²⁴ Then the Israelites burned the town and everything in it. Only the things made from silver, gold, bronze, or iron were kept for the treasury of the Lord’s house.

⁷ Year after year it was the same—Peninnah would taunt Hannah as they went to the Tabernacle.^[a] Each time, Hannah would be reduced to tears and would not even eat.

²⁴ When the child was weaned, Hannah took him to the Tabernacle in Shiloh. They brought along a three-year-old bull^[a] for the sacrifice and a basket^[b] of flour and some wine.
