9 Imena svih Izraelaca bila su navedena u obiteljskim stablima upisanima u Knjizi izraelskih kraljeva.
Povratnici iz progonstva
Narod Jude bio je prisilno odveden u Babilon jer nisu bili vjerni Bogu. 2 Prvi koji su se vratili i naselili svoja bivša područja bili su neki Izraelci, svećenici, Leviti i hramski sluge.
3 Ovo su ljudi iz Judinog, Benjaminovog, Efrajimovog i Manašeovog plemena koji su živjeli u Jeruzalemu:
4 Utaj je bio Amihudov sin, Amihud je bio Omrijev sin, Omri je bio Imrijev sin. Imri je bio Banijev sin, a Bani je bio potomak Judinog sina Peresa.
5 Od Šilonaca, u Jeruzalemu je živio prvorođeni sin Asaja, zajedno sa svojim sinovima.
6 Od Zerahovaca, u Jeruzalemu je živio Jeuel s rođacima. Njih je bilo ukupno šesto i devedeset.
7 Iz Benjaminovog je plemena u Jeruzalemu živio Salu. On je bio Mešulamov sin, Mešulam je bio Hodavijin sin, a Hodavija je bio Hasenuin sin. 8 Ibneja je bio Jerohamov sin. Ela je bio Uzijev sin, Uzi je bio Mikrijev sin, Mešulam je bio Šefatijin sin, Šefatija je bio Reuelov sin, a Reuel je bio Ibnijin sin.
9 Pripadnika Benjaminovog plemena u Jeruzalemu je bilo, prema njihovom obiteljskom stablu, devet stotina i pedeset šest. Svi su oni bili glavari obitelji.
10 Ovo su svećenici koji su živjeli u Jeruzalemu: Jedaja, Jehojarib, Jakin i 11 Azarija. Azarija je bio Hilkijin sin, Hilkija je bio Mešulamov sin, Mešulam je bio Sadokov sin, Sadok je bio Merajotov sin, a Merajot je bio Ahitubov sin. Ahitub je bio glavni službenik u Božjem Hramu. 12 Ondje je bio i Adaja, Jerohamov sin. Jeroham je bio Pašhurov sin, a Pašhur je bio Malkijin sin. Ondje je bio i Masaj, Adielov sin. Adiel je bio Jahzerin sin, Jahzera je bio Mešulamov sin, Mešulam je bio Mešilemitov sin, a Mešilemit je bio Imerov sin.
13 Svećenika, koji su ujedno bili i glavari obitelji, bilo je tisuću sedam stotina i šezdeset. Bili su to sposobni ljudi, zaduženi za vršenje službe u Božjem Hramu.
14 Od Levita, u Jeruzalemu je živio Šemaja, Hašubov sin. Hašub je bio Azrikamov sin, Azrikam je bio Hašabijahov sin, a Hašabijah je bio Merarijev potomak. 15 Ondje su živjeli i Bakbakar, Hereš, Galal i Matanija. Matanija je bio Mikin sin, Mika je bio Zikrijev sin, a Zikri je bio Asafov sin. 16 Obadija je bio Šemajin sin, Šemaja je bio Galalov sin, a Galal je bio Jedutunov sin. Berekija je bio Asin sin, a Asa je bio Elkanin sin. Berekija je živio u netofanskim selima[a].
17 Ovo su vratari koji su živjeli u Jeruzalemu: Šalum, Akub, Talmon i Ahiman te njihovi rođaci. Poglavar im je bio Šalum. 18 Radi se o vratarima iz Levijevog plemena, a stoje kod Kraljevih vrata na istoku. 19 Šalumov je otac bio Kore, Koreov je otac bio Abjasaf, a Abjasafov je otac bio Korah. Šalum i njegova braća bili su iz Korahove obitelji i svi su bili vratari. Bili su zaduženi za čuvanje ulaza u Sveti šator, baš kao i njihovi preci koji su bili zaduženi za čuvanje ulaza u BOŽJE prebivalište.
20 Dotad je nadglednik vratara bio Pinhas, Eleazarov sin. BOG je bio s njim. 21 Zaharija, Mešelemijin sin, bio je čuvar ulaza u Sveti šator.
22 Ukupno su bila dvije stotine dvanaestorica ljudi izabranih da čuvaju vrata Svetog šatora. Imena su im zapisana u obiteljskim stablima iz njihovih sela, a na tu su ih važnu službu postavili David i vidjelac Samuel. 23 Tako su oni i njihovi potomci čuvali vrata BOŽJEGA Hrama unutar kojeg je bio Sveti šator. 24 Vratari su bili na četiri strane: na istoku, na zapadu, na sjeveru i na jugu. 25 Njihovi su rođaci sa sela ponekad morali doći na sedam dana i pomoći im. 26 A četvorica glavnih čuvara vrata, koji su bili Leviti, bila su zadužena za prostorije i riznice Božjega Hrama. 27 Noć su provodili oko Božjega Hrama, a dužnost im je bila da ga čuvaju i otključavaju svakog jutra.
28 Neki od Levita brinuli su se o predmetima za službu u Hramu i prebrojavali ih dok su se unosili i iznosili. 29 Drugi su bili određeni da vode brigu o opremi i posuđu u svetištu, kao i o brašnu, vinu, ulju, tamjanu i začinima. 30 Međutim, za izradu pomasti od začina bili su zaduženi svećenici.
31 Levit po imenu Matitija, prvorođeni sin Korahovog potomka Šaluma, bio je zadužen za skrb o svemu što se peklo u tavi. 32 A neki od njihovih rođaka Kehatovaca vodili su brigu o pečenju svetoga kruha za svaki šabat.
