Here’s the man!
19 So Pilate then took Jesus and had him flogged. 2 The soldiers wove a crown of thorns, put it on his head, and dressed him up in a purple robe. 3 Then they came up to him and said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they slapped him.
4 Pilate went out again.
“Look,” he said to them, “I’m bringing him out to you, so that you’ll know I find no guilt in him.”
5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple cloak.
“Look!” said Pilate. “Here’s the man!”
6 So when the chief priests and their attendants saw him, they gave a great shout.
“Crucify him!” they yelled. “Crucify him!”
“Take him yourselves and crucify him!” said Pilate. “I find him not guilty!”
7 “We’ve got a law,” replied the Judaeans, “and according to that law he deserves to die! He made himself the son of God!”
No king but Caesar
8 When Pilate heard that, he was all the more afraid. 9 He went back into the Praetorium and spoke to Jesus.
“Where do you come from?” he asked.
But Jesus gave him no answer.
10 So Pilate addressed him again.
“Aren’t you going to speak to me?” he said. “Don’t you know that I have the authority to let you go, and the authority to crucify you?”
11 “You couldn’t have any authority at all over me,” replied Jesus, “unless it was given to you from above. That’s why the person who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”
12 From that moment on, Pilate tried to let him go.
But the Judaeans shouted at him.
“If you let this fellow go,” they said, “you are no friend of Caesar! Everyone who sets himself up as a king is speaking against Caesar!”
13 So when Pilate heard them saying that, he brought Jesus out and sat down at the official judgment seat, called The Pavement (in Hebrew, “Gabbatha”). 14 It was about midday on the day of Preparation for the Passover.
“Look,” said Pilate, “here is your king!”
15 “Take him away!” they shouted. “Take him away! Crucify him!”
“Do you want me to crucify your king?” asked Pilate.
“We have no king,” the chief priests replied, “except Caesar!”
16 Then he handed him over to them to be crucified.
The King of the Jews
So they took Jesus away. 17 He carried his own cross, and went to the spot called Skull Place (in Hebrew, “Golgotha”). 18 That was where they crucified him. They also crucified two others, one on either side of him, with Jesus in the middle.
19 Pilate wrote a notice and had it placed on the cross:
JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS
20 Lots of the Judaeans read this notice, because the place where Jesus was crucified was close to the city. It was written in Hebrew, Latin and Greek.
21 So the chief priests said to Pilate, “Don’t write ‘The King of the Jews’! Write that he said, ‘I am the King of the Jews’!”
22 “What I’ve written,” replied Pilate, “I’ve written.”
23 When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, giving each soldier one part. When they came to his tunic, they found that it was a single piece of cloth, woven from top to bottom.
24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to each other. “Let’s throw lots for it, to see who’s going to have it.”
This was so that the Bible would be fulfilled, when it says,
They took my clothes and divided them up,
they threw the dice to decide on my garments.
And that’s what the soldiers did.
The death of Jesus
25 Jesus’ mother was standing beside his cross. So was her sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, with Mary Magdalene too. 26 Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple he specially loved, standing there.
“Mother,” he said. “Look! There’s your son.”
27 Then he spoke to the disciple.
“Look!” he said. “There’s your mother.”
From that time, the disciple welcomed her into his own home.
28 After this, Jesus knew that everything had at last been completed.
“I’m thirsty,” he said (fulfilling what the Bible had said).
29 There was a jar there full of sour wine. So they put a sponge filled with the sour wine on a hyssop rod and lifted it to his mouth. 30 Jesus drank it.
“It’s all done!” he said.
Then he let his head drop, and gave up his spirit.
Blood and water
31 It was the day of Preparation. The coming sabbath was a very special one, and the Judaeans were anxious that the bodies should not remain on the cross during the sabbath. So they asked Pilate to have the legs of the crucified men broken, and their bodies taken away.
32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the men who were crucified with Jesus, first the one, then the other. 33 But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, so they didn’t break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers thrust a spear into his side, and blood and water came out. 35 (The one who saw it is giving evidence, and his evidence is true. He knows he’s speaking the truth, so that you too may believe.) 36 These things, you see, came about so that the Bible might come true: “No bone of his will be broken.” 37 And, again, another passage in the Bible says, “They shall look on the one whom they pierced.”
