁵⁴ But when this ^[a]perishable puts on ^[b]the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written: “^(A)Death has been swallowed up in victory. ^55 (B)Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting?” ⁵⁶ The sting of ^(C)death is sin, and ^(D)the power of sin is the Law;

¹⁷ When I saw Him, I ^(A)fell at His feet like a dead man. And He ^(B)placed His right hand on me, saying, “^(C)Do not be afraid; ^(D)I am the first and the last, ¹⁸ and the ^(E)living One; and I ^[a](F)was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have ^(G)the keys of death and of Hades.