33 Pjevači, glavari levitskih obitelji, bili su oslobođeni svakoga drugog posla. Živjeli su u hramskim prostorijama jer su i danju i noću bili na dužnosti.
34 Sve su to bili glavari levitskih obitelji, vođe zapisane u svojim obiteljskim stablima, a živjeli su u Jeruzalemu.
Povijest obitelji kralja Šaula
(1 Ljet 8,29-38)
35 Jeiel je utemeljio Gibeon i ondje živio sa svojom ženom Maakom. 36 Prvorođeni mu se sin zvao Abdon, a ostali su bili Sur, Kiš, Baal, Ner, Nadab, 37 Gedor, Ahjo, Zaharija i Miklot. 38 Miklot je imao sina Šimeama. Jeielova je obitelj živjela u Jeruzalemu, blizu svojih rođaka.
39 Ner je imao sina Kiša, Kiš je imao sina Šaula, a Šaulu su se rodili Jonatan, Malki Šua, Abinadab i Eš Baal.
40 Jonatanov je sin bio Merib Baal, a njemu se rodio Mika.
41 Mikini su sinovi bili Piton, Melek, Tahrea i Ahaz. 42 Ahaz je imao sina Jaru, Jara je imao sinove Alemeta, Azmaveta i Zimrija, koji je imao sina Mosu, 43 Mosa je imao sina Binu, koji je imao sina Refaju, Refaja je imao sina Elasu, a Elasa Asela.
44 Asel je imao šestoricu sinova koji su se zvali Azrikam, Bokru, Išmael, Šearija, Obadija i Hanan. Bila su to Aselova djeca.

9 All Israel(A) was listed in the genealogies recorded in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. They were taken captive to Babylon(B) because of their unfaithfulness.(C)
The People in Jerusalem(D)
2 Now the first to resettle on their own property in their own towns(E) were some Israelites, priests, Levites and temple servants.(F)
3 Those from Judah, from Benjamin, and from Ephraim and Manasseh who lived in Jerusalem were:
4 Uthai son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, a descendant of Perez son of Judah.(G)
5 Of the Shelanites[a]:
Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.
6 Of the Zerahites:
Jeuel.
The people from Judah numbered 690.
7 Of the Benjamites:
Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah;
8 Ibneiah son of Jeroham; Elah son of Uzzi, the son of Mikri; and Meshullam son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah.
9 The people from Benjamin, as listed in their genealogy, numbered 956. All these men were heads of their families.

Jedaiah; Jehoiarib; Jakin;
11 Azariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the official in charge of the house of God;
12 Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur,(H) the son of Malkijah; and Maasai son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer.
13 The priests, who were heads of families, numbered 1,760. They were able men, responsible for ministering in the house of God.
14 Of the Levites:
Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, a Merarite; 15 Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal and Mattaniah(I) son of Mika, the son of Zikri, the son of Asaph; 16 Obadiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berekiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.(J)
17 The gatekeepers:(K)
Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman and their fellow Levites, Shallum their chief 18 being stationed at the King’s Gate(L) on the east, up to the present time. These were the gatekeepers belonging to the camp of the Levites. 19 Shallum(M) son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his fellow gatekeepers from his family (the Korahites) were responsible for guarding the thresholds of the tent just as their ancestors had been responsible for guarding the entrance to the dwelling of the Lord. 20 In earlier times Phinehas(N) son of Eleazar was the official in charge of the gatekeepers, and the Lord was with him. 21 Zechariah(O) son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
22 Altogether, those chosen to be gatekeepers(P) at the thresholds numbered 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. The gatekeepers had been assigned to their positions of trust by David and Samuel the seer.(Q) 23 They and their descendants were in charge of guarding the gates of the house of the Lord—the house called the tent of meeting. 24 The gatekeepers were on the four sides: east, west, north and south. 25 Their fellow Levites in their villages had to come from time to time and share their duties for seven-day(R) periods. 26 But the four principal gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the responsibility for the rooms and treasuries(S) in the house of God. 27 They would spend the night stationed around the house of God,(T) because they had to guard it; and they had charge of the key(U) for opening it each morning.
28 Some of them were in charge of the articles used in the temple service; they counted them when they were brought in and when they were taken out. 29 Others were assigned to take care of the furnishings and all the other articles of the sanctuary,(V) as well as the special flour and wine, and the olive oil, incense and spices. 30 But some(W) of the priests took care of mixing the spices. 31 A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with the responsibility for baking the offering bread. 32 Some of the Kohathites, their fellow Levites, were in charge of preparing for every Sabbath the bread set out on the table.(X)
33 Those who were musicians,(Y) heads of Levite families, stayed in the rooms of the temple and were exempt from other duties because they were responsible for the work day and night.(Z)
34 All these were heads of Levite families, chiefs as listed in their genealogy, and they lived in Jerusalem.
The Genealogy of Saul(AA)
35 Jeiel(AB) the father[b] of Gibeon lived in Gibeon.
His wife’s name was Maakah, 36 and his firstborn son was Abdon, followed by Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, 37 Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah and Mikloth. 38 Mikloth was the father of Shimeam. They too lived near their relatives in Jerusalem.
39 Ner(AC) was the father of Kish,(AD) Kish the father of Saul, and Saul the father of Jonathan,(AE) Malki-Shua, Abinadab and Esh-Baal.[c](AF)
40 The son of Jonathan:
Merib-Baal,[d](AG) who was the father of Micah.
41 The sons of Micah:
Pithon, Melek, Tahrea and Ahaz.[e]
42 Ahaz was the father of Jadah, Jadah[f] was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth and Zimri, and Zimri was the father of Moza. 43 Moza was the father of Binea; Rephaiah was his son, Eleasah his son and Azel his son.
44 Azel had six sons, and these were their names:
Azrikam, Bokeru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