The burial of Jesus
38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate if he could take Jesus’ body away. He was a disciple of Jesus, but he kept it secret because he was afraid of the Judaeans. Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took his body. 39 Nicodemus came too (the man who, at first, had visited Jesus by night). He brought a concoction of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds in weight. 40 They took Jesus’ body, and wrapped it up in cloths with the spices, according to the normal Judaean burial custom.
41 There was a garden in the place where he was crucified. In the garden, there was a new tomb in which nobody had ever been buried. 42 So, because the tomb was nearby, and because of the Judaean day of Preparation, they buried Jesus there.

19 فَأمَرَ بِيلَاطُسُ بِأنْ يُؤخَذَ يَسُوعُ وَيُجلَدَ. 2 فَصَنَعَ الجُنُودُ تَاجًا مِنَ الشَّوكِ وَوَضَعُوهُ عَلَى رَأسِهِ، ثُمَّ ألبَسُوهُ رِدَاءً أُرجُوانِيَّ اللَّونِ.[a] 3 وَكَانُوا يَأْتُونَ إلَيْهِ وَيَقُولُونَ: «نُحَيِّيكَ يَا مَلِكَ اليَهُودِ!» وَكَانُوا يَصْفَعُونَهُ.
4 ثُمَّ خَرَجَ بِيلَاطُسُ ثَانِيَةً وَقَالَ لَهمْ: «هَا أنَا أُخرِجُهُ إلَيكُمْ لِكَي تَعْلَمُوا أنِّي لَا أجِدُ مَا أتَّهِمُهُ بِهِ.» 5 فَخَرَجَ يَسُوعُ لَابِسًا تَاجَ الشَّوكِ وَالرِّدَاءَ الأُرجُوانِيَّ. فَقَالَ لَهُمْ بِيلَاطُسُ: «هَا هُوَ الرَّجُلُ!»
6 فَلَمَّا رَآهُ كِبَارُ الكَهَنَةِ وَحُرَّاسُ الهَيْكَلِ، صَرَخُوا: «اصلِبْهُ! اصلِبْهُ!» فَقَالَ لَهُمْ بِيلَاطُسُ: «أنْتُمْ خُذُوهُ وَاصلِبُوهُ! فَأنَا لَا أجِدُ مَا أتَّهِمُهُ بِهِ.» 7 فَأجَابَهُ اليَهُودُ: «لَدَيْنَا شَرِيعَةٌ، وَوَفقَ شَرِيعَتِنَا يَنْبَغِي أنْ يَمُوتَ هَذَا، لِأنَّهُ ادَّعَى أنَّهُ ابْنُ اللهِ!»
8 فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ بِيلَاطُسُ هَذَا خَافَ كَثِيرًا. 9 فَدَخَلَ إلَى قَصْرِ الوَالِي ثَانِيَةً وَقَالَ لِيَسُوعَ: «مِنْ أيْنَ أنْتَ؟» لَكِنَّ يَسُوعَ لَمْ يُجِبْهُ. 10 فَقَالَ لَهُ بِيلَاطُسُ: «أتَرْفُضُ أنْ تُكَلِّمَنِي؟ ألَا تَعْلَمُ أنَّنِي أملُكُ سُلطَةً لإخلَاءِ سَبِيلِكَ، وَسُلطَةً لِصَلْبِكَ؟»
11 أجَابَهُ يَسُوعُ: «مَا كُنْتَ لِتَمْلُكَ أيَّةَ سُلطَةٍ عَلَيَّ لَوْ لَمْ يُعطِكَ إيَّاهَا اللهُ. لِذَلِكَ فَإنَّ خَطِيَّةَ الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي سَلَّمَنِي إلَيْكَ أعْظَمُ مِنْ خَطِيَّتِكَ.»
12 بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بَدَأ بِيلَاطُسُ يُحَاوِلُ أنْ يَجِدَ طَرِيقَةً لإطلَاقِ يَسُوعَ. لَكِنَّ اليَهُودَ صَرَخُوا: «إنْ أطلَقْتَهُ، فَلَسْتَ مُوالِيًا لِلقَيصَرِ! فَكُلُّ مَنْ يَقُولُ إنَّهُ مَلِكٌ هُوَ عَدُوٌّ لِلقَيصَرِ.»
