Chiamata dei primi quattro discepoli
5 Un giorno, mentre, levato in piedi, stava presso il lago di Genèsaret 2 e la folla gli faceva ressa intorno per ascoltare la parola di Dio, vide due barche ormeggiate alla sponda. I pescatori erano scesi e lavavano le reti. 3 Salì in una barca, che era di Simone, e lo pregò di scostarsi un poco da terra. Sedutosi, si mise ad ammaestrare le folle dalla barca.
4 Quando ebbe finito di parlare, disse a Simone: «Prendi il largo e calate le reti per la pesca». 5 Simone rispose: «Maestro, abbiamo faticato tutta la notte e non abbiamo preso nulla; ma sulla tua parola getterò le reti». 6 E avendolo fatto, presero una quantità enorme di pesci e le reti si rompevano. 7 Allora fecero cenno ai compagni dell'altra barca, che venissero ad aiutarli. Essi vennero e riempirono tutte e due le barche al punto che quasi affondavano. 8 Al veder questo, Simon Pietro si gettò alle ginocchia di Gesù, dicendo: «Signore, allontanati da me che sono un peccatore». 9 Grande stupore infatti aveva preso lui e tutti quelli che erano insieme con lui per la pesca che avevano fatto; 10 così pure Giacomo e Giovanni, figli di Zebedèo, che erano soci di Simone. Gesù disse a Simone: «Non temere; d'ora in poi sarai pescatore di uomini». 11 Tirate le barche a terra, lasciarono tutto e lo seguirono.
Guarigione di un lebbroso
12 Un giorno Gesù si trovava in una città e un uomo coperto di lebbra lo vide e gli si gettò ai piedi pregandolo: «Signore, se vuoi, puoi sanarmi». 13 Gesù stese la mano e lo toccò dicendo: «Lo voglio, sii risanato!». E subito la lebbra scomparve da lui. 14 Gli ingiunse di non dirlo a nessuno: «Và, mostrati al sacerdote e fà l'offerta per la tua purificazione, come ha ordinato Mosè, perché serva di testimonianza per essi». 15 La sua fama si diffondeva ancor più; folle numerose venivano per ascoltarlo e farsi guarire dalle loro infermità. 16 Ma Gesù si ritirava in luoghi solitari a pregare.
Guarigione di un paralitico
17 Un giorno sedeva insegnando. Sedevano là anche farisei e dottori della legge, venuti da ogni villaggio della Galilea, della Giudea e da Gerusalemme. E la potenza del Signore gli faceva operare guarigioni. 18 Ed ecco alcuni uomini, portando sopra un letto un paralitico, cercavano di farlo passare e metterlo davanti a lui. 19 Non trovando da qual parte introdurlo a causa della folla, salirono sul tetto e lo calarono attraverso le tegole con il lettuccio davanti a Gesù, nel mezzo della stanza. 20 Veduta la loro fede, disse: «Uomo, i tuoi peccati ti sono rimessi». 21 Gli scribi e i farisei cominciarono a discutere dicendo: «Chi è costui che pronuncia bestemmie? Chi può rimettere i peccati, se non Dio soltanto?». 22 Ma Gesù, conosciuti i loro ragionamenti, rispose: «Che cosa andate ragionando nei vostri cuori? 23 Che cosa è più facile, dire: Ti sono rimessi i tuoi peccati, o dire: Alzati e cammina? 24 Ora, perché sappiate che il Figlio dell'uomo ha il potere sulla terra di rimettere i peccati: io ti dico - esclamò rivolto al paralitico - alzati, prendi il tuo lettuccio e và a casa tua». 25 Subito egli si alzò davanti a loro, prese il lettuccio su cui era disteso e si avviò verso casa glorificando Dio. 26 Tutti rimasero stupiti e levavano lode a Dio; pieni di timore dicevano: «Oggi abbiamo visto cose prodigiose».
Chiamata di Levi
27 Dopo ciò egli uscì e vide un pubblicano di nome Levi seduto al banco delle imposte, e gli disse: «Seguimi!». 28 Egli, lasciando tutto, si alzò e lo seguì.
Pasto con i peccatori presso Levi
29 Poi Levi gli preparò un grande banchetto nella sua casa. C'era una folla di pubblicani e d'altra gente seduta con loro a tavola. 30 I farisei e i loro scribi mormoravano e dicevano ai suoi discepoli: «Perché mangiate e bevete con i pubblicani e i peccatori?». 31 Gesù rispose: «Non sono i sani che hanno bisogno del medico, ma i malati; 32 io non sono venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori a convertirsi».
