27 Job continuó con su discurso, y dijo:
2 «¡Vive Dios, el Todopoderoso,
que me amarga la vida al negarme su justicia!
3 Pero mientras me quede vida,
mientras quede en mí el hálito divino,
4 no emitirán mis labios nada reprochable,
ni mi lengua pronunciará engaño alguno.
5 Jamás podré dar a ustedes la razón;
sostendré mi inocencia hasta la muerte.
6 No renunciaré a insistir en mi justicia;
mientras viva, tendré la conciencia tranquila.
7 ¡Que sean mis enemigos como los malvados!
¡Que sean mis adversarios como los inicuos!
8 »¿Que fin le espera al malvado y ladrón,
cuando Dios le arrebate la vida?
9 ¿Acaso Dios escuchará su clamor
cuando le sobrevenga la angustia?
10 ¿Hallará placer al lado del Todopoderoso?
¿Invocará acaso a Dios en todo momento?
11 ¡Voy a enseñarles algo del poder de Dios!
¡Les voy a revelar lo que sé del Todopoderoso!
12 No hay duda de que todos ustedes lo han visto;
entonces, ¿por qué dicen tantas tonterías?»
Tercera reprensión de Sofar a Job
13 «El Dios Todopoderoso tiene ya preparada
la herencia de los malvados y violentos:
14 Podrán tener muchos hijos, pero morirán por la espada;
los más pequeños siempre carecerán de pan.
15 Si acaso alguno sobrevive, no será sepultado,
ni su viuda llorará su muerte.
16 Podrá vivir entre montones de plata,
y acumular grandes cantidades de ropa,
17 pero al final los hombres justos e inocentes
se pondrán esa ropa y se repartirán la plata.
18 »La casa que edifica está carcomida por dentro;
es tan frágil como una choza de vigilancia.
19 Se va a descansar seguro de sus riquezas,
pero al despertar ya está en la miseria.
20 Entonces el terror lo domina como un río,
y en la noche lo arrastra como un torbellino.
21 Un viento calcinante lo lanza a las alturas;
una fuerte tempestad lo arranca de su lugar.
22 Dios lo castigará sin piedad,
y aunque quiera escapar, no lo conseguirá.
23 Al verlo, la gente aplaudirá
y se alegrará de verlo arruinado.»

27 ¡Juro por Dios, por el Todopoderoso,
quien se niega a hacerme justicia
y me llena de amargura,
3 que mientras él me dé fuerza para respirar,
4 jamás diré mentiras
ni pronunciaré palabras falsas!
5 Mientras yo viva, insistiré en mi inocencia;
¡no admitiré que ustedes tengan razón al acusarme!
6 No dejaré de insistir en mi honradez,
pues no tengo nada que reprocharme.
7 ¡Que todo el que se declare mi enemigo
corra la suerte del malvado y del injusto!
8 ¿Qué esperanza habrá para el impío
cuando Dios le quite la vida?
9 Cuando se encuentre en dificultades,
Dios no hará caso de sus ruegos.
10 Pues él no encuentra su alegría en el Todopoderoso,
ni lo invoca en ningún momento.
11 Voy a mostrarles el gran poder de Dios,
los planes del Todopoderoso.
12 Y si todos ustedes ya lo han visto,
¿por qué dicen cosas absurdas?
Sofar
13 Éste es el castigo que Dios, el Todopoderoso,
dará a los hombres crueles y malvados:
14 aunque sus hijos sean muchos,
morirán en la guerra o por no encontrar qué comer.
15 A los que queden con vida, los matará la peste,
y sus viudas no los llorarán.
16 Aunque el malvado amontone plata como tierra,
y tenga ropa en grandes cantidades,
17 será un hombre honrado el que use esa ropa
y algún hombre honrado el que disfrute de esa plata.
18 La casa del malvado es frágil como un nido,
como la choza de quien cuida los campos.
19 Se acostará rico por última vez,
y al despertar, ya no tendrá nada.
20 El terror le llegará de día,
la tempestad se lo llevará de noche.
21 El viento huracanado del oriente
lo arrancará de su casa;
22 soplará contra él sin compasión,
por más que trate de escapar.
23 El viento lo perseguirá con estruendos y silbidos.