13 فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ بِيلَاطُسُ هَذَا الكَلَامَ، أخْرَجَ يَسُوعَ، ثُمَّ جَلَسَ عَلَى كُرسِيِّ القَضَاءِ فِي مَكَانٍ يُدْعَى «البَلَاطَ» وَبِالآرَامِيَّةِ «جَبَّاتَا.» 14 وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ ظُهْرَ يَوْمِ الجُمْعَةِ، يَوْمَ الاسْتِعدَادِ لِلفِصْحِ. فَقَالَ بِيلَاطُسُ لِليَهُودِ: «هَا هُوَ مَلِكُكُمْ!»
15 فَصَرَخُوا: «أبعِدْهُ عَنَّا! أبعِدْهُ! اصلِبْهُ!» فَقَالَ لَهُمْ بِيلَاطُسُ: «هَلْ أصلِبُ مَلِكَكُمْ؟» فَأجَابَهُ كِبَارُ الكَهَنَةِ: «لَيْسَ لَنَا مَلِكٌ سِوَى القَيصَرِ!»
16 حِينَئِذٍ سَلَّمَهُ بِيلَاطُسُ إلَيْهِمْ لِكَي يُصلَبَ.
يَسُوعُ عَلَى الصَّلِيب

فَأخَذَ الجُنُودُ يَسُوعَ. 17 فَمَضَى حَامِلًا صَلِيبَهُ إلَى مَكَانٍ يُدْعَى «مَكَانَ الجُمجُمَةِ،» وَبِالآرَامِيَّةِ «جُلجُثَةَ.» 18 فَصَلَبُوهُ هُنَاكَ، وَصَلَبُوا مَعْهُ رَجُلَينِ آخَرَينِ. فَكَانَ أحَدُهُمَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَالآخَرُ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ، وَيَسُوعُ فِي الوَسَطِ.
19 وَكَتَبَ بِيلَاطُسُ لَافِتَةً تَقُولُ: «يَسُوعُ النَّاصِرِيُّ، مَلِكُ اليَهُودِ.» وَعَلَّقَهَا عَلَى الصَّلِيبِ. 20 فَقَرَأهَا كَثِيرُونَ مِنَ اليَهُودِ، لِأنَّ المَكَانَ الَّذِي صُلِبَ فِيهِ يَسُوعُ كَانَ قُرْبَ المَدِينَةِ. وَكَانَتِ اللَّافِتَةُ مَكْتُوبَةً بِالعِبرِيَّةِ وَاللَّاتِينِيَّةِ وَاليُونَانِيَّةِ.
21 فَقَالَ كِبَارُ كَهَنَةِ اليَهُودِ لِبِيلَاطُسَ: «لَا تَكْتُبْ ‹مَلِكَ اليَهُودِ،› بَلِ اكتُبْ: ‹قَالَ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ: أنَا مَلِكُ اليَهُودِ.›»
22 فَأجَابَ بِيلَاطُسُ: «فَاتَ الأوَانُ، فَقَدْ كَتَبْتُ مَا كَتَبْتُ.»
23 وَكَانَ الجُنُودُ، بَعْدَ أنْ صَلَبُوا يَسُوعَ، قَدْ أخَذُوا ثِيَابَهُ وَقَسَّمُوهَا إلَى أرْبَعَةِ أقسَامٍ. وَأخَذَ كُلُّ جُندِيٍّ قِسْمًا مِنْهَا. وَأخَذُوا أيْضًا قَمِيصَهُ الطَّوِيلَ، لَكِنَّ القَمِيصَ كَانَ قِطعَةً وَاحِدَةً مَنسُوجَةً بِغَيرِ خِيَاطَةٍ مِنَ الأعْلَى إلَى الأسفَلِ. 24 فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ: «لَا نُمَزِّقُ هَذَا القَمِيصَ، بَلْ نُجرِي عَلَيْهِ قُرعَةً لِنَرَى لِمَنْ يَكُونُ.» حَدَثَ هَذَا لِكَي يَتَحَقَّقَ قَولُ الكِتَابِ:
«اقتَسَمُوا ثِيَابِي فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمْ،
وَعَلَى قَمِيصِي ألقَوْا قُرعَةً.»[b]
وَهَذَا مَا فَعَلَهُ الجُنُودُ.
