¹⁵ so they went there for the night. But as no one invited them in, they camped in the village square. ¹⁶ Just then an old man came by on his way home from his work in the fields. (He was originally from the hill country of Ephraim, but was living now in Gibeah, even though it was in the territory of Benjamin.) ¹⁷ When he saw the travelers camped in the square, he asked them where they were from and where they were going.