Discussione sul digiuno
33 Allora gli dissero: «I discepoli di Giovanni digiunano spesso e fanno orazioni; così pure i discepoli dei farisei; invece i tuoi mangiano e bevono!». 34 Gesù rispose: «Potete far digiunare gli invitati a nozze, mentre lo sposo è con loro? 35 Verranno però i giorni in cui lo sposo sarà strappato da loro; allora, in quei giorni, digiuneranno». 36 Diceva loro anche una parabola: «Nessuno strappa un pezzo da un vestito nuovo per attaccarlo a un vestito vecchio; altrimenti egli strappa il nuovo, e la toppa presa dal nuovo non si adatta al vecchio. 37 E nessuno mette vino nuovo in otri vecchi; altrimenti il vino nuovo spacca gli otri, si versa fuori e gli otri vanno perduti. 38 Il vino nuovo bisogna metterlo in otri nuovi. 39 Nessuno poi che beve il vino vecchio desidera il nuovo, perché dice: Il vecchio è buono!».

5 εγενετο δε εν τω τον οχλον επικεισθαι αυτω του ακουειν τον λογον του θεου και αυτος ην εστως παρα την λιμνην γεννησαρετ
2 και ειδεν δυο πλοια εστωτα παρα την λιμνην οι δε αλιεις αποβαντες απ αυτων απεπλυναν τα δικτυα
3 εμβας δε εις εν των πλοιων ο ην του σιμωνος ηρωτησεν αυτον απο της γης επαναγαγειν ολιγον και καθισας εδιδασκεν εκ του πλοιου τους οχλους
4 ως δε επαυσατο λαλων ειπεν προς τον σιμωνα επαναγαγε εις το βαθος και χαλασατε τα δικτυα υμων εις αγραν
5 και αποκριθεις ο σιμων ειπεν αυτω επιστατα δι ολης της νυκτος κοπιασαντες ουδεν ελαβομεν επι δε τω ρηματι σου χαλασω το δικτυον
6 και τουτο ποιησαντες συνεκλεισαν ιχθυων πληθος πολυ διερρηγνυτο δε το δικτυον αυτων
7 και κατενευσαν τοις μετοχοις τοις εν τω ετερω πλοιω του ελθοντας συλλαβεσθαι αυτοις και ηλθον και επλησαν αμφοτερα τα πλοια ωστε βυθιζεσθαι αυτα
8 ιδων δε σιμων πετρος προσεπεσεν τοις γονασιν του ιησου λεγων εξελθε απ εμου οτι ανηρ αμαρτωλος ειμι κυριε
9 θαμβος γαρ περιεσχεν αυτον και παντας τους συν αυτω επι τη αγρα των ιχθυων η συνελαβον
10 ομοιως δε και ιακωβον και ιωαννην υιους ζεβεδαιου οι ησαν κοινωνοι τω σιμωνι και ειπεν προς τον σιμωνα ο ιησους μη φοβου απο του νυν ανθρωπους εση ζωγρων
11 και καταγαγοντες τα πλοια επι την γην αφεντες απαντα ηκολουθησαν αυτω
12 και εγενετο εν τω ειναι αυτον εν μια των πολεων και ιδου ανηρ πληρης λεπρας και ιδων τον ιησουν πεσων επι προσωπον εδεηθη αυτου λεγων κυριε εαν θελης δυνασαι με καθαρισαι
13 και εκτεινας την χειρα ηψατο αυτου ειπων θελω καθαρισθητι και ευθεως η λεπρα απηλθεν απ αυτου
14 και αυτος παρηγγειλεν αυτω μηδενι ειπειν αλλα απελθων δειξον σεαυτον τω ιερει και προσενεγκε περι του καθαρισμου σου καθως προσεταξεν μωσης εις μαρτυριον αυτοις
15 διηρχετο δε μαλλον ο λογος περι αυτου και συνηρχοντο οχλοι πολλοι ακουειν και θεραπευεσθαι υπ αυτου απο των ασθενειων αυτων
16 αυτος δε ην υποχωρων εν ταις ερημοις και προσευχομενος
17 και εγενετο εν μια των ημερων και αυτος ην διδασκων και ησαν καθημενοι φαρισαιοι και νομοδιδασκαλοι οι ησαν εληλυθοτες εκ πασης κωμης της γαλιλαιας και ιουδαιας και ιερουσαλημ και δυναμις κυριου ην εις το ιασθαι αυτους
18 και ιδου ανδρες φεροντες επι κλινης ανθρωπον ος ην παραλελυμενος και εζητουν αυτον εισενεγκειν και θειναι ενωπιον αυτου
19 και μη ευροντες δια ποιας εισενεγκωσιν αυτον δια τον οχλον αναβαντες επι το δωμα δια των κεραμων καθηκαν αυτον συν τω κλινιδιω εις το μεσον εμπροσθεν του ιησου
20 και ιδων την πιστιν αυτων ειπεν αυτω ανθρωπε αφεωνται σοι αι αμαρτιαι σου
21 και ηρξαντο διαλογιζεσθαι οι γραμματεις και οι φαρισαιοι λεγοντες τις εστιν ουτος ος λαλει βλασφημιας τις δυναται αφιεναι αμαρτιας ει μη μονος ο θεος
22 επιγνους δε ο ιησους τους διαλογισμους αυτων αποκριθεις ειπεν προς αυτους τι διαλογιζεσθε εν ταις καρδιαις υμων
23 τι εστιν ευκοπωτερον ειπειν αφεωνται σοι αι αμαρτιαι σου η ειπειν εγειραι και περιπατει
24 ινα δε ειδητε οτι εξουσιαν εχει ο υιος του ανθρωπου επι της γης αφιεναι αμαρτιας ειπεν τω παραλελυμενω σοι λεγω εγειραι και αρας το κλινιδιον σου πορευου εις τον οικον σου
25 και παραχρημα αναστας ενωπιον αυτων αρας εφ ω κατεκειτο απηλθεν εις τον οικον αυτου δοξαζων τον θεον
26 και εκστασις ελαβεν απαντας και εδοξαζον τον θεον και επλησθησαν φοβου λεγοντες οτι ειδομεν παραδοξα σημερον
27 και μετα ταυτα εξηλθεν και εθεασατο τελωνην ονοματι λευιν καθημενον επι το τελωνιον και ειπεν αυτω ακολουθει μοι