25 وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ يَسُوعَ وَأُختُهَا، وَمَريَمُ زَوْجَةُ كِلُوبَا، وَمَريَمُ المَجْدَلِيَّةُ وَاقِفَاتٍ عِنْدَ الصَّلِيبِ. 26 فَرَأى يَسُوعُ أُمَّهُ وَالتِّلمِيذَ الَّذِي كَانَ يُحِبُّهُ وَاقِفَينِ هُنَاكَ. فَقَالَ لِأُمِّهِ: «يَا سَيِّدَةُ، هَا هُوَ ابْنُكِ.» 27 ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلتِّلمِيذِ: «هَا هِيَ أُمُّكَ.» فَأخَذَهَا ذَلِكَ التِّلمِيذُ لِتَعِيشَ فِي بَيْتِهِ مُنْذُ ذَلِكَ الوَقْتِ.

28 وَإذْ رَأى يَسُوعُ أنَّ كُلَّ شَيءٍ قَدْ تَمَّ، قَالَ: «أنَا عَطشَانُ،»[c] لِكَي يَتَحَقَّقَ مَا هُوَ مَكْتُوبٌ. 29 وَكَانَ هُنَاكَ إنَاءٌ مَملُوءٌ بِالخَلِّ. فَغَمَسُوا إسْفِنجَةً فِي الخَلِّ وَرَفَعُوهَا عَلَى سَاقِ نَبتَةِ زُوفَا، وَوَضَعُوهَا عَلَى فَمِ يَسُوعَ. 30 فَلَمَّا ذَاقَ يَسُوعُ الخَلَّ، قَالَ: «قَدْ تَمَّ.» ثُمَّ حَنَى رَأسَهُ وَمَاتَ.
31 حَدَثَ ذَلِكَ يَوْمَ الاسْتِعدَادِ لِلسَّبْتِ، فَطَلَبَ اليَهُودُ مِنْ بِيلَاطُسَ أنْ يَأْمُرَ بِكَسْرِ سِيقَانِ المَصلُوبِينَ وَإنزَالِ أجسَادِهِمْ عَنِ الصُّلبَانِ، لِكَي لَا تَبْقَى الأجسَادُ عَلَى الصُّلبَانِ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ. فَقَدْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ السَّبْتُ يَومًا مُهِمًّا جِدًّا. 32 فَجَاءَ الجُنُودُ وَكَسَرُوا سَاقَي الرَّجُلَينِ المَصلُوبَينِ مَعَ يَسُوعَ.
33 أمَّا يَسُوعُ فَلَمْ يَكْسِرُوا سَاقَيهِ، لِأنَّهُمْ لَمَّا جَاءُوا إلَيْهِ وَجَدُوا أنَّهُ قَدْ مَاتَ. 34 لَكِنَّ وَاحِدًا مِنَ الجُنُودِ طَعَنَ جَنبَهُ بِرُمحِهِ، فَتَدَفَّقَ مِنْهُ عَلَى الفَوْرِ دَمٌ وَمَاءٌ. 35 وَمَنْ رَأى ذَلِكَ يَشْهَدُ، وَشَهَادَتُهُ صَادِقَةٌ، وَهُوَ يَعْرِفُ أنَّهُ يَقُولُ الصِّدْقَ، لِكَي تُؤمِنُوا أنْتُمْ أيْضًا. 36 وَقَدْ حَدَثَ هَذَا لِكَي يَتَحَقَّقَ قَولُ الكِتَابِ: «لَا يُكسَرُ عَظمٌ وَاحِدٌ مِنْ عِظَامِهِ.»[d] 37 وَقَولُهُ فِي مَوضِعٍ آخَرَ: «سَيَنْظُرُ النَّاسُ إلَى ذَاكَ الَّذِي طَعَنُوهُ.»[e]
دَفْنُ يَسُوع

38 بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ اسْمُهُ يُوسُفُ الرَّامِيُّ، وَطَلَبَ إذْنًا مِنْ بِيلَاطُسَ كَي يُنزِلَ جَسَدَ يَسُوعَ عَنِ الصَّلِيبِ وَيَأْخُذَهُ. وَكَانَ يُوسُفُ مِنْ أتبَاعِ يَسُوعَ فِي الخَفَاءِ، فَقَدْ كَانَ يَخْشَى اليَهُودَ! فَأذِنَ لَهُ بِيلَاطُسُ بِذَلِكَ. فَجَاءَ يُوسُفُ وَأنزَلَ الجَسَدَ عَنِ الصَّلِيبِ.
