²⁶ But the Advocate,^(A) the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,^(B) will teach you all things^(C) and will remind you of everything I have said to you.^(D)

The Work of the Holy Spirit

²⁶ “When the Advocate^(A) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father^(B)—the Spirit of truth^(C) who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.^(D)

¹⁶ And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate^(A) to help you and be with you forever—

⁷ But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate^(A) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.^(B)

²⁷ As for you, the anointing^(A) you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things^(B) and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.^(C)

¹⁰ these are the things God has revealed^(A) to us by his Spirit.^(B)

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. ¹¹ For who knows a person’s thoughts^(C) except their own spirit^(D) within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. ¹² What we have received is not the spirit^(E) of the world,^(F) but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us. ¹³ This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom^(G) but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.^[a]

²² After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said.^(A) Then they believed the scripture^(B) and the words that Jesus had spoken.

²⁰ But you have an anointing^(A) from the Holy One,^(B) and all of you know the truth.^[a](C)

¹⁹ Do you not know that your bodies are temples^(A) of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;^(B)