28 και καταλιπων απαντα αναστας ηκολουθησεν αυτω
29 και εποιησεν δοχην μεγαλην ο λευις αυτω εν τη οικια αυτου και ην οχλος τελωνων πολυς και αλλων οι ησαν μετ αυτων κατακειμενοι
30 και εγογγυζον οι γραμματεις αυτων και οι φαρισαιοι προς τους μαθητας αυτου λεγοντες διατι μετα τελωνων και αμαρτωλων εσθιετε και πινετε
31 και αποκριθεις ο ιησους ειπεν προς αυτους ου χρειαν εχουσιν οι υγιαινοντες ιατρου αλλ οι κακως εχοντες
32 ουκ εληλυθα καλεσαι δικαιους αλλα αμαρτωλους εις μετανοιαν
33 οι δε ειπον προς αυτον διατι οι μαθηται ιωαννου νηστευουσιν πυκνα και δεησεις ποιουνται ομοιως και οι των φαρισαιων οι δε σοι εσθιουσιν και πινουσιν
34 ο δε ειπεν προς αυτους μη δυνασθε τους υιους του νυμφωνος εν ω ο νυμφιος μετ αυτων εστιν ποιησαι νηστευειν
35 ελευσονται δε ημεραι και οταν απαρθη απ αυτων ο νυμφιος τοτε νηστευσουσιν εν εκειναις ταις ημεραις
36 ελεγεν δε και παραβολην προς αυτους οτι ουδεις επιβλημα ιματιου καινου επιβαλλει επι ιματιον παλαιον ει δε μηγε και το καινον σχιζει και τω παλαιω ου συμφωνει επιβλημα το απο του καινου
37 και ουδεις βαλλει οινον νεον εις ασκους παλαιους ει δε μηγε ρηξει ο νεος οινος τους ασκους και αυτος εκχυθησεται και οι ασκοι απολουνται
38 αλλα οινον νεον εις ασκους καινους βλητεον και αμφοτεροι συντηρουνται
39 και ουδεις πιων παλαιον ευθεως θελει νεον λεγει γαρ ο παλαιος χρηστοτερος εστιν

Jesus Calls His First Disciples(A)
5 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret,[a] the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God.(B) 2 He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.(C)
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”(D)
5 Simon answered, “Master,(E) we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.(F) But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.(G) 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!”(H) 9 For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid;(I) from now on you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.(J)
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(K)
12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy.[b](L) When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.
14 Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone,(M) but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded(N) for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
15 Yet the news about him spread all the more,(O) so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.(P)
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man(Q)
17 One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law(R) were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.(S) 18 Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. 19 When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”(T)
21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”(U)
22 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 24 But I want you to know that the Son of Man(V) has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. 26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God.(W) They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”
Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners(X)
27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,”(Y) Jesus said to him, 28 and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.(Z)
29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors(AA) and others were eating with them. 30 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect(AB) complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”(AC)
31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”(AD)
Jesus Questioned About Fasting(AE)
33 They said to him, “John’s disciples(AF) often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.”
34 Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom(AG) fast while he is with them? 35 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them;(AH) in those days they will fast.”
36 He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. 37 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. 39 And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’”