39 كَمَا جَاءَ أيْضًا نِيقُودِيمُوسُ، وَهُوَ الَّذِي كَانَ قَدْ جَاءَ إلَى يَسُوعَ لَيْلًا،[f] وَكَانَ يَحْمِلُ خَلِيطًا مِنْ خُلَاصَةِ نَبَاتَيِّ المُرِّ[g] وَالصَّبْرِ[h] يَزِنُ نَحْوَ خَمْسَةٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ كِيلُو غَرَامًا.[i] 40 فَأخَذَا جَسَدَ يَسُوعَ وَلَفَّاهُ بِالأكفَانِ مَعَ الأطيَابِ، حَسَبَ عَادَاتِ الدَّفْنِ اليَهُودِيَّةِ. 41 وَكَانَ هُنَاكَ بُستَانٌ فِي المَكَانِ الَّذِي صُلِبَ فِيهِ يَسُوعُ. وَكَانَ فِي البُستَانِ قَبْرٌ جَدِيدٌ لَمْ يُدفَنْ فِيهِ أحَدٌ مِنْ قَبْلُ. 42 فَوَضَعَا يَسُوعَ هُنَاكَ لِأنَّهُ كَانَ يَوْمَ استِعدَادِ اليَهُودِ لِلسَّبْتِ، وَلِأنَّ القَبْرَ كَانَ قَرِيبًا.

19 Pilato tomó entonces a Jesús y mandó azotarlo. 2 Los soldados trenzaron una corona de espinas, la pusieron en la cabeza de Jesús y lo vistieron con una capa de color rojo oscuro. 3 Luego se acercaron a él, diciendo:
—¡Viva el Rey de los judíos!
Y le pegaban en la cara.
4 Pilato volvió a salir, y les dijo:
—Miren, aquí lo traigo, para que se den cuenta de que no encuentro en él ningún delito.
5 Salió, pues, Jesús, con la corona de espinas en la cabeza y vestido con aquella capa de color rojo oscuro. Pilato dijo:
—¡Ahí tienen a este hombre!
6 Cuando lo vieron los jefes de los sacerdotes y los guardianes del templo, comenzaron a gritar:
—¡Crucifícalo! ¡Crucifícalo!
Pilato les dijo:
—Pues llévenselo y crucifíquenlo ustedes, porque yo no encuentro ningún delito en él.
7 Las autoridades judías le contestaron:
—Nosotros tenemos una ley, y según nuestra ley debe morir, porque se ha hecho pasar por Hijo de Dios.
8 Al oír esto, Pilato tuvo más miedo todavía. 9 Entró de nuevo en el palacio y le preguntó a Jesús:
—¿De dónde eres tú?
Pero Jesús no le contestó nada. 10 Pilato le dijo:
—¿Es que no me vas a contestar? ¿No sabes que tengo autoridad para crucificarte, lo mismo que para ponerte en libertad?
11 Entonces Jesús le contestó:
—No tendrías ninguna autoridad sobre mí, si Dios no te lo hubiera permitido; por eso, el que me entregó a ti es más culpable de pecado que tú.
12 Desde aquel momento, Pilato buscaba la manera de dejar libre a Jesús; pero los judíos le gritaron:
—¡Si lo dejas libre, no eres amigo del emperador! ¡Cualquiera que se hace rey, es enemigo del emperador!
13 Pilato, al oír esto, sacó a Jesús, y luego se sentó en el tribunal, en el lugar que en hebreo se llamaba Gabatá, que quiere decir El Empedrado. 14 Era el día antes de la Pascua, como al mediodía. Pilato dijo a los judíos:
—¡Ahí tienen a su rey!
15 Pero ellos gritaron:
—¡Fuera! ¡Fuera! ¡Crucifícalo!
Pilato les preguntó:
—¿Acaso voy a crucificar a su rey?
Y los jefes de los sacerdotes le contestaron:
—¡Nosotros no tenemos más rey que el emperador!
