²⁸¶ Then they said unto him, What shall we do that we might work the works of God?

²⁹Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe in him whom he has sent.

³⁰They said therefore unto him, What sign showest thou then that we may see and believe thee? what dost thou work?

²⁸Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

²⁹Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe^(A) in the one he has sent.”^(B)

³⁰So they asked him, “What sign^(C) then will you give that we may see it and believe you?^(D) What will you do?
