2 In those days ^(A)a decree went out from ^(B)Caesar Augustus that all the world should be ^(C)registered. ² This was the first ^(D)registration when^[a] Quirinius ^(E)was governor of Syria.

^6 (A)Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, ^7 (B)casting all your anxieties on him, because ^(C)he cares for you.
