John 4:13-27
English Standard Version
13 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but (A)whoever drinks of the water that I will give him (B)will never be thirsty again.[a] The water that I will give him will become (C)in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, (D)give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”
16 Jesus said to her, “Go, (E)call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.” 19 The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that (F)you are (G)a prophet. 20 (H)Our fathers worshiped on (I)this mountain, but you say that (J)in Jerusalem is (K)the place where people ought to worship.” 21 Jesus said to her, (L)“Woman, believe me, (M)the hour is coming when (N)neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 (O)You worship what you do not know; (P)we worship what we know, for (Q)salvation is (R)from the Jews. 23 But (S)the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father (T)in spirit and (U)truth, for the Father (V)is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” 25 The woman said to him, “I know that (W)Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, (X)he will tell us all things.” 26 Jesus said to her, (Y)“I who speak to you am he.”
27 Just then (Z)his disciples came back. They marveled that he was talking with a woman, but no one said, “What do you seek?” or, “Why are you talking with her?”

John 4:13-27
New International Version
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.(A) Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water(B) welling up to eternal life.”(C)
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty(D) and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
17 “I have no husband,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.(E) 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain,(F) but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”(G)
21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming(H) when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.(I) 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know;(J) we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.(K) 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come(L) when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit(M) and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit,(N) and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ)(O) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”(P)
The Disciples Rejoin Jesus
27 Just then his disciples returned(Q) and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
John 4:13-27
King James Version
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