16 Entonces Pilato les entregó a Jesús para que lo crucificaran, y ellos se lo llevaron.
Jesús es crucificado(A)
17 Jesús salió llevando su cruz, para ir al llamado «Lugar de la Calavera» (que en hebreo se llama Gólgota). 18 Allí lo crucificaron, y con él a otros dos, uno a cada lado, quedando Jesús en el medio. 19 Pilato escribió un letrero que decía: «Jesús de Nazaret, Rey de los judíos», y lo mandó poner sobre la cruz. 20 Muchos judíos leyeron aquel letrero, porque el lugar donde crucificaron a Jesús estaba cerca de la ciudad, y el letrero estaba escrito en hebreo, latín y griego. 21 Por eso, los jefes de los sacerdotes judíos dijeron a Pilato:
—No escribas: “Rey de los judíos”, sino escribe: “El que dice ser Rey de los judíos”.
22 Pero Pilato les contestó:
—Lo que he escrito, escrito lo dejo.
23 Después que los soldados crucificaron a Jesús, recogieron su ropa y la repartieron en cuatro partes, una para cada soldado. Tomaron también la túnica, pero como era sin costura, tejida de arriba abajo de una sola pieza, 24 los soldados se dijeron unos a otros:
—No la rompamos, sino echémosla a suertes, a ver a quién le toca.
Así se cumplió la Escritura que dice: «Se repartieron entre sí mi ropa, y echaron a suertes mi túnica.» Esto fue lo que hicieron los soldados.
25 Junto a la cruz de Jesús estaban su madre, y la hermana de su madre, María, esposa de Cleofás, y María Magdalena. 26 Cuando Jesús vio a su madre, y junto a ella al discípulo a quien él quería mucho, dijo a su madre:
—Mujer, ahí tienes a tu hijo.
27 Luego le dijo al discípulo:
—Ahí tienes a tu madre.
Desde entonces, ese discípulo la recibió en su casa.
Muerte de Jesús(B)
28 Después de esto, como Jesús sabía que ya todo se había cumplido, y para que se cumpliera la Escritura, dijo:
—Tengo sed.
29 Había allí un jarro lleno de vino agrio. Empaparon una esponja en el vino, la ataron a una rama de hisopo y se la acercaron a la boca. 30 Jesús bebió el vino agrio, y dijo:
—Todo está cumplido.
Luego inclinó la cabeza y entregó el espíritu.
La lanzada en el costado de Jesús
31 Era el día antes de la Pascua, y los judíos no querían que los cuerpos quedaran en las cruces durante el sábado, pues precisamente aquel sábado era muy solemne. Por eso le pidieron a Pilato que ordenara quebrar las piernas a los crucificados y que quitaran de allí los cuerpos. 32 Los soldados fueron entonces y le quebraron las piernas al primero, y también al otro que estaba crucificado junto a Jesús. 33 Pero al acercarse a Jesús, vieron que ya estaba muerto. Por eso no le quebraron las piernas.
34 Sin embargo, uno de los soldados le atravesó el costado con una lanza, y al momento salió sangre y agua. 35 El que cuenta esto es uno que lo vio, y dice la verdad; él sabe que dice la verdad, para que ustedes también crean. 36 Porque estas cosas sucedieron para que se cumpliera la Escritura que dice: «No le quebrarán ningún hueso.» 37 Y en otra parte, la Escritura dice: «Mirarán al que traspasaron.»
Jesús es sepultado(C)
38 Después de esto, José, el de Arimatea, pidió permiso a Pilato para llevarse el cuerpo de Jesús. José era discípulo de Jesús, aunque en secreto por miedo a las autoridades judías. Pilato le dio permiso, y José fue y se llevó el cuerpo. 39 También Nicodemo, el que una noche fue a hablar con Jesús, llegó con unos treinta kilos de un perfume, mezcla de mirra y áloe. 40 Así pues, José y Nicodemo tomaron el cuerpo de Jesús y lo envolvieron con vendas empapadas en aquel perfume, según la costumbre que siguen los judíos para enterrar a los muertos. 41 En el lugar donde crucificaron a Jesús había un huerto, y en el huerto un sepulcro nuevo donde todavía no habían puesto a nadie. 42 Allí pusieron el cuerpo de Jesús, porque el sepulcro estaba cerca y porque ya iba a empezar el sábado de los judíos.