Job’s Last Words to His Friends
27 Moreover Job continued his discourse:
2 “As God lives, who has taken away my judgment,
and the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter,
3 all the while my spirit is in me,
and the breath of God is in my nostrils,
4 my lips will not speak wickedness,
nor my tongue utter deceit.
5 God forbid that I should justify you.
Until I die I will not put away my integrity from me.
6 My righteousness I hold fast and will not let it go;
my heart will not reproach me as long as I live.
7 “Let my enemy be like the wicked,
and he who rises up against me like the unrighteous.
8 For what is the hope of the hypocrite,
though he may gain much, when God takes away his soul?
9 Will God hear his cry
when trouble comes upon him?
10 Will he delight himself in the Almighty?
Will he always call upon God?
11 “I will teach you about the hand of God;
what is with the Almighty I will not conceal.
12 Look, all of you have seen it;
why then have you become altogether vain?
13 “This is the portion of a wicked man with God,
and the inheritance that oppressors receive from the Almighty:
14 If his children are multiplied, it is for the sword,
and his offspring will not be satisfied with bread.
15 Those who survive him will be buried in death,
and their widows will not weep.
16 Though he heaps up silver like the dust
and piles up clothing like the clay—
17 he may pile it up, but the just will wear it,
and the innocent will divide the silver.
18 He builds his house like a moth,
and like a booth that the watchman makes.
19 The rich man will lie down, but he will not be gathered;
he opens his eyes, and he is not.
20 Terrors overtake him like floodwaters;
a tempest steals him away in the night.
21 The east wind carries him away, and he departs;
it sweeps him out of his place.
22 For God will cast it upon him and not spare;
he would flee from its power.
23 Men will clap their hands at him
and will hiss him out of his place.

27 And Job continued his discourse:(A)
2 “As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice,(B)
the Almighty,(C) who has made my life bitter,(D)
3 as long as I have life within me,
the breath of God(E) in my nostrils,
4 my lips will not say anything wicked,
and my tongue will not utter lies.(F)
5 I will never admit you are in the right;
till I die, I will not deny my integrity.(G)
6 I will maintain my innocence(H) and never let go of it;
my conscience(I) will not reproach me as long as I live.(J)
7 “May my enemy be like the wicked,(K)
my adversary(L) like the unjust!
8 For what hope have the godless(M) when they are cut off,
when God takes away their life?(N)
9 Does God listen to their cry
when distress comes upon them?(O)
10 Will they find delight in the Almighty?(P)
Will they call on God at all times?
11 “I will teach you about the power of God;
the ways(Q) of the Almighty I will not conceal.(R)
12 You have all seen this yourselves.
Why then this meaningless talk?
13 “Here is the fate God allots to the wicked,
the heritage a ruthless man receives from the Almighty:(S)
14 However many his children,(T) their fate is the sword;(U)
his offspring will never have enough to eat.(V)
15 The plague will bury those who survive him,
and their widows will not weep for them.(W)
16 Though he heaps up silver like dust(X)
and clothes like piles of clay,(Y)
17 what he lays up(Z) the righteous will wear,(AA)
and the innocent will divide his silver.(AB)
18 The house(AC) he builds is like a moth’s cocoon,(AD)
like a hut(AE) made by a watchman.
19 He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more;(AF)
when he opens his eyes, all is gone.(AG)
20 Terrors(AH) overtake him like a flood;(AI)
a tempest snatches him away in the night.(AJ)
21 The east wind(AK) carries him off, and he is gone;(AL)
it sweeps him out of his place.(AM)
22 It hurls itself against him without mercy(AN)
as he flees headlong(AO) from its power.(AP)
