^17 (A)Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man,
    but afterward his mouth will be full of ^(B)gravel.

    and ^(B)bread eaten in secret is pleasant.”
¹⁸ But he does not know ^(C)that the dead^[a] are there,
    that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

^17 (A)He loved to curse; let curses come^[a] upon him!
    He did not delight in blessing; may it be far^[b] from him!
¹⁸ He ^(B)clothed himself with cursing as his coat;
    may it ^(C)soak^[c] into his body like water,
    like oil into his bones!
