²¹ And he said, ^(A)“All these I have kept from my youth.”

^6 (A)as to zeal, ^(B)a persecutor of the church; ^(C)as to righteousness under the law,^[a] blameless.

² For I bear them witness that ^(A)they have a zeal for God, ^(B)but not according to knowledge. ³ For, being ignorant of ^(C)the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.

¹¹ The Pharisee, ^(A)standing by himself, prayed^{[a] (B)}thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. ^12 (C)I fast twice a week; ^(D)I give tithes of all that I get.’

⁷ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who ^(A)repents than over ninety-nine ^(B)righteous persons who need no repentance.

²⁰ And he said to him, “Teacher, ^(A)all these I have kept from my youth.” ²¹ And Jesus, ^(B)looking at him, ^(C)loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, ^(D)sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have ^(E)treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

²⁰ The young man said to him, ^(A)“All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” ²¹ Jesus said to him, “If you would be ^(B)perfect, go, ^(C)sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have ^(D)treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

²⁹ but he answered his father, ‘Look, these many years I have served you, and I never disobeyed your command, yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might ^(A)celebrate with my friends.
