The Authority of Jesus Challenged

^23 (A)And when he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came up to him ^(B)as he was teaching, and said, ^(C)“By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?”

² For I bear them witness that ^(A)they have a zeal for God, ^(B)but not according to knowledge.

²⁹ And they said to one another, “Who has done this thing?” And after they had searched and inquired, they said, “Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing.”

³⁸ And Saul said, “Come here, all you leaders of the people, and know and see how this sin has arisen today.
