²⁹ After these things, the Lord’s servant, Joshua son of Nun, died at the age of 110.

⁸ Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of 110.

¹⁸ Now take action, because the Lord has spoken concerning David: ‘Through my servant David I will save my people Israel from the power of the Philistines and the power of all Israel’s enemies.’”

⁵ “Go to my servant David and say, ‘This is what the Lord says: Are you to build me a house to dwell in?^(A)

⁸ “So now this is what you are to say to my servant David: ‘This is what the Lord of Armies says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, to be ruler over my people Israel.^(A)

¹³ Yet I will not tear the entire kingdom away from him. I will give one tribe to your son^(A) for the sake of my servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem that I chose.”

⁸ tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to you.^(A) But you were not like my servant David, who kept my commands and followed me with all his heart, doing only what is right in my sight.

¹² because they did not listen to the Lord their God but violated his covenant—all he had commanded Moses the servant of the Lord. They did not listen, and they did not obey.^(A)

⁸ I will never again cause the feet of the Israelites to wander from the land I gave to their ancestors if only they will be careful to do all I have commanded them—the whole law that my servant Moses commanded them.”^(A)
